We need to have a robot thread, so post your robot webms
Machinery and technology funny or interesting stuff
Everything's welcome, but here we'll look at fictional robots with scepticism and distrust
this aint really a robot but it's an amazing achievement for technology to me, and that should be all from me
I'll go find more robot hopefully
>>1846650
lmfao
>>1846658
>this aint really a robot but it's an amazing achievement for technology to me
Huh? It's a theremin, an electronic instrument that will be 90 years old next year. The only amazing achievement here is that wholly biological lady's impressive dexterity with it.
>>1846675
Yeah, I thought it had to something more like "steampunk" technology rather than modern technology
It still does fit [altough by stretching] my definition of robot, in the same way an elaborate wood puppet or a vehicle would
Yeah maybe machinery is the term I'm looking for?
>>1846681
>It still does fit [altough by stretching] my definition of robot, in the same way an elaborate wood puppet or a vehicle would
It doesn't remotely fit the definition of a robot, even by stretching it.
A robot is a machine that performs tasks automatically. Where you draw the line at how automatic a robot is could potentially result in stretching the definition - what degree of preparation or instruction constitutes an automatic action?
A theremin is a musical instrument. It's an electronic instrument but it's a fully analog thing, it's not like a Yamaha keyboard, you can't program it. It has no autonomy or even potential for autonomy, it literally won't make a sound unless someone is in front of it operating it. It's entirely outside the definition of robot, no matter how stretched.
Even if you were to discard that line of thought and decide that "a mechanical device is a robot regardless of the degree to which it's being operated by a human" - which is definitely wrong but seems to be "your definition" of a robot since you suggest puppets and vehicles are robots - a theremin has no moving parts. It's an entirely electric device, it's not a mechanical one. The only moving part of a theremin is the person operating it.
Sorry to go off on one here. It just strikes me as odd that someone would make a robot thread titled "robot thread" and then feel fine with not only posting something that unequivocally isn't a robot but would also to try to come up with an excuse for it. By your example I could go on to fill this thread up with webms of cars, or hell, just anything that runs off electricity.
Of course, maybe I'm in the wrong for sperging out over this when, depite the title of the thread, in the OP you say "Machinery and technology funny or interesting stuff. Everything's welcome" which broadens the subject of the thread even further. By that criteria I could fill this thread up with webms of cavemen using stone tools.
>>1846630
Animatronics has improved a lot while I wasn't paying attention
>>1846866
A longer but less professionally shot view
>>1846791
is there a person inside this?
also, for >>1846783
thank you for your correction
Yeah I used the term robot incorrectly, but as you noticed I was going for a not so strict policy
You could fill this thread with caveman with rocks by definition but I'd like the rock to be some sort of contraption they should flash have some steam or do a beep boop
That's my silly definition, but dont think I dont know you are correct
>>1846868
>>1846866
this actually is incredible, thank you
>>1846868
Holy shit, thats some pretty natural and fluid movement. Color me impressed
>>1846643
Can someone pleease post the one with the terminator end?
>>1848880
Looks like some japanese toys from some years ago? I can't remember what it's called.
>>1848148
Gotcha senpai.
>>1848880
aktshually it's angular momentum
Posting some Battlebots.
>>1848880
Serious question: this is nice and all, but why haven't anyone in these robotics and battling comunities made these fucking huge already?
Like these size of small car huge, with combustion engines, multiple operators for different weapon systems and all?
Is it budget restrictions?
I mean the rc modelling community gets crazier by the day with modelling of vistually everything under the sun, and some of these models (mostly planes) are already bigger than your compact car. Why cant these follow suit.
>>1850211
IT'S TOO BAD SHE WON'T LIVE
BUT THEN AGAIN WHO DOES
>>1850080
Probably because if anyone built a battlebot the size of a car, they'd most likely go to jail for creating a real weapon that can kill a lot of people.
Those tiny battlebots are deadly, too, but you can hop over it or flip it over with a broomstick. A car sized one could easily just kill anyone near it.
And the REAL long short of it is, car-sized ones would warrant laws and regulations and no hobbyist is wanting to get an actual "you will be penalized by the law if something goes wrong" license for a battlebot.
I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet
>>1846650
music sauce?
>>1847603
I laughed way harder at this than I should
>>1847603
I just can stop thinking about the person who made this. In this limited field of view we know this person has at least 4 cats and 2 robots.
>>1851219
Battlebot types aren't tiny at all like the Japanese ones in the fist of the north star teleports behind you webm.
>>1854253
Are you retarded, or do you live under a rock?
>>1850080
Next month

