A small balloon filled with silence floats by. Not the under watered muffled sounds of bubbles and currents. The stillness of a thousand leaves of a hundred trees. A real silence of thought. Last heartbeat before the fainting. The quiet before the storm.
"Sir, I'm very sorry for your loss."
The silence was not enough, so I close my eyes. Expecting blackness I can only see her face. Her eyes.
"Sir, we need to have you come with us down to the station."
I look down at my bare feet and my flannel robe. The officer follows my eyes.
"We can wait for you to get dressed."
I shrug and then flinch when he pats my shoulder. I turn, leaving the silence of the open front door and calmly stare towards my bedroom. Our bedroom.
The night shined with a recent rainfall, leaving a tar and oil smell in the air. The station was just a few blocks away.
It was a typical big town, small city place. Some used it as suburbia, others as their home town. Most people just drove by through, wondering what people did or didn't do to live there.
I was guided to the second of only two interview rooms. The first room was occupied by a wash of light through the frosted glass. Voices crept from beneath a solid steel door.
The room was small with a desk mounted to the floor. The air was cold. I noticed a separate thermastat mounted next to the door. A mirrored ball concealing a camera mounted on a corner ceiling tile. The click of a lock.
"I'm sorry to have to ask, John. I just need to know where you were tonight?"
"Can I see her?" I ask , knowing it would be an expected request.
"Not now, but soon.."
I need to see her, I need to know.... How will this end?
Then she opens the door, looks down at me ...smirks and then laughs.

Let's talk demonic possession.
I believe when I was a child (6 or 7) I purchased a demonic conduit statue which was a carved, black wood demon with a mohawk of horsehair and had horns on either side and one was broken on the left side.
No idea how old it was or where it came from. The person that sold it to my mother seemed eager to get rid of it and sold it for 7 pounds fifty, asking price was 20 pounds.
I took it home and looked at it for a while, and then put it on my shelf and forgot about it.
Life for me went downhill, constant fevers that would leave me incapcitated and my family would all crowd around me for hours with towels and fans while I vividly hallucinated their faces morphing and changing to sinister smirks and grins and demonic faces.
I can remember moving to my new room and sitting up straight one night and my entire vision became a dark blue but I could still see and my body moved on it's on towards the statue on the middle shelf and I was speaking but not my own words. I can't remember what I was saying but it sounded like low chants and I just woke up in my bed.
I've posted an image of the statue here at least 2 years ago, thread is probably long gone, along with the last image of it, I was trying to figure out what entity it might represent.
I recently burned it (didn't burn for a very long time) and I've since moved out of the house where it has been and I've been plagued by thoughts of a black skinned creature with a flowing auburn mohawk sitting in cross legged position behind me in the bath or shower with a long mouth like a baracuda and intensely white eyes with a black dot in the centre of each and two long thin black horns.
When I first moved into this place I had an intrusive thought straight out of the blue that it was coming around the corner of the room and I looked up and immediately got a greasy fear all over me. Couldn't sleep that night because I thought it was always over my shoulder. Pic related has similar eyes

It's a very normal psychological phenomenon.
The more you visit an echo chamber the more you start to resonate with the beliefs of it.
By coming here and hearing other people speak about supernatural things as if they are real your mind slowly starts to believe it. It's social behavior and perfectly normal.

This is pretty much why I always thought the idea that religion was a fantasy concocted by people to abate their anxieties about death didn't make much sense. Obviously hell is an anxiety-inducing belief, just like death. I'm not religious, btw. I was raised religious and hated it, but this was an argument that always seemed weak.
Nihilism though is just lazy. "Nothing matters." It's always the same answer. It's for people that just don't want to really think about stuff, in my opinion.
Clearly things do matter to you, so why arbitrarily choose to view your own life from some cosmic level where you're an insignificant speck instead of viewing it from the very real, practical level where your interactions with people obviously DO have an effect and your choices clearly do result in either pain or pleasure.
Things matter. Nihilism is a cheap escapist fantasy for teenagers. Not trying to offend you. These are just my thoughts on it.
