Most of the above definitions of good are rather self-explanatory so I will leave you to interpret them, well, all except for the first one stating morals. The word as a noun is a controversial subject for a few reasons and we will look at each one to determine the meaning behind why. The first statement, of “profit or advantage” gives us reason to believe ‘good’ in this sense is for some sort of gain, or advancement towards a goal which actually is not really not too controversial because everyone knows what advancement and gain means as basic common knowledge, or at least everyone has some sort of idea of the meaning of advancement or gain. The next, “excellence or merit.” Is also quite self-explanatory because an act of kindness is unmistakable and does not generally strike too much controversy from person to person, some just choose not to accept the kindness given to them.

We used to tape flashlights onto the bottom of it when we were kids. Until one night when we heard a screeching car and a smash and we all ran and never did it again.

Streetlights regularly turn on and off as a prevention from the bulbs burning out too quickly, as well as to conserve power.

I cannot see a good reason why you should not use them. If they were passed to you with good will, and by a family member no less, perhaps they are an ancestral thing.
