Anyone built a retro emulation box? I'm planning to build a new PC that can handle the modt CPU-intensive emulators and connect to a CRT. This would, of course, be focused on MAME and pre-5th gen platforms. What would be the best displays? The right case size? Could I do anything for lightguns and such?
are there no /g/ods among us?
>>3390241
Just why
Connect your TV to your PC and enjoy.
>Could I do anything for lightguns and such?
Wiimotes.
>>3390812
yeah but what tv
How to play this?

Enter the command for your move when the wrestlers' palms hit each other's shoulders.
Y + D-pad = Weak grapples
B + D-pad = Medium grapples
A + D-pad = Strong grapples
Y + A = REALLY FUCKING POWERFUL GRAPPLE
X + D-pad = Irish whip to the ropes or corner
This applies to back grapples as well, except with back grapples one wrestler will be on the defending end and they can only counter with either Y or B.
You need to do a little damage before medium grapples will work, and heavy damage before strong grapples will work.
With an opponent hunched over in the corner you can use Forward + A for a corner attack, Up + A to put them on the top rope facing outward, or Down + A to put them on the top rope facing inward. When they're on the top rope you'll automatically grapple up again and then you have to push A when your palms hit their should to do a move. Not all wrestlers have corner moves though, so just experiment to see which ones work.
Also, look for "Bill Battershill" on google or at the Fire Pro Arena forums. His saves for this game are LEGENDARY.
I'm also working on a massive save pack for this game that should be done some time this year.
There are also FAQs on GameFAQs. Look those up.

How defend against submission or pin?
>>3390475
I just mash buttons, don't know if it really works or not.
Also try conserving energy by doing weaker moves first. I know the GBA versions have the 'rest' button so you can recover while your opponent is down.
>that guy who calls composite cables 'RCA' cables
RCA introduced the design commonly used for composite signals.
Any cable with an RCA connector is technically an RCA cable.
>>3389915
1. It is misleading to say RCA when you mean composite, as non-composite RCA cables exist.
2. They are called RCA connectors, not RCA cables.
>that guy who doesn't
Dreamcast thread. What do you think of the dreamcast games, hardware, online (when it was relevant and online now) the indie scene, etc?
a few good pc games were on dreamcast so it must've been good as well
it also almost used 3dfx graphics chips
My favorite Sega console and it solidified my love for arcade games thanks to the quality of its NAOMI conversions.
>>3384392
it really needed a second control stick
So where does she keep all these APPLES?
In her cooch obv.
>>3382948
in your mum
>>3382952
WHAT WAS THAT?
Would anyone like to make a zine here?
I'm guessing submitted articles is the best approach.
There could be a hardware section, game reviews based on consoles, comparisons between different versions of a single game, whatever fits to be honest.
Of course as long as it doesn't take away from /vr/.
>>3367292
When I was a kid I wanted to make zines. I used to make my own incredibly shitty ones with word and computer papaer.
I guess it is still interesting to me.
Okay I'm in let's do it
>>3367292
Good idea. We could also have a section on rom hacks, since they aren't usually covered, specially in magazines. Comparing different versions of the same game would give a good food for debate. And how about a section covering news about things related to /vr/? (for example, the NES mini)
Who will edit and compile the material?
Let's discuss how III is overrated, IV is for casuals, X68000 is under-appreciated, and Rondo is the best Castlevania.
>>3339395
Uh, at this point I think we've gone full circle.
III is underrated, hardly anyone talk about it other than to say "hey, I'm so hardcore, I like III the best", but nobody really played it.
IV is for hardcore players because most people actually give up at stage 8, despite "whip is OP" shenanigan arguments.
X680000 is the neo-hipster choice.
And Rondo is the worse CastleKino because moe.
>>3339395
They probably stop playing at stage 8 because they get so bored by it, not because it's too difficult.
>>3339436
What about the rest, do you agree?
Also, you forgot to mention Amigavania, where does it fit on the scheme?
YU-NO is a classic gem.
It never saw the light of day outside Japan. It's a point a click adventure game/Visual Novel that includes time travel and parallel dimension aspects in terms of gameplay (obtained items are kept when going back in time).
The game was made in 1994 and finally got translated in English in 2011, and the protagonist's voice actor is the same guy who voiced Adult Link in Ocarina of Time. Is there anyone who could do a blind-commentary/blind-let's play of it online? There has yet to be anyone who did.
There's a remake that's coming out within a year which I think sadly omitted the awesome classic chiptunes the original one had from the late Ryu Umemoto and changed for other tunes (unconfirmed?)
If you haven't played this before, I highly suggest it if you're into Sci-Fi (mainly pseudo-science).
Great game, very unique. I would usually never suggest reading a HG101 article but the one on YU-NO is excellent and very well-researched. The main director's aspirations were just insane, especially that he tried to squeeze them all into the VN framework.
>Is there anyone who could do a blind-commentary/blind-let's play of it online? There has yet to be anyone who did.
Well it IS a still a eroge, unless they're uploading it to Pornhub it's not really gonna work. The remake looks like ass, frankly. 90s VN aesthetics are comfy as fuck, YU-NO's music especially is something else. Character design is probably the original's weakest point and the remake manages to do worse and make everyone completely generic. Not really sure who it's aimed at or what it's purpose is, to be honest.
The eroge parts could be censored easily from how rare it is. And I agree, the remake sort of butchered the character designs, which is why I'd probably usher my friend towards this one rather than the new.

