I think the definition is too vague, but that is no means of exclusion. There you have a good idea to use a South Pacific archetype for cryptozoological comparison to observations in the North American Southwest. If you can check out Ute records, then you might be able to determine the extent of similarity.

Cicada uses a lot of images.

Images can be manipulated with programs like Photoshop. If I understand correctly, you must start with the original image provided by C3301 (particularly if searching for clues in the source code and other "hidden" information). So, be careful taking a secondary image off of message boards.

Photoshop lets you layer an image. Potentially background images are present that are revealed with changing the brightness, contrast, etc.

Watch just the first 1:04 minutes of this to see the background of the 2017C3301 start-image. There is an image behind it (grey-blue) with seven nested or stacked sevens (on their sides) with the cicada signal.