>>1849068
thank you
It's amazing how far we've come
>>1854828
fucking lost
>>1854429
They're still smaller than anon's proposed car-sized murder machines.
>>1850080
square cube law
>>1854385
Plus the general lack of reaction from the cats makes me think this happens fairly regularly. Any cat I've ever owned would freak out if that robot came anywhere near them.
>>1849970
That's some really impressive driving by the lil' bulldozer guy. Especially early on when he's pressing the advantage as much as possible, to try and keep the flywheel from spinning up again.
>>1848880
Man the guy that pilots tombstone is an absolute cunt. He will go back and completely destroy an opponents bot after he's won.
>>1854524
I was wondering if they were still going for that, shame it wont be live.
Eagle Prime all the way baby
>>1851970
HA!
>>1848880
does anyone have the one with the girl that's talking up her bot and her abilities but then is completely wrecked 5 seconds into the match?
>>1846681
What the fuck is happening here?
>>1846681
someone post the star wars edit
>>1855381
because savage tribal people good and civilized man (see: white) who wants to create and invent things with their resources bad
>>1850211
>what is my purpose
>you fuck up
>oh my god
>yeah welcome to the club pal
>>1846650
That's a fucking robot
>>1846636
Somebody please Photoshop paint cans in its manipulators.
>>1856799
It's Killdozer mating season
>>1846630
I like this one, but I feel like it needs to hold the freeze frame a bit longer before the fade to black.
>>1855797
But that's what people want to see. I got bored of Robot Wars and Battlebots since people would always win by just knocking the other guy into a hole. I wanted to see robot carnage!
>>1860280
Just like that Japanese cartoon spirit of the egg
>>1861047
Ok, that was underwhelming. I was expecting some crazy science guy that build robots
>>1861098
I was too, but I do enjoy orange cats.
>>1861119
I liked when they fell in the bathtube. Two of my cats are orange to, they are cute indeed.
>>1846868
Less of robot than the retarded drones with their cell phones up.

>putting a right hand on the left arm
wew
>>1850080
There are different weight classes, so the matchups are approxinatly fair and to be quite honest, the lighter classes are more interesting to watch than the heavier classes. Heavy bots are huge slabs of armor, while the lighter bots are more creative.

Robot cruelty

I want to cum on her moustache fuzz

That's a gravity powered automaton

The chosen one couldn't beat a tiny net either
I can remember how hype this made me two years ago. Not sure what ever happened to the duel...
>>1861774
>Read up about it
>Was supposed to happen last month and got delayed to this month
>Japan hasn't shown off the version of Kuratas that will be fighting
Feel the American's showing off Eagle Prime is going to bite them in the ass. Like shouldn't you be holding your cards instead of letting your opponents see what you have in store?
IF it even happens.
>>1850211
>that happy "I completed a task!" beep at the end.
>>1846658
I wish I could play one of those
>>1850175
Turing Test Complete.
>>1860285
Having dealt with that fucking Baxter robot for the last year, can confirm he's a cunt. I'm kinda surprised they managed to actually make him move somewhat accurately at speed though, that's a huge bane of my existence right now
>>1850211
At least she's reading a decent book
>>1846681
This looks so fun. Imagine if those were giant ass mechass
>>1862366
I think what they may be doing is not just adding hype to the fight, but to the grand plans behind the fight. They really want a giant robot fighting league.
>>1846650
sauce on music?
>>1846645
>That accent
Is he even allowed to own a knoife?

Some of the worst mechanical design. So glad they got rekt. A shame they didn't meet tombstone
