Making games with other people is a pain in the ass anyways.
Hey /vr/, have you played Atari today? Well, you should.
I tried Commando Raid for the first time. This is an excellent shooting game that plays like a more offense oriented Missile Command. Aim your turret and shoot down the planes, as well as the paratroopers they drop. When the troops reach the ground, they'll start to break down your buildings and tunnel underground. If the tunnel reaches your turret, they'll plant a bomb and you're dead.
Plus it takes place at sunset, which is cool.
I haven't, Op, but I would love to play the original hardware in a crt tv again. And Magnavox Odyssey 2. Holy shit the 80's, what a decade to live.
Try Demon Attack on Atari 2600, now that's a challenging shooter.
>>3679318
Not today but I play on a regular basis.
>>3679318
Battlezone and Robot Tank are groovy as fuck. I haven't had as much fun dying since Super Metroid.
Why does Nintendo keep pretending this was a good game?

It's one of the best racing games ever.
I work for Nintento. It will always be a good game.

Old box

It's not censorship. The red cross and the red crescent symbols enjoy a special protected status and should not be used for things not directly related to the red cross.

>the arcade scene will never come back
>you will never hit the arcade with friends an hour before the movie starts
> you will never again run into the young friendly guy at your local chinese food place who speaks almost no english and find out he's a SF2 master and then have him drive you and your friends home so you can use your bus fare to play more games
feels bad man
>arcade slowly replaces your favorite games for shitty mobile to cade games.
Fuck it mane, I'm gonna make a drive in / arcade when I get done with school
>>3678827
>theater arcade
>tons of classic action, rhythm, puzzle and racing games
>always went hours before the movie just to play the games with friends when I was younger
>go there recently, first time in ages
>everything is a mobile game or some stacker variant
Truly we live in the darkest of times
What am I missing out on if I get a Chinese model? If it can't play certain important games then it's pointless and I might as well pony up for a krikzz.
Same question applies to N64
build quality is also important to me. As for the label, I'd probably peel it off and replace it with a Super Mario World sticker label from retrogamecases or something
The krikkzz version can't even play all of the special chip games either. I think the only notable games it can run that the chinese version can't is MMX2 and 3. There's never gonna be SFX or SA-1 support for any flashcart.
>>3678689
What are the implications? I don't care so much about Starwing for example, but Yoshi's Island and Super Mario RPG are important
What was it about this game that they failed to capture in the sequels?
Interesting question.
For one, till only recently, Nintendo couldn't be bothered to do it themselves and gave it to some mediocre developer.
Second, they only shoved gimmicks in, which at best didn't add much and at worst made it less enjoyable.
>>3678268
Yoshi's Island DS is an excellent sequel.
>>3678268
They didn't accomplish it being fun. Not having the game be outsourced to some freaky ass company couldn't have hurt, either.
Post good chiptunes ITT.

>There are people in this board who would defend this piece of shit
I'll defend a few of the games, it has a fantastic port of Virtua Racing. The add-on itself is ridiculous though.
>>3677865
You had to be there at the time. It got some bloody brilliant AM2 ports. Also its legacy is less tarnished than the Sega CD with its myriad of FMV garbage and weebshit.
No one defends it here. Some people just want one as a curiosity. They like collecting tragic mistakes like the 32x and the virtuaboy.
Retro city-building thread?
SimCity, Caesar, Pharaoh, Emperor, Zeus, 1602 AD, Transport Tycoon, and whatever else I forgot to list, discuss it all here.
I've been playing SimCity 3000 again. Probably my favorite in the series.
>>3677768
>SimCity 3000
its better for a more relaxed playthrough, seein as it doesnt enforce position in the placement of police, bus/train stations
sc2000 really is the brainlust one
age of empires 2, hugest map, mod for 1500pop and multiqueue, create cute scenario in map editor, play on easy mode and just chill making grotesque amounts of villares and trade carts going to enemy markets, and just watch the whole city become alive on its own as your units are constantly killed and replaced
>>3678187
>its better for a more relaxed playthrough, seein as it doesnt enforce position in the placement of police, bus/train stations
Sorry, but what do you mean by that?
>>3677768
I have a hard time deciding whether my favourite is SNES Simcity, SC2K or SC3K. I like the graphics in 2K most and 3K has pretty good music and stuff, and both are more involved simulations than 1 but SNES Simcity is just too damn comfy.
I actually just did a very hard difficulty playthrough of caesar pharaoh and emperor. Pharoah's demographic mechanic makes it the hardest by far.
