Because "paranormal" literally means "above the normal." Aliens arent normal for us - we have never met one and arent even sure if they exist. Hence, they are above the normal. Paranormal isnt the same as "supernatural." Supernatural means "above the natural" - which is an oxymoron, as nothing can be above the natural and exist within a natural world.
