Is it wrong to love fighting games but still be terrible at them?
>>3333471
Not at first, but if you really loved them you'd probably be inspired to get better at at least some of them.
>>3333512
What if I'm actually retarded?
Can it really be considered "iteration" if the controllers were part of the same generation?
Are there any examples of retro game companies just stealing controllers? This would never happen nowadays.
Didn't Microsoft have a direct hand in the development of the Dreamcast? Or at least its online functionality?
>>3332439
Yes, OP has no idea what he's talking about.
What do you think is the most popular classic game you have never even played a second of?
I want to get into Castlevania, but it always seems to get put on the back burner. I've been burning through Shin Megami Tensei games, but I'm gonna try and get through Castlevania next.
>>3331881
Metal Gear for the PS1. People say it's fucking great and stuff, but I'm not into that type of game so I've never played.
I only played a few minutes of FF IV on emulator, ages ago (like in the year 2000), and never touched a Final Fantasy game again.
I don't know why, I just never did, I played Dragon Quest and SMT, but not FF.
>>3331894
I don't think I've ever talked to anyone that likes Dragon Quest but not classic Final Fantasy. Dragon Quest is so vanilla that you would think that you could pick up any turn based JRPG.
That's not a slight on DQ, it's nice to have a traditional series when you look at what FF eventually turned into.
Does anyone know where to get the SNES version english pre patched? I don't trust nicoblog.

Previous thread: >>3309078
This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

Toot toot...anti-PVM train rolling through. Friendly reminder that retro games were meant to be played on retro consumer grade sets and you can find them for $0-$50 easily...toot toot

Anyway, it's pretty weird that there's these rando humans living in Kirby land.

Mario falling from a jump in SMW always looked really off to me
The PS4 port of Metal Slug Anthology came out today, and it's not shitty (at least from what I've seen). So, let's have a Metal Slug thread. Portable entries are fair game, too, I guess. What's your favorite game? Favorite Super Vehicle?
>>3339768
i played X on the PS1 way too many times, 3 wins second place because of the cool levels and gimmicks

What do you guys think of cutthroats: terror in in the high seas?
In my opinion, it's the best pirate rpg game i've ever played. The music was awsoeme, it had lots of details and was really immersive.

Because that thread had little information so now people will have it easier to understand what i'm talking about.
btw, already downloaded the game but being the computer pleb i am, i don't know how to open a .mdf file
>>3339515
oh, youre the OP from the other thread?
did you download the isozone rar?
it came with winxp and win7 patches, its 2mb let me know if you need it
mdf/mds files are 'perfect' "physical" readouts of CDROMs capable of emulating physical defects that were part of some copy protection techniques
it means that you can emulate the CDrom image and the game wont see the difference, you dont need cracks.
software "Alcohol 120%" creates mds/mdf images
but both daemon tools 347 and magiciso are capable of emulating the images, u just gotta check the option for "emulate copy protection" or some similar prhasing
new daemon tools is adware infested, get freeware version 347 at oldversion.com
Is there any trick to avoiding lightning strikes or is it pretty much dumb luck?
I've gotten pretty good at avoiding earthquakes, but lightning doesn't seem to have any kind of telegraph.
General Star Control thread.

The scanner tells you how severe the light ing is before you land.
Before I get the lander upgrades I avoid anything with higher than like severity 3 its usually not worth the fuel/crew

It seems random enough.
I've never noticed any tells.
Spathi are cute! Cute!
Why did Sega put so much effort into giving Fantasy Zone such a fleshed out and strange story, just for them to never use it or space harrier ever again?
At least it explains Fantasy Zone 2's subtitle.

Man, what the fuck
/vr/ comedy
>>3339358
Memes are notcomedy though.
Say what you want about the low quality of RF, but it was the only thing that you could piggyback x times allowing every single system to run from Channel 3 without having to mess with a single input, clunky cvbs wires, or lamenting over not having AV ports at all on your shitty CRT.
And you can do this too.

I dont know if a minor convinence is worth eye cancer.
I always thought it was interesting how hotels always managed to find TVs that have no inputs other than coax.
