Welcome to /sum/, this is the thread for anything to do with summoning (evoking, invoking, etc) demons and other things like gods and spirits
Want to learn about ritual magick, summoning etiquette, and roll around in all the inevitable shitposts? This is the thread for you!
>PLEASE READ THE STICKY http://pastebin.com/ZHPM0KVz
It contains a complete step-by-step guide to your first evocation. Don't forget to post your experiences and results (or lack thereof) here so we can all learn from them.
The curious, the skeptical, the critic, the practitioner, the babe, the Grand Magus, all are welcome here!
I haven't been participating much in /sum/ lately but I have to say I'm disturbed by all those suggesting animal sacrifices.
Unless you're a farmer with limited means, why would animal sacrifices even mean anything anymore? It means nothing if you go spend $10 on a rabbit at a pet store and then slaughter it at home.
Ironically my introduction to summoning involved saving a rabbit who is now living his life out on some bunny farm somewhere.
Let's stop being assholes /sum/.

Agree 100%
>I'm disturbed by all those suggesting animal sacrifices.
what the hell. the only person who said he did animal sacrifices was me and i didn`t tell anyone that they should do this or this is the right way, and everyone jumped on me and gave me the title edgelord, said i`m from sweden and said i`m a buddhist. So if anything you should be happy by how those threads are going and the responsibility of people here. I love you all.
And my sacrifice making shenanigans were over a year ago and i no longer indulge in such practices. In fact, one could say i have changed my ways a bit. That said i have the house to myself for two weeks and i have some summony plans for a few nights :>
how`s it going for you partners?
I'm gonnna dump a bunch of book ones, please contribute whatever you got!!

Evening all. I recently dumped all the pictures off my phone onto my PC for the first time in years and I thought I might share a few. I will obviously only post the ones in someway related to /x/.
Subjects include;
>a castle
>an ancient stone circle or 2
>an abandoned medieval church
>dead stuff (fish and birds) I've stumbled across
>some landscapes with orbs/ probably some sort of camera malfunction
>recreated druid temple
>weird coloured clouds lol
I will aim to dump it all but can go in any order if there are any requests
Feel free to take a guess as to what is in pic related? I will explain at the end

Hey guys, been wondering about how certain talismans may or may not work.
I've got a story:
My old family friend was a good guy, he taught me how to chop wood and he was a brilliant storyteller. He would tell us stories on how he chased down a gypsy scammer through whole country or about how did he get this hangman's noose as a talisman.
And as it is concerned: He was for some reason called to suicide and accident cases. I think he was some sort of health and safety inspector. On one summer day he got called in to help with a guy who hung himself in his barn and as they were taking him down he took out a Swiss army knife and cut himself like 8 inches of his rope. He kept roughly two inches of it for luck and sold/gave away the rest.
cont.
He of course took out this part and presented it to us. It was a 2 inch piece of a rope - reasonably thick, tarnished with brown, village dirt. I didn't feel like touching it, and upon learning that's his last piece I would not ask if I can get some as well.
Fastforward next week: I go out with my sister to walk the dogs. As we come back home our grandparents say [the guy] at 10:30 am.
Neither me or my sister felt much emotional weight to it, even though we really liked the guy. For some reason we felt an impulse to go the backyard and dance barefoot to Fleetwood Mac with reckless abandon. Then a freaky thing happened as a whole murder of crows flew low just above our heads pretty much towards us from a pretty random direction. It didn't freak me out but made me feel wonder, even tho it was really odd.
Guy himself died in his sleep. Apparently he felt ill at 10pm and after being taken to the hospital, he was examined to be in a good state. To be on a safe side they made him stay a night at the hospital. He felt really bad in the moring and then by 10:30 he was gone. Not sure about the case of death, but apparently something to do with the gut or spleen.
Fun fact: His surname translated to "undertaker".
Now question: Did the noose actually bring him luck?
>>18032018
Sure. The dying thoughts of a person who hangs themselves eeks out, and fills whatever physical object holds them. There's not much that gives a purer tone in this world, than hanging an object by a pendulum. If you can find luck in that, more power to ya'.
Anything that touched that length of rope would absorb some of the vibration though. Over time, it would lose its potency.
>>18032041
If I'm right you're coming from the idea that the object got filled with the energy of the dying person, and the charge is regardless so even if they were broken hopes, they were still hopes and even if it was a life wasted it was still a life that could be found in it.
So while we agree that the noose was indeed an item of power, do you think that it granted him a boon of peaceful death?
The other thing that concerns me is why me and my sister both reacted with ecstatic dancing more than anything else and the presence of psychopomps there as well. I felt kinda off doing the dance, like more I was spectating what I was doing, but the birds in all their creepiness brought some closure and relief. Do you think it had anything to do with the object?
Hi /x/,
First time poster here with a sleeping problem.
There's an entity that jumps on my bed and stands over my body. I wouldn't have brought it up if this hasn't happened the 5th time in the last 2 years and in two different houses.
The entity is heavier than a cat, but lighter than say a common mutt, from what I've been able to notice when it steps on the mattress next to my legs and arms. There's a slight warmth and a dim glow radiating from it too.
The problem is that I'm conscious when it comes, but unable to act or open my eyes from fear paralysis. I don't take any drugs (other than tobacco and alcohol) and have no history of mental illness in family. I have seen a lot of nightmares and during my early years, but this is something new.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Or at least point me towards where this sort of thing is explained.
>>18031980
It's just sleep paralysis, try not to overthink sleeping as stupid as that seems. Also try not to sleep "like a corpse" ie flat on your back, arms at your side. I've noticed that when I worry about sleep paralysis, it happens more often, which is kind of shitty information I suppose.
Eventually you get used to it. Everyone sees hallucinations during it and the most common/shared one is a figure that stands either near them or lays on their chest, often having some "weight" to them, more often then not being some kind of "shadow creature". It's no biggie man, it's just what happens when your mind thinks you're sleeping a little too early.
>>18031980

