The skill has always been present for me, as a skeptical child I called it synesthesia (the visualizations) and "deductive reasoning".

What was more learned is the state I get in to do it intentionally. It is something I cannot teach, except perhaps to someone who has already found their own method to achieve the same ends. I learned to do this years ago and it doesn't require anything but your thoughts and emotions type stuff. To detach yourself, just stop all thoughts for a couple of minutes and put yourself in a numb/robotic mindset. Almost like freeze framing yourself. Then start looking at yourself as somebody else, anybody who is having issues... your issues. Then from there, start pulling your issues out and find reasoning or possible solution to each.
