There's absolutely nothing wrong with flying enemies. Water levels, on the other hand, always abandon a game's usual rules and make everything way too slow.

Water levels were fine back when most games didn't implement some kind of breath holding system.

Flying enemy only sucked early on when a lot of games didn't let you aim on the diagonal