>>18032025
Sleep Paralysis is basically your brain trying to make up reasons for your body not obeying it.
>>18032025
Also, as an added thing, a lot of people hear kind of a "wooshing" noise in their ears, like wind, the same "noise" you hear when you squeeze your eyes shut really hard.
So my little brother died of a pulmonary embolism a few years ago. We were hiking near Zion National Park in Utah, when he suddenly collapsed. I always carry my ham radio when hiking and was able to call for help, but it still took them nearly an hour to arrive. It's an hour I remember better than anything else - permanently burned into my memory. An hour I spent helplessly watching my brother die. You don't forget something like that.
But today I woke up and found out my little brother is alive and well, studying art at a college in New England. Nobody else in my family seems to remember him dying. Like I slipped into an alternate universe where he's still alive.
I should be grateful... you know, he gets a second chance, but I am very disturbed. Something doesn't feel right. I haven't tried contacting him yet, and I'm not sure if I should.
Thoughts?
You're full of shit, I can smell it.
>>18031881
False memories are a serious symptom of brain problems. I'm not joking, see a neurologist.
Did you hear about the Mandela effect? It looks something similar like what happenened to you... sorry for bad english

Nah, that's jut a very old technique we used to scare the Ottomans. Though there is a Shamanistic background, and if done correctly, can HURT PEOPLE.
They should.
What does it mean if you see yourself in the street,
and you chase yourself?
> IRL
> not a dream /nightmare
> not on hallucinogenics / drunk /etc
> no known brain illness
> am told I'm weird, but I don't see things, not psychotic ,as far as I know.
> no weird smell, or ''typical'' things mentioned on /x/.
> just an odd feeling, then I looked, nearly pissed myself.
> though the other ''me'' was very fast and seemed to grin, I smile, but never like THAT
> chased me
I've been sick, I dunno with what, cos I am a chickenshit and have not gone to the doctor, but I've lost weight and coughed up blood. I know that sounds terribly Victorian or something from dostovetsky ,and I know what comes up if one googles the symptoms, but I'm not prone to hypochondria, if it was something nefarious ,it'd be a lot worse ,I should think.
It's my Dad's anniversary coming up, and don't want to go to get tests at the same time as he was sick.
So anyone else have this sort of thing, being chased by themselves?
> Can anyone give advice, on protection, Please?
Nope.
>>18031616
nope as in, fuck that shit nope.jpeg,
or nope, you won't give any counsel to another anon.
this isn't RPG, or anything like that. I'd fkn like it to be, though.
Sorry about your father.
No offense but did he ever get delusions? Asking because that can be familial...whats the word.... epigenetic.
Are there any hidden messages within the United States Constitution?

