I guess I could post this here, it's sort of related.

Does anybody else think Beach Boys Pet Sounds is a really disturbing and distressing album? I know it's happy and upbeat but I always get really uncomfortable listening to it, and I'm not the only one. I've had a few people agree with me that there's something "off" about it.
>>
>>14875294
Pet Sounds? Nah, that was before Brian Wilson went really off the deep end, I think their SMiLE sessions and "Smiley Smile" are some of their darkest works

"The instrumental sessions for the album were recorded under unusual conditions. Wilson instructed everybody in the studio to wear a fire helmet, and had another person bring in a bucket with burning wood so that the studio would be filled with the smell of smoke.[4] Attempts by Wilson were then made to record the crackling noises made by the burning wood and mix them into the track.[2] An account of the famous "Fire" story was first reported and published in October 1967"

" A few days after the record was finished, a building across the street from the studio burned down and, according to Brian, there was also an unusually large number of fires in Los Angeles. Afraid that his music might in fact turn out to be magic fire music, Wilson destroyed the master."

Also thought I'd mention my captcha was "666". Coincidence?

If you take the lyrics literally, the album's about shit like Siamese twins trapped in formaldehyde, live burials, domestic violence, mass graves, a depressed nymphomaniac, etc. If you dig a little deeper, it's Jeff Mangum professing his love for Anne Frank, possibly fucking her corpse at one point. If you go deeper than that, it's a mountain hermit detailing how his love for an abstract concept kept him going through his shitty environment. Also, one of the tracks is called "Ghost." It's max spoopy.
>>
Aphex Twin gives me some pretty fucked up vibes. That dude was tapping into something else. Also the Beatles music creeps me the fuck out. Probabbly because of all the occult stuff over such happy music at times, and the fact they used to do LSD with the Manson Family.

This is supposedly a lost Beatles song, found in a trash can outside Apple Corps headquarters in 1970. Dated to 1967, the song has overtly psychedelic lyrics typical of Beatles songs of that era, with an eerie and contemplative bent. Trademark Beatles recording tricks like backwards vocals and tempo changes are used to freaky effect. While the voices of John Lennon and Paul McCartney are unmistakable, the weird part is that the Beatles left no record whatsoever in their massive paper trail of this song being written - while countless other Beatles songs that never received proper studio versions, such as "What's the New Mary Jane," "Sour Milk Sea"
and "Carnival of Light" are well attested to.

It's been speculated that this is either a very convincing fake, or, perhaps more likely, an audition tape sent in by a few hopeful Beatles wannabes in hopes of signing on to Apple. The question still remains, however, as to how this supposed group was able to perfectly emulate not only the distinct voices of the Beatles, but also their revolutionary recording techniques on what seems to be a home recording. If this is a genuine Beatles song, then it was written, demoed and then promptly disposed of, never to be spoken of again - a singular oddity in the vast Beatles catalog. For what reason, we don't know.

Throbbing Gristle / Psychic TV should require no introduction here. A bit tryhard, but what they did for industrial music in the 70s was revolutionary. Not to mention this was a group of people who genuinely believed in spoops.

How about some real cured music?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBkdv6FZLsE

"On a trip in Jerusalem, Rodriguez-Lopez purchased an archaic ouija-type talking board at a curio shop as a gift for Bixler-Zavala. They would return to their tour bus after shows to play with it during their 2006 tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as it quickly became the band's post-show ritual. Dubbed "The Soothsayer", the board revealed stories, gave names and made demands, as the band was contacted by three different people who appeared in the form of one, who was then referred to as "Goliath". The more the band interacted with "The Soothsayer", otherworldly coincidences began plaguing the band's experience writing and recording The Bedlam in Goliath: Blake Fleming, their drummer at the time, quit mid-tour and left the band with financial troubles; Bixler-Zavala wound up needing surgery performed on his foot due to the shoes he had been wearing, forcing him to relearn how to walk post-surgery; audio tracks sporadically disappeared from the studio's harddrives; Rodriguez-Lopez's home studio flooded and was subject to multiple power outages; and the album's original engineer went through a nervous breakdown, leaving behind all previous work with no notes as to where anything was. The engineer who quit stated to Rodriguez-Lopez: "I'm not going to help you make this record. You're trying to do something very bad with this record, you're trying to make me crazy and you're trying to make people crazy."
>>
>>14885688

"Bixler-Zavala incorporated themes and names into the lyrics that were taken from messages given by "The Soothsayer". It also includes excerpts from poems that were found attached to the ouija, describing a love triangle between a woman, her daughter and a man in a Muslim society, along with an honor killing involving these people."

Stanford professors Chris Chafe and Josef Parvizi have transformed brain activity from seizure patients into music. This composition details the three main phases of a seizure. Calmness turns into chaos during the actual seizure, before trailing off into a recovery phase. The work could lead to a powerful biofeedback tool for identifying brain patterns associated with seizures.

it was more than that...he was conspiring to rape a baby. and even worse, he was discussing it with the mother of the baby. im pretty sure in the courtroom proceedings it was revealed that he sent the mom text messages like "she needs to know that she exists to get fucked" or something like that about the 1 year old baby. wanted to give the baby meth and shit. lostprophets was my first favorite band when i was in like 6th grade. lol

I've noticed a lot of songs in this thread are popular, but have a sinister meaning behind them or they are the devolution of artistic value and appeal to primal instinct through simplistic lyrics and the same monotonous beat over and over again.

