What games bring history to life?

I'm looking for someone that has a CIB Donkey Kong Country 2 for less than $40
>>3405187
I know how you feel anon. I'm looking for CIB Secret of Mana for only $3. Jeez maybe I should make a thread on /vr/

>>3405187
I have one. But I'm not going to sell it to you.
Any recommendations for DOS emulation on windows 10? maybe something similar to Boxer for OSX, thanks
>>3404962
DOS is not supported on Windows any more because in never was made for secure boot process. I recommend you to stay on Mac, it has DOS emulation at least.
>>3405029
yeah aware of DOSbox but only remember from a few years back, wasn't sure if something else is recommended for DOS emulation now
Do swap tricks damage a disk drive at all? I have a lot of burns I play using my fat playstation and I want to run them on my psone, but I don't see a way to run backups on the psone without a hardmod, which I'm not all that interested in attempting.
There's a video on youtube which demonstrates a 'double swap trick' (though as always I take it with a grain of salt since you could always just play with the feed/have a second system and run its output/etc.) which I'll link here (has loud dance music as a heads-up):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjnTvOvIwfE
Is this a real working setup and can it cause damage to your system at all?
As long as you don't have zero manual dexterity you shouldn't be physically damaging your drive by doing swap tricks, though the imperfections of burnt CDs will cause more re-reads which will decrease the life of the laser (which is true whether you're swapping or chipped).
Buy a silver backed PS-X-Change swap disc it'll let you do swap in backups on a PSOne - or do a soft mod on a slim PS2 they're not much bigger.
>>3404982
I want to do it on the psone because I just got one with the screen and I want to use it as such. I appreciate your advice either way. The PS-X-Change disk looks like what I might want, so I'll check it out.
Anyone here ever played this fever dream from the '90s? I have no damn idea how to make deals with media buyers. I know I can read their biographies, but that only helps so much, and I want to figure things out on a mechanical level. Also I read that certain drinks/foods are more beneficial than others, like Shark Extract/Strawberry Gel/Plasma, or Bagels/Cream Cheese.
Can any oldfag offer any advice?
>>3404881
Holy shit, I had forgotten that game even existed. I remember seeing it in stores. Never played it. It any good?
>>3404881
I don't normally say this, but I think you might wanna watch a Let's Play of this. That game is a balls trip and the best way to learn about it is from example.
Anyone tried these yet?
I'm curious if they're just running on an emulator or not
>>3404634
It's the DOS port, it looks exactly the same as the Genesis version with MIDI music.

Pacman was actually a game for women.
What's the name of that game where you're this red guy killing mushrooms and saving this girl or something. I'm totally 100% a gamer girl who loves to nerd out but I think this one is a bit too obscure x3
>>3404817
You're reminding me of someone who claimed to be a "Gamer Girl" and said, and I quote, "Name a triple a game and I've played it".
I told her to get raped by a cactus and that her power-fantasy war games don't actually count as games.

Please tell me she burst into tears and uncontrollable sobbing.
I have been replaying through Digimon World lately, and I actually think its a very fun game. Its a lot more unique and interesting than its successors, and actually incorporates the pocket pet origins to the franchise into a major part of the game.
However, the one thing that annoys me about this game is the bugs. Like right now I am trying to get all the medals, and for one medal (the town prosperity) I actually was unable to get it due to a bug (my trainer level was too high). I actually had to lower my trainer level and talk to Jijimon in order to get the medal.
At this point I mostly have tournament medals left to get. I currently have pic-related as my current Digimon and he has max stats, however, I can't enter the Metallic Cup for some reason.
According to this guide:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/913684-digimon-world/faqs/45832
Metalmamemon should qualify, yet it does not work.
Does anyone have any knowledge about why this is the case?
Also, this is a general topic for this diamond in the rough game.
No one wants to talk about this game?
2 was just a generic dungeon crawler, and 3 just a generic RPG. 4 I think was just a hack n' slash dungeon crawler.
Supposedly, there was a PSP game that had a lot of similarities to the original.
>>3405090
Yeah it's called Re:Digitize. It's easier than the original, but feels much more polished. it got translated a year ago.
What are some very popular, retro gaming related myths?
>Star Fox crew are amputees
>Zelda and Link are siblings in ALTTP
>>3404391
Isn't that confirmed though?

Where is his scarf?
Are official mem cards only ones worth getting? Any good third parties? Looking at ps1/ps2/gcn
>>3404274
>Are official mem cards the only ones worth getting?
Unless you want to lose saves or have a way to back saves up, yeah.
>Any good third parties?
No
>Looking at PS1/PS2/GCN
PS1 no for sure, PS2 at least you can back shit up onto a pen drive easy as fuck, and GCN can use virtual memory cards on the Wii U and maybe Wii
The Gamecube Nintendo isn't retro.
PS1 third party cards can be unreliable just as >>3404278 said. I have had data just randomly disappear from them.
For N64 I've used pic related for something like 19 years now and I've yet to have a problem with it.
Vampire Hunter or Savior?
Also Darkstalkers thread
also also fuck capcom
>buy darkstaklers game
>no Harry
why
personally I always had a big soft spot for Hunter back when we called it Night Warriors on the saturn. Was actually the game I got the system for.
People who prefer Savior over Night Warriors are fucking casuals.
Have any of you tried operbor games? Are they good quality? Playable enough?
Final Fight with a coat of paint
Op here, i found mugen shitty because of the lack balance and every characters feels the same, is openbor like that?
They are generic and repetitive as you can get in a beat'em up but I like to play it anyway, playing with Zangief in a Final Fight themed game is always fun. There's even one-plan games made with it, I'd love to see Vigilante being remade in OB engine

People tend to forget this console was also a major player during the early 90's. However, perhaps one of the problems it faced in terms of being fondly remembered is a lack of memorable software especially in comparison to the SNES/SFC and Genesis/MegaDrive.
I bought pic-related off the Virtual Console and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its definitely among the Top 3 best games in the Castlevania series. Does the PC-Engine have any other great software, especially stuff that is released on the Virtual Console?
Hard mode: Games that are not shmups.
This is especially challenging considering that this is one of the few genres that the PC-Engine actually dominated over the SFC and MegaDrive.

Soldier
MOTHERFUCKING
Blade
Ys I & II is a must-play if you like action RPGs.
Does anyone wanna talk about this game?
It's my favourite Atari title. I've got a T-shirt with the dragons on.
It was pretty ambitious for the time, but clearly the lack of technology makes it unappealing nowadays.
>>3403881
>dragons, he says
They're ducks.
Good GBA, GBC, or GB games