The word "suckers" in the first draft.
>>18031538
Yes. The US Constitution states the following
>the original poster in an online forum made for the discussion of oriental drawing is at all times engaging in pederasty
>>18031538
Yeah if you read it out loud and clear, tape it an then play it backwards at 1/24th of the original speed you get the recipe for borsch, proving that the founding fathers were all communists

hey /x/
recently, some weird shit happened in my house, and i figured it'd be worth sharing here
tell me if you think I'm overreacting
this story will be pretty short, so don't expect something enthralling
>pic related, it's a shitty diagram of my house to help clarify bits of the story
>1 a.m.
>just got done walking on the treadmill for 3 hours
>leave the back room, go back into my own room through the kitchen
>strip out of my shoes and shirt
>chill out in my bed for a while, just reading shit on my phone
>house is entirely silent except for a fan i keep running in my room and the ice box occasionally making a bit of noise
>around 3 a.m.
>i start hearing someone putt around in the kitchen
>every few minutes someone will walk into the kitchen/living room, shuffle shit around, and then walk somewhere else
>figure it's probably my mom or brother
>not too out of the ordinary for them to be up this late doing stuff
>this continues for a while
>start to realize it's a little weird that they never turned on the lights or opened any doors
cont.
>decide i should probably go check to see who it is
>it's either my mom, drunk, doing something she shouldn't
>or my brother, taking food out of the kitchen at 3 am, which he also shouldn't be doing
>hear the shuffling again
>someone comes into the kitchen through the living room (top entrance on the diagram)
>i open my door and walk out into the kitchen, just up to the wall a few feet from my door that lets into the rest of the kitchen (about where the bottom entrance opens up into the kitchen)
>it's too fucking dark to see anything
>say "hey"
>everything goes silent
>no response
>i'm spooked
the kitchen has two light switches, one for the top entrance and one for the bottom, so you can turn the lights on regardless of where you walk in from
to turn the lights on, you just turn the switch nearest you in the opposite direction the other one is facing, so down/up or vice versa
>reach over to the light switch next to me
>flip the switch
>nothing happens
>continue flipping switch 3 or 4 times
>lights stay off, room is silent
>overspooked
>get my ass back in my room and lock my door
>text my brother
>he's still awake
>he hasn't left his room, said it was mom
>text my mom
>she's still awake
>hasn't left her room, said it was my brother
>>>maximum overspook
>peek out my blinds
>my window faces the front of the house
>can't see any cars or anything that doesn't belong
>grab my axe and come back out into the kitchen
>flick the light switch
>lights come on immediately
>nobody is around
>run through my house hitting all the switches
>nobody is around
>check the locks
>back door is locked
>front door
>only the bottom lock is done
>think nothing of it
>my mom and brother come out
>mom is spooked, brother is talking about how things in the kitchen have been moved around (can't confirm this, couldn't tell the difference)
>re-check the whole house
>find nothing
now, there are two things that stuck with me in this, and they're what keep me from thinking it's nothing
cont.
>>18030762
I'm receiving a paradox avalanche of information here.
Firstly you're concerned with someone having broken into your house...and then decided to post a crude but informative lay out of your house.
Secondly you had the ability to quietly text your mother and brother to find out their whereabouts but instead you decided to walk into the suspicious scenario, with the lights off and without a flash light, and just randomly call out so whoever was there would be aware of your presence and awareness of them...even though you didn't know who they were?
You know I always assumed horror movies made the casts impossibly dumb for the sake of plot but I'm starting to suspect there's truth in fiction.
#1
The light switch.
The lights didn't work when I first came into the room, when I heard someone moving around in it.
However, a few minutes later, they worked perfectly fine. The power obviously wasn't cut, because the lights on the icebox were still on. And the bulbs couldn't have been unscrewed, because they're fluorescent tubes covered in a sheet of glass.
So, what could have prevented the lights from coming on?
I have one idea.
When I was little, and I lived in my old house, me and my little brother used to fuck with the hallway lights for fun. The hallway had two switches as well, that worked the same way as the kitchen. We discovered that balancing one switch in the middle prevented the other one from doing anything; so long as one switch was balanced in the middle, between the up/down position, the other switch would do nothing and the lights would stay off.
So, the only way the lights could've been prevented from coming on, in my mind, is if somebody was standing just around the corner, just out of sight, holding the other light switch in the middle. Exactly in the spot where I heard the shuffling.
#2
The top lock on the door - the deadbolt - not being locked.
This one is a little more straightforward.
We live in a shitty neighborhood, so we always lock the doors at night.
Now, the deadbolt and the bottom lock function different. If you lock the bottom one, you can close the door behind you on the way out of the house. However, the deadbolt can only be locked from the inside, or on the outside with a key. If you lock it from the inside, while the door is open, and try to close it behind you, the bolt sticking out will prevent the door from closing.
So, if you want to lock the door to make it look like you weren't in the house, you would only be able to lock the bottom one on the way out.
