Street Fighter II and Alpha series have some of the most broken AI in fighting games. I'm serious: I've played SNK fighters, ArcSys ones, and many others. And Capcom takes the crown for keeping the most unfair yet dumb AI in their flagship fighter, for years.
—The computer doesn't need to charge moves. With Balrog, it can throw bash after bash. With Dee Jay, it can spam reversals/projectiles all day.
—It can get 10+ hits with holds (like Ken's knee bash, or picrelated). This easily destroys half your life bar. This was so in Super Turbo, and wasn't changed even in Alpha 3.
—Most importantly, the computer reads your input and can react with lightning speed to your moves. There's no way a human player can jump AT THE SAME TIME as you and kick you out of the air. Oh, you threw a projectile? Good, AI saw you entered QCF+punch so it jumped beforehand and kicked your ass. You did a sweep? DP your shit… and so on, and so forth.
—Meanwhile, it falls for the most stupid tactics. For example, in Super Turbo, Bison can't do shit against Ryu's whirlwind kick. He always falls for it. Same goes for half the cast. Why does opponent do 3 whiffing DPs in a row? I have no idea.
Just fuck you, Capcom. By 1998, you could have fixed this in Street Fighter Alpha 3. Instead, you kept it unchanged.

That is not MKII nor UMK3....
>>3470878
>>3470879
MK is different story. I never really took it that seriously. Yes, there were big MK championships too, but I doubt many people will tell you it has balance on par with SF/KoF/whatever.
By 1998, KoF'98 had pretty fair, challenging AI, interesting to play against. And SFA3 STILL had the 13+ hit hold bullshit.
>>3470857
You're adorable
So /vr/, I just have finished this game and I have questions.
What the fuck with that ending? We see Ramza and Alma riding chocobos, so they didn't die. But, what about the other party members? Did Agrias, Mustadio, The Thunder God, Rafa, Malak die in the final battle?
Did Delita survive that wound?
Did Olan really had to die? Why didn't anyone tried to save him for fucks sake?
Also, this is the darkest Final Fantasy game I have ever played so far.
>mass murders
>dismemberment
>countless betrayals
>rape of a 13 year old girl

matsuno reads a lot of history books. he based LUCT on the history of the balkans.
FFT strikes me as pretty historically accurate, for a game, until the demons start appearing.
I think matsuno has said ramza is dead, and that him riding of is just a vision of sorts that olan has before he dies, because he's the narrator.
delita lived. that much is made clear from epilogue. he's the hero of the era and the unified kingdom prospers.
The unique characters technically disappear in the story at the point you officially can recruit/dismiss them as regular party members and they stop being guests. Remember the game is being told as a fable years later so using them in the final battle is not canon, only Ramza and Alma are definitely known to be present.
Not sure about Delita but I think it's implied or outright stated he reigned as king for a time and remembered as the hero so he would have survived, but with a tragic twist in that the princess rejected him and lost her own life.
Shame about Oran but Arazlam, who is telling the Zodiac Brave story throughout the game, is his descendant so Oran's work eventually allowed the truth to be known.
>>3470608
They're absent because the ending is a baseline. You don't actually have to recruit Agrias, Mustadio, TG Cid, Rafa or Malak. Which is also apparent because the second they join your party they're completely absent from any kind of speaking role again.
As for getting out despite Rofel destroying the gate, I think it's a Deus Ex Machina related to the Zodiac Stones. Just like how Malak comes back from the dead after Barinten shoots him right before getting thrown off the fucking roof of Riovances by Celia/Lede.
Olan died because he was branded a Heretic by the Glabados Church for publishing his Durai Papers which exposed the church's lies. The Church still had a lot of power and influence in Ivalice despite Delita and Ovelia taking over. It wasn't an uncommon thing in the middle ages, hell Ramza is branded a Heretic and the only reason he doesn't get killed is because he is a literal super badass. The whole "story" you're experiencing is Alazalam Durai's exposing of the "truth" which is basically clearing the name of Olan Durai who is his great grandfather or something.
>Did Delita survive the wound
I think it's implied, it's been awhile since I read the full Zodiac Brave Story stuff. I think he married Ovelia, became King, and then Ovelia was "assassinated".
>Darkest Final Fantasy game I have ever played
Once you understand that Final Fantasy Tactics, is just "Tactics Ogre 2: Electric Boogaloo" it's not nearly as out there or surprising.
TO and FFT have a shitload of similarities.
>Brother and Sister dynamic (Denam/Caitua, Ramza/Alma)
>MC is the X factor and fighting outside of the primary factions
>Princess used by people to get into position of power (Caitua vs. Ovelia)
>Power struggle between factions in a war (Goltana vs. Larg and I can't remember, but it's like Gargistan vs. the rest of Valeria)
>Ancient Evil Awakens type stuff (King Dorgulaualalla or whatever and the Zodiac Braves)
Final Fantasy Tactics is Ogre Battle by any other name.
Which was the better game?

It always annoyed me that merchants in The Dragon's Trap are chain-smoking pirate devil pigs but they feel entitled to refuse showing you their best merchandise if your charisma points are too low
Magical Quest is a good one. Was the 1/2 magic use permanent or only for one level/till the next continue btw?
Pic related, the orignal RPG jew. His name was translated in German into "Raffi"which can almost be translated into "Greedy", although it is more like a play on words in German.
Is this game actually better than the TG-CD version?
Also, what's your favorite Castlevania game?

Is this a troll? it's a completely different game, some people falsely call it a butchered port but it isn't, its a great classic style vania in its own right.
If you mean the PC Engine CD game, Rondo of Blood, they're different games. It isn't better but Vampire's Kiss is the best SNES Castlevania by far.

Well, shit, I can't argue with that.
Which is the best version of Link's Awakening? I sometimes read the colors aren't that good and ruins the atmosphere of the original game
If link's sprite in LA was a stick figure and got changed to a normal looking link in LA DX I am sure there would be people saying the original sprite had more charm or some bs.
There is a such thing as real improvements, not the George Lucas style additions, but genuine improvements.
I feel DX is superior to LA in every way. Or.. Perhaps they should release all zelda games in black and white to add "charm" that apparently gets lost when there is color.

What are the point of playing rom hacks when none will surpass Super Metroid

Same with Z-Factor, and while I wouldn't say it for the original Redesign, the updated "Axiel Edition" is pretty damn good.

When attempting to fix any problems with your old hardware, the first thing you should do is thoroughly clean everything. That may fix whatever problem you had. Check out this guide for tips:

I have a copy of Yoshi's Story for N64 that lately has started crashing after about 15-30 minutes of playtime. When it gets back to the "Nintendo" screen it starts rapidly resetting about once a second. What could be the possible cause of this? Could the capacitor on the cartridge have gone bad, or is there something worse wrong with it? None of my other games are having this problem so it's not the N64's fault.
>>3430262
Have you opened up the game and looked for any visible damage?
>>3430374
I gave it a visual inspection, cleaned the contacts thoroughly and also cleaned up some flux on the back of the board but it still has the problem.
My personal guess is that the capacitor is at fault. In theory, it could be taking a charge when the game boots, but can't maintain it for long and then when the charge runs out, the game resets back to the start screen and keeps restarting because there's no charge left in the capacitor.
I don't have much knowledge of how N64 carts work, but from what I understand if there were any bad traces or broken solder joints on the board it wouldn't be starting up at all. If I can figure out what kind of capacitor N64 cartridges use it would be easy to replace. If that doesn't work then one of the chips might be bad, in which case the easiest fix would be to migrate the ROM chip to a compatible donor cart. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that.