Best retro soundtrack, ever.
Is the New 3DS good with emulating SNES games with Virtual Console?
I kinda want to get Earthbound and a few others
>paying for emulation
>>3400903
It's 10 times cheaper than buying the SNES cart.
>>3400874
New 3ds is okay at emulating SNES games outside of VC
get dat homebrew launcher
I'm on vacation and didn't have much to do so I decided to download a torrent of 900 nes roms. I'm about half of it and I've seen that the percentage of titles that are worth playing (not great, just good enough to be played) always stay at more or less 20%. What do you guys think? Am I being too good or too bad to the system? Other ones have the same percentage? I'm thinking about doing something like it to the gameboy next
>>3400384
These kind of rom packs are usually missing tons of games, including lots of good ones.
>>3400384
>What do you guys think?
I think personal taste varies. If you go by someone else's list of games that are worth playing you're going to miss out on ones you may have liked that they didn't. You can choose to follow someone else's list if you want, but I think it's a lot more fun to just play the games and discover for yourself what you like and what you don't.
>>3400384
I've no idea what you're even asking but just grab your games from the no-intro collections on archive.org
People call this game shitty but i think other wines. what do u guys think
>>3400269
I think it's just really unpolished.
Same about the Friday The 13th game (which I think could be a pretty good game with some changes and fixes).
>>3400269
>i think other wines
>other wines
What? Did you mean to type "otherwise?"
>>3400269
>People call this game shitty
e-celebs are not people
What's your favourite D&D styled RPG?
Doesn't have to be on a PC.
>>3400265
Final Fantasy.
>>3400282
Good choice.
>>3400265
The 2002 Neverwinter Nights game even if it has a lot of things I don't like about it and I'm not a big fan of the ruleset. All the top tier custom content balances that out.
For me: NiGHTS in Sonic Adventure.
The atmosphere of Casinopolis and it's hidden areas within the game give me cozy vibes, and this specific level gives me lots of nostalgia.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hZvcz3IO0Q
>>3400231
I had no idea what NiGHTS was when I first played Sonic Adventure when I was 11ish, so the whole NiGHTS sequence was very surreal. Felt pretty cool.
SA's atmosphere reminds me a lot of SM64.
>>3400240
Same experience with here; it was so fuckin' magical as a kid, still is.
>>3400246
The Sonic series in general has an excellent surreality to it. The weird, checkerboard runway world. The unexplained relationship between anthro animals and the few humans we see.
Its very akin to how Mario's world is basically an aesthetically pleasing mishmash of traditionally clashing elements.
Overlooked pinball games for Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance. Pic and video related: a pinball game a la Pokemon Pinball with Super Robot Wars license.

>super robot pinball
I'm fucking sold. Will try it and then report back.
Aren't all pinball games overlooked?
>Pinball of the dead on the GBA.
>>3400294
Games like Pokemon Pinball and Kirby's Pinball Land are famous because of their IPs.
What's your opinion on Erbe Software?
>>3400094
spic
>>3400094
Never heard of them but I'll pretend to hate them if everyone else does too.
Did they develop anything or just distribute foreign games in Spain?
