My friend's been trying to get me into his religion as of late, and I've been curious about consciousness/afterlives in general, though I find the lack of "beforelives" in religion a bit of a letdown. Do the myths come from NDE's and the like? I ask because there have been groups of people that DON'T believe in afterlives for centuries if not millennia, so it can't be a simple result of humans being incapable of getting over dying.

There isn't a lack of before-lives, just depends on which philosophy of re-incarnation or rebirth you find the most potentially real.
Hindus like re-incarn: i.e. Soul transmigrates. and Buddhists like Re-birth, no essential "soul" that migrates just a continuation of consciousness experienced within.
Before-lives are a main feature of these.
The Tibetan book of the dead is good, there is a lot of material in there for how devout Tibetan Buddhists navigate the experience through prayers and such but you can get an idea of what they think it's like from the narrative.

I died when I was a kid, I got into my grandmas medicine and overdosed and was brought back to life. That was nice.
I've had a number of near death experiences beyond that.
I heard the other day that people who died are changed, I can't remembe where I heard it, but it made me think.

It's always at night, I'm chilling in my bed until i get sleepy, then, as always i just lay there till i start sleeping.
It happened to me again like 15 minutes ago, i was chilling in bed, waiting, when i felt like my body was compressing (i don't know how to explain) i tried to move but i was so weak, i mean, i was doing so much effort and i only managed to move a little bit, then i heard sound waves, i don't know how to explain those but they were fucking intense, at that point i felt really light, like i was floating, but i was still being compressed and hearing the sound waves, then it stopped, it probably lasted like 10 seconds, then i was able to move again, i was very agitated, i tried to scream but i couldn't
This is not the first time it's happened, it's happened numerous times, more than i can remember, but it doesn't really bother me, it doesn't affect my life at all
I just wanted to write this, because i can't sleep at all right now
