Here's a pretty interesting problem for you gents.

So there's an important photo I saved from someone else's facebook profile back in 2013. Fastforward to now, and I realise I dont know where the heck that photo is gone now. It's buried deep in my hard drive somewhere (its the same one I've been using). But I don't know where.

I can't redownload the photo, because the user deleted it ( and that's a whole other story). So the copy on my computer is the only remaining one.

Stuff I've tried:

>Searching my computer
But the filename was a bunch of numbers and I obviously dont know the exact filename. Typing *.jpg in the searchbar returns me around 2000+ images which I can't be assed to sift through.

>Viewing my download history:
Can't find any record, it was way back in 2013 after all, I must have cleared Chrome's history a thousand times since then.

>Recovery software (in case I accidently deleted it)
Same problem as the first one, I don't know the exact filename so I can't find it among the sea of images.

I'm gonna take another crack at this tomorrow morning. In the meantime, is there any way I can find out what the hell my computer did to this photo from 4 years ago? Or any software online I can use?

If you didn't rename it, it will be called

*_*_*.jpg or *_*_*_*.jpg

Search for that in Windows, and view as thumbnails to save time.
>>
>>296757

Not sure exactly what tool you can use for this. But look for a program that allows you to search with regular expressions. And then it'd be just a matter of searching dor something like

> (\d+_)+\d+\.jpg

Thanks, will try it out

It's a long shot, but I'm looking for a torrent/dl link for Funkadelic's album Connections & Disconnections. Can't seem to find it anywhere...

I second this. OP is a man of taste.

If worst comes to worst, you could always youtube-to-mp3 this.

I recently got IP banned from theisozone and have no idea why, there aren't any reasons listed, and I don't even have an account there, I just use it to download roms and stuff.
Could someone please post a screenshot of the rules or even better tell me what email I can contact so I could try and get the ban removed or at the very least find out the reason.

Use Torbrowser to access the site.
>>
>>296741
I tried it and Torbrowser isn't working, I even got a new identity and set up a proxy, but it still says I'm IP banned.
>>
>>296737
>>296754
I'm not familiar with that site but you likely got range banned, and chances are they have Tor nodes blocked as well. All you can do is use a non-public VPN or try to appeal the ban, clarifying that it wasn't meant for you.

Thank you kind sir

I've been looking for this book for hours now. Genlib, bookzz, none of my usual ebook sources have it. Several university libraries have it (i.e.) Oxford but since I'm not enrolled in any of them it's of no use. If any of you are going there/have it somewhere I'd be thankful af.

The book is :Introduction to Neuropsychopharmacology
Authors:Leslie Iversen, PhD, Susan Iversen, PhD, Floyd E Bloom, MD, and Robert H Roth, PhD
ISBN: 9780195380538
Publisher: Oxford University Press

Somewhat unusual request.

Each day I need to go inspect cars for my job and check off simple yes/no questions, then go enter that into a database when I get back to the office.

Is there a program that I could use, like a phone app, where it could be set up where I check off the yes/no answers there in the app, then it automatically adds that to the database?

How the information is stored isn't too important, it could be an excel spreadsheet or whatever. I've heard you can do great things with excel and I've got the mobile app for that, if it helps.

I realize there might be some programming involved, but if you could just point me in the right direction I could read some tutorials and do the rest on my own - any thoughts about what to use?

Describe what you do.

I dont think it requires some app to make your job easier.
>>
>>296465
Yeah I don't either I'm not a tech guy this is what we've been doing for years

But you know how stuff gets handed down from you on high and there's this big "tech initiative" to incorporate "smart" technology and stuff.

Honestly entering it straight into excel always worked for me but you know, if we had some fancy application that did even the trivial job of data entry, it would get some pressure off the department to "innovate"
>>
>>296460
You're looking for what's called a "data collection" app.

There simply doesn't seem to be one that doesn't require a mothership of some kind, and almost all of them charge for access to the mothership. Which is a shame, because the actual UX for making and using forms on all these things is really good.

Epicollect is free, and you can host your own mothership, so it's probably the best of a bad bunch.

Hi, I'm totally confused about the purpose of String Routines in Java. What are they, how do I use them?

Please help xoxo
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Can you be more clear about what you mean with "String routines"?

Do you mean the methods of the String class?
>>
>>296442
Java has no primitive string type, so operations with strings are greatly simplified by using the String and StringBuffer classes.

You should probably get your head round how pointers work in Java first, or you're just going to get more confused. Everything that's not a char, boolean, or a number (byte, short, int, long, float, double) is a pointer to an object, and that includes arrays (which are objects) and strings (which are Strings). Java passes everything by value, including pointers.

If you're looking to do string manipulation, you need to decide if your code is performance-critical or not. If it is, instantiate an appropriately-sized StringBuffer ahead of time, and mutate the contents of the StringBuffer. If it's not (and it's not), then just work with string literals and infix operators like in VB, PHP or JS. The JVM has extremely good GC, and can optimise away almost all of your throwaway Strings.
>>
>>296461
Another tip for OP, I remember in my first ever Java class they asked us to think of Strings as a list of chars

How do I find the largest area of a triangle within the unit circle? I hope at least one of you can help.
7 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>296430
It's obvious that the vertexes of the triangle have to be on the edge of the circle.
Now, if you pick any 2 random points on the edge of the circle, the triangle will have the largest area if the 3rd vertex is on the other side of the circle, directly in the middle between the other 2 vertexes. This means that the triangle you are looking for is an isosceles triangle.

Can you figure out the rest? You have to use calculus and stuff, can't prove this geometrically alone (I think).
>>
>>296435
Thanks. I will try figure out the rest on my own.

I'm pretty sure the triangle must be equilateral. Otherwise its area can again be improved. Pic related
So no calculus is needed. Just find the maximal equilateral triangle.

I've tried reverse google searching for this and using a sourcefinder site and could not find the source for this. Not sure if its SFW or not.

I'm having an issue with my drawing tablet (pic related)

Installed W7 recently, got the drivers from wacom installed too. It's still blinking and not detecting anything. Tried using the CD drivers that came with the tablet too and that didn't work

I really want to draw again wat do

>>
>>296348
Have you tried all the USB ports you can?
What version of drivers are installed?
Have you tried resetting the prefs?
Should have something like this: C:\Program Files\Tablet\Wacom\32\PrefUtil.exe
Run it, hit Remove.

Also, if you're installing new tablet drivers from Wacom, make sure you uninstall the previous version first since I heard sometimes it'll fuck up and not install on top properly.
>>
>>296354
Tried versions of pic related, but haven't tried to do an uninstall firsthand. I'm going to uninstall and try out the .19-3 version and repeat witht he other version just to see if I get anything different
>>
Update: whenever I uninstall, the tablet stops blinking and detects my pen (glowing blue on thebright side). However, I'm unable to move my pointer around with it. Once a driver is installed it goes back to blinking on and off and being unable to detect my pen. Still don't know a potential issue
