butthurt much?
>>3677316
literally me
>A crappy Tetris ripoff is better than Ice Climbers or Excitebike according to this board
Dr. Mario is a very, very shitty game. I don't know why Nintendo keep releasing this piece of crap and keep great games like Yoshi's Cookie or Wario's Woods stuck on limbo forever.
>>3677312
duh there's Mario on it, of course it's better.
Did this thing have any challenging platformers? All of them seem much easier than comparable nes games.
Knock yourself out kid
>>3676610
many
>>3676610
>All of them seem much easier than comparable nes games.
There is a certain correlation between challenging and lack of good hardware to make a good game.
When did you get rid of your "collection"?
I got rid of all my shit laying around and haven't been so fulfilled in awhile.
Flashcart master race
Still have it.
A lot of my collection consists of arcade PCBs and undumped or very few of a kind things, so I've no real intention of selling. Don't buy much in the way of retail console software, though, a lot is too expensive for what it is. Cheap stuff, sure, but I don't see myself paying $100 for a single retail game.
sold a bunch of it to pay backtuition
i never really hand one, i would always rent games and by the time i had a job and made my own money emulation became a thing anyways.
Who do YOU choose first?
>>3676461
heat man because I can't wait to jump across that lava river with no rocket skateboard without dying even once
>>3676461
Metal > Flash > Quick > Bubble > Wood > Air > Crash > Heat
air > flash > quick > metal > bubble > wood > crash > heat
What is your most cherished possession?
My games
Assuming my family doesn't count as a possession and my Magic deck doesn't count as a single thing probably my foxbody. My video games as a collection outstrip the above except my wife and kid I GUESS. I suppose there's also my house.
I have a lot of things others might consider very precious such as a copy of earthbound or my professional monitor collection, but if I had to say, I cherish my sega saturn most.
English translation is finally finished lads

about to try it out on softmoded ps2, hopefully it works
I really don't want to emulate
>>3676142
I played the original JP on a chipped PS2, if that worked, the translation should too (so I hear).
I know of this game and Crusader of Centy, any others worth looking at?
>>3675551
If you mean as in top-down action with some puzzle elements, try Beyond Oasis and Alundra.
>>3675568
But of course, thats pretty much the Zelda way.
>>3675551
Neutopia I and II.
Anyone else annoyed that ID completely half-asses the release of their old games?
>Quake: music removed for steam
>Doom: sold independently, all use DosBox (ie lazy emulation)
>Wolfenstein: Dosbox, not packaged with expansion
>Return to Castle Wolfenstein: has problems on modern systems. Needs sourceport to work.
Just lazy no effort releases. What they should do is make proper releases, in new portable engines. And package all the expansions into one package per game instead of buying each separately.
I'd almost say blame Zenimax, but I think iD has been butchering their old releases pretty much ever since they brought them to Steam in the first place. The GoG releases are somewhat better but even then, the dumbasses who package them still don't know how to configure them properly out of the box.
>>3675150
Yeah, I use my steam version of Quake and doom exclusively to take the wad and run them through a better engine, not a lot of work but it would be nice if I could just install and play.
Dosbox runs doom like shit too, I have a cheapo ebook that I use primarily for writing, the steam dosbox release lags on it so I have to use Zdoom.
>>3675190
these re-releases were done years before the zenimax acquisition.
Lately I pretty much only play old point-and-click adventure games.
So far, I've beaten:
>Day of the Tentacle
>The Secret of Monkey Island
>Myst
>Flight of the Amazon Queen
>Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
>Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
I have never played another game as funny as Day of the Tentacle in my life, ever. What other games of this genre should I play? Are there any others as good (as far as puzzles and as far as humor) as DotT?
Monkey Island is in second as far as how funny it is.

Make sure you try Grim Fandango some time too. The Quest for Glory series is one of my favorites, but it's not focused on humor and I suppose it doesn't compare all that well to the Lucasarts stuff.
>>3674235
>Grim Fandango
Been meaning to.
>Quest for Glory
I'll try them out sometime.
>>3674214
I quite like the Space Quest series (my favorite one is Space Quest IV) but it is _HARD_AS_FUCK_.
reload! reload!

SOMEBODY HELP ME
Suffer, like G did?
>>3674102
>millenials will never know the frustration of trying to understand a lightgun game for the first time.
I had to ask the arcade owner how the fuck reloading worked. It's still one of the weirdest mechanisms in existence, when you think about it.
I am trying to think back to the first console or arcade games that had in-game females that were actually attractive enough (detailed enough) to fap to in the eyes of a healthy young man at the time.
Excluding 1980s adult PC titles, or Japanese eroge of the era. Just attractive character designs in the 8-bit era through the mid 80s and beyond.
The earliest I can think of was the girl in double dragon (1987). The panty shot made her especially memorable.
Daphne, MUH DICK.
Outside of eroge, Japan had wonder momo in the arcades in 1987. It was a blatant fanservice fighting game with lots of high kicks, panty shots, and service shots in between stages.

>>3674104
The laser disc games could put in some nice cartoon ladies but that is almost cheating.
Daphne was nice but time gal was a bit more fan service orientated in 1985. She often lost her top or her hotpants in her death scenes. She was a blatant Lum ripoff character too, and Lum was one of japans anime sex symbols at the time.
Was this the last good generation of gaming?
No. So far that'd be 8th gen.
>>3673975
Genesis / SNES. Early 3D required way more than the hardware given. Look at OOT and CBFD running at 20 fps stable.
>>3673975
Just shit all over best console I guess
this game has a great trippy DnB soundtrack
