I am trying to set up my laptop to dual boot with Ubuntu 16.04 in addition to the Windows 10 that came pre-installed. I partitioned the hard drive with no problems, the GRUB 2 works perfectly well, and Windows 10 is still miraculously unharmed.
However, Ubuntu is fickle. Sometimes it boots with no problems, but it usually gets stuck after it "can't request region for resource" (see pic related, crudely captured with my phone camera). What does this mean? How do I fix it?
Thanks, and I'm not a very computery guy, so sorry if it seems I have no idea what I'm talking about, because I probably don't.

That's not your real error.
Unless you have a Thinkpad or similar, you don't even have a TPM. The real error is happening after the TPM error, and you're not seeing it because hard lock.
Why are you trying to dual-boot anyway?
What's wrong with VMWare?
>>155581
I don't like Microsoft for petty reasons, so I thought I'd try out some alternatives. I tried out Ubuntu on VirtualBox and liked it, and decided I wanted it to be my main OS. But I didn't want to just throw out Windows, so I thought, why not dual-boot?
Like I said, this stuff is higher over my head than I was expecting, so I knew it would be something silly like that. (I was thinking I could just search the whole process online and magically be done.) Thanks for the tip!

if it goes in a girl's hair, it's a bobby pin. if it holds the end of a bolt cap on, it's a cotter pin.

Just upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, back on windows 7 I could have my microphone level at 35/100, and skype at 75/100, but now they seem to be paired, and when I change one, the other is automatically set to the same.
How can I set it so I can have them at different levels again? Thanks in advance

I have no idea what happened I didn't hit anything with it I'm pretty careful with my phone but almost a year ago it got hit and the bottom three buttons dont work so I downloaded Omni swipe and something potentially unrelated it has stopped connecting specifically to my home WiFi over a couple of months it would only work in certain rooms and then eventually not at all also back to this shit it appears to be getting worse this morning it was light blue lines and very little green and now its all turning green and the discoloration appears on top of all colors mostly just the green shows up on top of pictures and other things so please help I can't really afford to get a new phone at the moment unless I absolutely have to
I downloaded Pokemon go yesterday this started this morning I doint that matters but whatever my phone is fucked
Self bump because the only reply was my own and I'm ducking panicking
Bump me daddy help me please
This is someone's "OC". It's a clear tracing of a popular manga/anime series. I can't quite put my finger on it, though.
Any ideas what was plagiarized?
This is their newest "OC".
I think they just drew their own character onto one of those blank Deviantart templates.

That second one, though... Really fucking familiar. Like it's a cover of a volume or something.
My computer goes very slow and crashes when I access folders with many files. It hasn't been a problem for a while, but today I've had three crashes.
I can reproduce the problem by opening any folder with a lot of content and waiting, or by clicking deeper and deeper and trying to open things. Generally speaking, trying to open a file that hasn't loaded a thumbnail will cause issues. It also seems that if I visit any one folder enough the problem goes away, but if I start suddenly using another I'll get the problem again.
(pic unrelated outside of being computery)
>>155406
I should note, CPU and memory usage appear to be perfectly normal while this is happening, but the machine freezes up completely for minutes at a time and eventually crashes.
try defragging your hard drive, it's probably super fragmented
>>155450
That seems to be recommendation number 1 from a number of sources. What risks are there to defragging? I've got pieces saying you should back up everything beforehand; is that overly cautious?
