Top rectangle is the problem.
Bottom rectangle is the answer.
No matter what value I input between -1 & 1, I always get a negative answer. I cannot get a positive answer to make the inequality true.
I can show work if necessary, but it's a bit messy.

You're probably confused by the double minus sign.

I think showing your work would help find the problem in your work, but, uh, whatever, let's try some numbers
