So my grandpa had a house out on a rural island called "Vannoya" ('water' or 'pond island') and we used to spend some summer vacations there.
One time my grandpa and I were hiking up the mountain and passing by an area that was referred to as "trollskogen" ('troll-woods' go figure), which was not a proper forest. We have the word "skogholdt" which means something like "a patch of trees", which dot the mountainsides.
Trollskogen was a large patch of dead and dried out trees all twisted and coiled and bleached white.
Now, as we walk by a shrill cry suddenly goes through the air, it sounded something like "EE-A EE-A EE-A EE-A EE-A EE-A!"
My grandpa and i stopped, he looked around with a mildly puzzled face and said something to the effect of "wellp, time to go home".
And so we did. And we never spoke about it ever.
