Nothing wrong with them. Guy who wrote that is probably just a quality elitist with a good internet connection. If you need smaller movies, YIFY is ideal.

The quality is terrible, even streaming it from Netflix would look and sound better

If you want your fansub to be a simulacrum of a commercial release, then YIFY is not for you.

Personally, I think little touches like in-jokes over the ad-break credit splashes are fun and whimsical and distinguish the product from the boring clinical translations churned out in Texas, but each to his own.

If you don't like them, you won't like GG either. I've noticed that not liking this sort of thing is strongly correlated with a "mount stupid" amount of experience of Japanese or animu, though.

You might like endless legends. It's closer to the Civilization games, although it's more about abusing what your faction is good at, and it's got a fair amount more depth than the Civ games.

You can also consider Age of Wonders 3. Its like Heroes of Might and Magic but with better tactical depth.

If you want to try something more different, check out Sengoku Rance. Its porn with rape, but with strategic RPG elements that can actually get pretty hard.

I know how you feel. If you're like me you've tried mostly everything the grand strategy genre has to offer at this point.

I know it's not a recommendation for something current, but Mount & Blade: Bannerlord and The Guild 3 are both probably coming out this year as something to look forward to.

The M&B and Skyrim mod communities are still pretty active to this day. They gave me an extra 20-30 hours of gameplay in the last few months.
