This thread is timely given the Electrosphere translation release.
I have myself Air Combat and Ace Combat 2, and perhaps sometime in the near future I will convince myself to live out my weeb airplane fantasies with AC3. Discuss here!
===
I've tried starting both AC1 and AC2 a few times, and there is plenty to like, though there are some control issues that prevent me from totally getting into it:
Mainly when I pass by my target I have to slooooowly. Turn. Around. in order to reorient myself and chase down them bogies. It feels as if half the mission is doing slow circles to turn around.
Any veteran pilots know how to make turns a little quicker? I use "expert" control settings, though I admit handling the plane's yaw, breaks, afterburner, and rolling all at once is pretty complicated.

I just bought Ace Combat 5 for the PS2, but I don't know if it would qualify as a /vr/ game.
Which game is better, AC 2 or 3?
>>3687453
commercially released, AC2 is better than USA's AC3, which gutted most of the content out of the game.
the full games? Probably AC3, though AC2 is fun.

Lesser known N64 games with multiplayer for 4 people.
Alternatively popular games where people forget about the multiplayer.
>>3687138
conkers bad fur day had great multiplayer, but i don't consider it lesser known
>>3687138
One of my favorite N64 games. Why wasn't the sequel as good?
>>3687143
I think the multiplayer for that is pretty well known as well. Less people talk about Banjo-Tooie's.
Gradius vs. Life force/Salamander?
Fight
Both are alright.

So you're playing the fan-censored fan-translation of Grand or the officially-localized vanilla version?
Do you like life force/salamander?
Yes it was the best. The manual was the best also. Vic Viper was key. Being inside a huge beast shit was key. Game was the best. Played it daily for years.
What about the Japan-only arcade sequel though?
Deepest lore
>>3686673
Yes
It was better on NES than arcade.
Opinions?
This game sucks.
But yeah it's pretty boring and easy. I only thank it for laying the groundwork for metroidvanias
Actually fun unlike Zelda 2.

At least Zelda 2 feels like a finished game
I love listen to Sunsoft Soundtracks. They were BTFO:ing all other companies when it came to music.
Thoughts on Sunsoft?
Wakuwaku 8 when ;_;
>>3686237
There's only 7 Waku Waku balls, the next game would be Waku Waku 7 GT.
Not as good as konami
Post ITT if you had this piece of shit.
>>3686206
I remember magazine ads for this piece of shit. They had an N64 version of it too.

Still got one. I used to play Tekken 3 with it so I could run train on fools while smoking weed. Can't do that with the Ascii Grip.
Take a screenshot, photo, or webm of whatever game you're playing at this exact moment. What are you currently balls deep in /vr/? What's got you gritting your teeth? Tell us about it and share what you're playing this very moment.
I'm currently playing Panzer Dragoon Saga, I just got to disc 3.

Got me a n64 with tons of my favorite games. The guy sold me 2 controllers: one with a replace GC joystick and one he said was the original stuff with a good joystick. (wich he probably used some shitty fix since the joystick is stiff as all fucks and no fun to use at all.)
Thing is, fps games or anything that requires joystick aiming is fucking impossible with my controllers. The GC one aims all over the place and has little deadzone by nature, and the other one is just too shitty.
What do you guys use when you play stuff like starfox? Is there a way I can ''fix'' something up?
I use a controller with one of those GC-style replacement joysticks. It works perfectly for all of my games except for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Super Mario 64 has some issue where the game sometimes acts as if the joystick is being pressed upward on its own. Only slightly though, since it causes Mario's sneaking animation to play without him actually moving. It can still make navigation tedious, and has resulted in a few deaths. Anyway, enough rambling.
As for the original analogue stick, they just become loose and shitty after years of use. Pretty lame, but it's unavoidable as far as I know. An easy "fix" is to open the little plastic compartment that holds the analogue stick in place, and wrapping the underside of the stick itself in tape. It's difficult to explain, but a few seconds of googling might tell you more. Personally, I've never had any luck with this method.
Your best option would either be to replace the analogue stick, or just buy a new controller altogether.
I avoided exchanging sticks until it was absolutely necessary when most of my controllers started dying or their sticks became too loose. Actually I enjoy a certain grade of looseness due to me playing rather casually, so the stiffness of the replacements bothered me. Apply some silicone spray and use the controller, it will come with time.

Use an emulator with a better controller?
What is the best version of this game? I have the N64 physically, or is the PC version superior?
Rogue Squadron is dogshit compared to the X-Wing & TIE-Fighter games.
Has any retro video game ever been superior on PC versus its console alternative, to say nothing of later consoles?
N64 has analog control. Would you rather play with pressure-sensitive device or not? I never understood this. I feel like most of you have to be European and never touched an N64. That's the only way I could justify this even being a question?
It's like asking which version of Star Wars Podracer to get. The one that lets you steer, or the one where you click a key to have the game steer for you.
Why don't they make another Chrono Trigger game? I loved those characters, game style and plot. Would it really be so hard? Just retcon the sequel and do it fer real with SNES graphics.
Not retro.

It is discussing Chrono Trigger you idiot, that game was made in 1994.