Personally I think this song belongs in the thread because it really makes me feel uncomfortable listening to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ejsM0VF-Os

Thanks for reminding me of this band. This song has a lot of symbolism that I'm sure /x/ would love to analyze:

Just getting this label out there. ACB is mostly experimental stuff, but some things are outright /x/. Members of Us' ep is simply creepy, and Trisma's "Manifest Destiny" has pic related for cover.

I don't understand. How does someone get so screwed up and be able to pop a boner to raping a literal baby? What's with that?

anything this is one of the greatest albums ever made. With that being said, it was definitely really dark for its time. The subject matter and chords used were unorthodox for its time and till this day you can sorta see why. Their record label didn't even want to release this album because they thought it was a disaster. Not to mention the fact that Brian Wilson was dropping an insane amount of acid while recording this album

One of the big reasons the later works of the Beach Boys are so creepy - or at the very least, so surreal - is because of the interplay between Brian Wilson's descent into insanity and his angelic, almost otherworldly voice. Speaking of "Don't Talk," see the below clip+timestamp for a snippet that sends chills down my spine every time.

Pay careful attention to the sloop john b song. The background singers are slowly chanting their lines. Most beach boys songs make me feel depressed. I think it's the slow voices. I think there is a voice only version on YouTube. Kinda creepy

(I'm no BB expert, don't know the other singers names)
>>
>>14879863
Even without the Paul is dead crap, the Beatles have some creepy shit. Here are few off the top of my head:

The gibberish at the end of sgt pepper

The complete "can you take me back" track from the white album freaks me out. Rhythmic and creepy

The magic mystery tour movie is really odd, but the band in the bar plays a weird song 'death cab for cutie"

Some of lennons stuff is intentionally disturbing just because it's weird. Rev9 is hard to sit through. I guess that's the point.

There are more that used to make me uncomfortable, but those are the only ones I can think of now

>>
>>14892075
Do you still listen to them? I like a couple of songs before, years ago, and thanks to that anon, just heard A Town Called Hypocrisy and decided to get all of their albums. I feel awful for liking them, especially after Ian's crap came to light. Is that bad? Even worse, my small con enjoys it =/
>>
>>14892368
I agree. The whole thing is unsettling. Creepy, beautiful melody by Lennon, climactic spiraling symphony, upbeat kids music by Paul, more symphony... It's like a fever-dream. The final note leaves you hanging, then that batshit crazy gibberish
>>
>>14889701
Nah, sorry. After finishing it it just seemed like something normal you'd here on some old time music collection. The laughing was pretty normal. Just sounded like a black guy laughing when it called for it.
>>
>>14892469
I don't think it's bad. It's no different than Charles Manson fans.

At least you've made a wise investment if those albums ever stop being distributed because they'll be rare and hard to find.

I agree. /tv/ fags would call you a pleb, because the movie is popular, but it was disturbing. The soundtrack helped create an unsettling atmosphere. Violins are the devil's instruments.

Try 'a study in strings' by pavel haas. He wrote it in the Theresianstaadt concentration camp before being killed in auschwitz. You can hear it briefly in the nazi propaganda movie "the fuhrer gives a city to the Jews". It's a passionate piece. Very traumatic (if you think about music as an outlet)

i've heard before that richard d. james would purposefully deprive himself of sleep while making his records, sometimes for over a week. his music's the shit but it probably took a toll on his sanity
>>

Check this out. Devil appears to dude, shows him how it's done on the violin. Dude writes down as much of it as he can:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_Trill_Sonata

The entire work is long and kinda of tedious, builds up to the devil trill part. This is a video of JUST the trill part. Advice: start it in another tab and don't watch it, just listen. I know, it's an oriental chick playing so you think it'll be hot, BUT it has dawn of MTV era graphics and production value, very cheesy -- takes away from the music.

Eminem My Darling

Fuck this mirror! AHHHHHHH
"I'm not in the mirror, I'm inside you, let me guide you"
Fuck you, die you son of a bitch
"Put the gun down", BYE BYE!
Ok I'm still alive, "So am I too!
You can't kill a spirit, even if you tried to
Haha, you sold your soul to me, need I remind you?
You remember that night you, prayed to god
You'd give anything to get a record deal, well Dre signed you
This is what you wanted your whole life Marshall, right through
Look at this house, look at these cars, I'm so nice, wooo!
Oh, but you didn't know, fame has a price too
That you're just now seeing the downside to
Lose your best friend from highschool, your wife too
Ain't even sure if your kids like you
Come off tour, can't even sleep at night without Nyquill
Become a valium addict, start a rehab cycle
But together we can break the cycle
Marshall..." WHAT! "no one's gonna love you like I do!"

there's a episode of the eric andre show where this guy is doing a cooking show gag where this guy is hurting himself while showing how to cook something (a common joke), but it is extremely realistic and it actually looks like he is getting hurt. if he's not actually getting hurt he is a amazing actor but i'm am pretty sure he was getting hurt. i think the scene is at the end of an episode with a t-pain impersonator. it was seriously one of the most disturbing things i've seen on tv.
