someone told me that norse runes worked better than sigils as a form of magic. as a person who has never tampered with runes is this true? if so how do i start?

Runes are not magic, they are only for writing
there are magic symbols tho, like the "valknut", (Warriors knot, or knot of the warrior). Tattoo it to your body and it will give Odin the choice to decide if you go to Valhall or Hel (instead of the valkyries), and he will be a more strict judge, but if you go to Valhall wearing such a tattoo you will be among the strongest warriors.

I totally disagree on them not being powerful magical tools! I've never had success with a sigil, but the runes (the elder futhark to be specific) have been extremely powerful in any workings I use them with.
The Runes are Odin's. If you're not working in the Norse pantheon, I rec reaching out and seeing if you get any bad vibes from him/it. I see Odin, and all the other "gods and goddesses" out there are higher dimensional beings, sort of, that can influence this world if given the proper motivation, and that's what I base my practice in.
But, basically, the runes are crazy fucking powerful. there's an angelfire site with the elder futhark and a deeper understanding of each rune and the energy already embedded in them inherently - a quick google will get you there. the site is black and red.
But seriously, get Odin's approval before you use them if you want them to work properly. And always construct your runes so that they balance each other and fully form the purpose you intend them to.

Check out St. Augustine, Florida. Its a small but beautiful town full of the spoops.
The entire Old Town and fort are littered with buried bodies. Was on ghost tour there and said that maintenance dudes kept having skeletons pop out of ground while working on streets. Guess the just pushed them back down and had priest bless the bodies.

Hallucinations will happen and you wont be able to tell whats real and whats not.
Not sure how long a person can go without sleep, but i heard they wont make it a week. Most ive stayed awake was about 2 whole days.

Going an entire week with no sleep can kill you. I went 3 nights in a row once with no sleep. On the third day I started having minor hallucinations. Stuff like constantly seeing movement in the corner of my eyes. The worst incident was when I looked at someone and for a couple seconds it looked like their face was melting.
That said, I don't think any of it was paranormal. I wasn't seeing ghosts and shit, my brain was just fucked up.

I'm beginning to have a problem with sleep paralysis. I've been having episodes of it for a few years, and usually it'd be pretty rare, maybe once a month or something, totaling maybe 20-30 minutes in duration. After awhile, it stopped freaking me out so much, and simply became extremely unpleasant (think of having a nightmare while aware of your surroundings, but paralyzed). Recently though, its been far more frequent, and longer in duration. Just last night, it lasted over an hour, and, while it happens, I sometimes shake a lot (sort of more like my entire body shuddering rapidly than actually shaking) and hearing a high pitch noise, like tinnitus, which is almost deafening. Its getting really unpleasant. The hallucinations are more mild (think of a vivid dream, where it mostly resembles reality with some distortions, but its a nightmare) but the feeling of terror is still just as strong.
Since I've seen sleep paralysis mentioned a lot on /x/, I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any idea on how I can stop this, permanently? Usually when it happens, I find the best way to end it as soon as possible is to stop breathing, and hold my breath as long as possible, and this works most of the time, however I'll often fall right back into another episode if I don't stay awake for 30-60 minutes and try to do something relaxing/distracting.
