Underrated title, check out the Dizzy games as well, they're very similar by the same guys at Codemasters
Do you guys ever mod old games?
Mostly just bug fixes or improvements from romhacking.net
Also the smooth day to night castlevania 2 patch is worth its weight in gold.

im the only one who loves the FFVII big head models ? i think they where really charming and part of what made the game special
This game sucks.

Go home James, you're drunk.
It takes too long to buy stuff and to add onto the problem, when you die - you lose all your hearts and you have to start all over again. Doing this doesn't add to any of the games' difficulty or challenge, it just makes us have to do more of the same monotonous stuff over again, and it's not fun - it's boring.
What charts, graphics, or data have you found that's helpful to understanding something about retrogaming better?
(Same chart but with the PS2 fucking with the scaling more -- it's just Wikipedia numbers)
Why is the Mark 3 distinct from the SMS? The difference isn't bigger than between NES and Famicom.
>>3321648
>fucking with the scaling more
use a logarithmic scale
Just bought this on the steam sale, wat am i in for
pretty disappointing level design.
It sucks as a traditional Sonic Game.
But if you go for the good ending using the "find Metal Sonic Projection and Roboticizer in the Past" route, you'll be in for a C+ exploration based platformer with Sonic physics.

Sega > Sony
Deal with it.
So, can you fix gamepads or is it best to just toss em when they begin to get faulty?
Example, I currently have a logitech gamepad that has served me well for a long time, but just recently the up button on the D pad doesn't work right, if I press it with the same force I do any of the others it doesn't work and I really have to jam it down to get it to respond.....what's up with that? Fixable or just throw it out?
>>3321414
Easy fix. Open and clean most likely.
Personally I usually only fix rare or original system controllers.
Things like racing wheels, fishing rods, fight sticks, original or refresh controllers (example the Duke for Xbox and S model) and as I said rare like Steel Battalion, are all controllers I will open to refurbish if broken.
Controllers like that logitech or Nyko airflow no. I would never myself open them as they are cheap to start and not worth the time..
Aside from joysticks, controllers for old systems are pretty rugged and hard to really break in any permanent way. The main problem you'll usually see with them is the rubber membrane under the buttons start to wear down and they become less responsive over time.
If you have a problem with your controller you can always just give it a thorough cleaning. Disassemble the controller and throw the shell and rubber membrane contacts into a bucket with soapy water to remove all the crap then rinse them off with water. Clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol and a qtip.
>>3321503
Man, I have a Logitech Rumblepad 2 and this thing just won't pull a part, and I also can't find any video of anybody taking one a part....
Do they make some controllers glued shut or something?
This hot garbage just came out and it's getting shilled to high hell, let's have a laugh

Compiling some 2spooky music for a project.
What sort of stuff on retro games was creepy as shit despite the limited music hardware?SNES/Genesis music preferred, but everyone's free to discuss anything.
Let's get the obvious stuff out of the way.

Some tracks of the Kamaitachi No Yoru (horror visual novel) soundtrack for SNES I think is worth listening to for spooky, atmospheric music.

If one was wishing to get into mm, where might he/she go?
It comes on so many different platforms, which is best?
>>3321236
Start with 1 on the NES. They all hold up well
Yup. Starting on the nes is an excellent way to go. Just bought every game in your pic from an seller in Japan and don't regret it a bit.

How much did you end up paying?
Why was Super Mario 3 so superior to its successor Super Mario World?

Both games are GOAT, but I prefer SMW simply because of better/more advanced physics

Is anyone ever going to finish translating this?
This would be one English translated reproduction I'd actually buy.

nah

If I recall they were translating it, but it stalled.

Metroid? We already got a version released in the US that was translated. It's called "Metroid"
Back in the golden age of gaming, were you mostly a console gamer or a computer gamer?
>>3319151
Smartphone gamer.
>>3319151
console. Just didnt like the keyboard mouse
>>3319151
Both. Console games were for when Mom and Dad needed to work, and PC games were for when they wanted to use the TV.
Eventually my parents got a nice office computer for themselves and let us have "the family computer," which we were free to mess around with, although we still had a lot of console games. Having multiple ways in which we could play games was especially important in a house with multiple kids since we didn't have to fight each other as much for a turn (though we still did have occasional spats about who was spending too much time on one particular machine).
These days TVs are so cheap that even a lot of average families can afford to stash one in every room. I feel like having to learn to share everything built character, though.
Why is the Net Yaroze so expensive? I mean, I can understand why:
>black Playstation
>dev kits
>demo discs
>online sharing of demo discs
>no continent restrictions, play US/Australian/European games on your Japanese console!
But I didn't think it'd be this expensive, not passing $1,300, at least, and this is the cheapest one.

>>3319113
if some nigger made and received funding for making potato salad, you can make one for this
>paying that much for a net yaroze
You're better off getting a PSIO or a modchip at this point.
Is there any reason to buy an original Atari 2600?
My friend does RGB modding for the system, and it looks damn good. It's made me want one. But looking at it's library of games, they just don't seem like they are actually worth playing more than once or twice for a little bit of time.
There are a lot of fantastic games on Atari depending on your taste. Some interesting ports have been done as well. Check out: Kung Fu, double dragon, berserk, hero, pitfall, frogs and flies, adventure, defender, Mario bros, and river raid. Those games all make an rgb Atari well worth it
No. Just play the crap on emulation.
>>3319013

Why the fuck is it so fuckimg hard? I'm playing it in Nestopia, saving state, and it's even impossible to pass stage 3...
Also, post more hard nes games.
