years ago when i first started coming here this place was filled with wonderful and deep discussions about true paranormal activity that people have experienced, now it seems that role-playing and people with mental illnesses take up most of this board.
i myself have experienced extremely horrifying experiences throughout my life and i was not alone for some of them. i have sought out other people who are analytical and somewhat skeptical about these things so that even with reason and deduction there are still no sure answers as to why these things happen.
i never take anything for face value and if someone claims to be unique or see things i call them out on it. if they see ghosts then i ask for proof. i might open up about my past but for now i'll include a recent event that left my family at odds for the first year we were at our new house.
back in 2015 we moved into a house built in 1797 and for the most part it was very nice and calm. then october came along and we started hearing footsteps run up and down the stairs and doors opening or someone in our cellar. the night before halloween we decided to carve our pumpkins and place them on our stoop in front of the house. as me and my mother went outside we both heard what sounded like footsteps right outside in the front yard. we went in and i was grabbing my flashlight when she called me outside to show me something. as she took the picture a figure appeared in front of my bedroom window where we heard footsteps. she ran into the house and i spent the next two weeks trying to figure out what it was. around this time is when the activity stopped. i still have that picture and if anyone knows how to analyze pictures please feel free to try. this thread is for people who had had legit experiences that cannot be resolved with logic and reason. please feel free to discus your experiences without judgement.

There are some stories if you want me to share them, but honestly, the vast majority of experiences is pretty mundane - she occasionally sees or hears shit, and when she used to go to the Spirit Centers (Or whatever they're called in your country), she could incorporate them so they could speak with the spirit and try to help it out.

There is no reading - she didn't incorporate for other people. The Center existed to help the spirits, not the living. The reunons were only for the mediums.
It was not a place to go receive a letter from dead grandpa, but the place someone who died in an accident went so they could help him understand what happened and go to the other side in peace.
There was no one being tricked. Unless they were all delusional, of course - I never went to any of those reunions, only have her accounts, and what she said other people said about the events.

On a side note; ever since I saw this, I have never managed to get killed by anything I've done no matter how dumb. I've stepped into the road then had cars speed at me even after I'd checked, sliced my fingers with a knife by accident, got a massive friction burn on my leg from skidding on grass, almost broke a bollock fucking up a flip on a trampoline hell I even almost choked to death on chocolate powder and none of it has left anything more permanent than some bruises, a surgical scar and a burn mark. this picture is from a few years ago, it is of me and my sister while visiting family. We decided to take a photo randomly because it was a pretty nice night and we're just that type of people. Anyway, my sister's fiance took the picture and neither us nor him saw the figure right next to me until the end of the week as we were showing the picture to our parents when my mother pointed it out. It freaked me out, but it wasn't like i could really do anything. Anyway, stuff didn't really get all that weird until my boyfriend found it again in the back of my closet about a month ago. Since then, I've been hearing weird noises at night, the windows will randomly shut on there own, doors will open then slam shut in the middle of the night, things will fall to the ground when no one is moving. it's all driving me and my fiance insane!! can someone please help us!!

Has anyone created their own magical system?
I like the idea of planetary hours, but the planets don't really mean anything to me, so I was thinking of compiling a similar cycle and substituting in things that do mean things to me - animals, maybe colors, I don't know.
Maybe come up with my own cosmology instead of the goetic demons too

Spent years of high school and college working on one.
I didn't much care for the fact that the four elements hot/cold wet/dry wheel doesn't match up to the compass alignments. Seemed idiotic to me that water would touch fire. Also was fiddling around with a "magical language" linking sounds to specific elements, and words that held meanings by what sounds/elements comprised them. Never got far though.
Was all for a fantasy world anyway.

That's because the compass alignments you're thinking of (north=earth, south=fire, east=air, west=water) are based on astrology, and not the physical properties of the four elements.
Basically you're mistaking the map and the territory here.

I've been depressed and having an existential crisis lately and figured I would visit /x/ since it's the most spiritual board. I'm not very religious though I would like to be. I browse the futurologist subreddits a lot because they preach hope however small of immortality but recently that had been a turnoff as well? Both total nonexistence and infinite existence (at least while keeping memories) seems awful. But I realized I've at least done nonexistence before since I had to be born first and it doesn't seem like the worst thing in that regard? Apparently the universe itself will die unless futurologists are right so I don't exactly have a choice, but what do you guys think about immortality? I like the idea of cycling in an out of existence forever and losing my memory each time but that's impossible to prove? I like having the option to wake up when I sleep, but eventually wouldn't that be just as tiresome as never sleeping (assuming I kept memories)? In which case dying spuds like a break. But I still would like to wake up now and again...

Hello /x/! If you've seen something like this, but advertising a site of any kind then know it has nothing to do with us. We're a bunch of anons who love the anime character Lain Iwakura, from the anime Serial Experiments Lain. It is quite an interesting anime, much worthy of the attention of /x/ - especially since it has aliens in it. Also a weird concept similar to our internet. Other weird stuff too, but of a more nebulous variety. We're not a cult, but we do really love Lain. We just want to share the love of her with this board. The anime series was semi-prophetic in it's own right and predicted the internet as we know it in the 2000s. For some of us that were from the time before the current internet, this is quite amazing. Anyway, feel free to talk about your favorite thing in SEL. Also, don't forget - EVERYONE LOVE LAIN!
