the probelm is that you're putting in too much detail (shadows & highlights) so that makes the eyes seem weird if they aren't there, but are too complex of a feature if you leave them in so that looks weird too. I think that if you use one color for hair, one for skin, and two for the clothes and you leave out the eyes, it would look better.

This time i got it right. The eyes were a little out of shape and had a lack of detail. I added some reflections and a gradient to give them more depth.
I also missed a detail on the right shoulder, added that too.

This is the resulted render. As you can see i used two or three variations per color. This gives much more depth to the outcome. Ironically the more detail the original has the easier is it to convert it to a style similar to mine.

I suggest you posterize in illustrator instead of photoshop so it'll be a vector. That way you won't be limited to the resolution of the source image.

Also if you plan on showing the original image, you should post your progress in the IMT thread and then post the final product here to make things consistent.

If you only use the pen tool there is no advantage to use illustrator over ps. The scaleability of forms created by the pen tool is there.
Formats like svg and ai, despite all the advantages, are just not supported well enough in the web. At least for now.

its an issue of displaying partal transpareny on different systems and programms. Chrome, windows picture viewer, illustrator and ps dont show the lines. In firefox i see both lines and ie shows only the right one.

Ahh that would make sense. Anyways, do you manually make these minimalism pictures or do you have a shortcut that does most of the work? Once I am done with my current minimalism picture I shall post some that I have made

Hi Kira, i made them without using any automatism . it costs a lot of time but the outcome looks much better. But there is a way zu transform a selection into a pathway in Ps. http://www.obsidiandawn.com/paths-photoshop-tutorial
I tried it with this picture and the result tends to be very edged. I had to tweak the paths a lot. Not sure if the effort is worth the truble. Maybe its faster to use it for outlines and create the highlits afterwords manualy?

None of those show the line(s) in my image viewer. Neither does the one from this link
