What's your favorite Need For Speed game?

I only had 1 for the PC, and also Underground 2.
Series went to absolute shit after that.

1 still holds up though, just one of those great timeless classics.

It was pretty, yes, but the gameplay and physics even more simplistic then in NFS2. It was basically an engine test for Underground.
Not considering change in tone, U1 was an improvement in every way, and U2 is probably the best open world racing ever made. But i won't talk about it cause not retro.

Underground wasn't an improvement in any fucking way. The physics were worse and it wasn't at all fun to play.

By the way, I'm speaking specifically of the PS2 version of HP2, which it notably much better than the other versions.

Is Need for Speed 3 the same thing as the PSX Hot Pursuit game? I was always confused because the box said "Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit," but I was also aware of a PS2 game called "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2." Seemed weird that 3 could come before 2, but now I understand that they weren't even counting the same thing.

Anyway, this is my favorite NFS game. Played this shit so much back in the day, I even got racing wheels for it. I liked it better than GT2.

Nah, that's s pretty good opinion. Those games played like ass. I'd actually go so far as to say that Porsche Unleashed was actually the last good NFS game. Black Box fucking killed the series.
