Had the 64 DD came out like Nintendo intended, would it have saved the console?
It completely and utterly flopped in Japan, why would you expect any other outcome in the US?
>>3746994
If the N64 was backwards compatible with the SNES, and if the DD add-on used standard CDs, it would've saved the console.

Please actually read the post before replying. Thank you.
So recently I started playing Starcraft again, and I went to track down some of the old mods and maps I played a long time ago. Turns out the site I got most of them from, Starcraft.org, is gone. Does anyone know if the stuff that was up on that site is still hanging around anywhere else? Also, places to find mods for old games in general I guess.
RIP starcraft.org
you just hit me right in the nostalgia feels, man. completely forgot that site existed now I can picture the homepage in my head...
>>3746980
Yeah, was a bit upsetting when I tried to track down some of the mods I liked to just fuck around with when I had some time to burn. I've been completely unable to track down anything other than a small handful of the things I got from that site over the years back before I stopped playing.

<3 wayback machine.
Is this picture accurate?
No. Everyone hates opportunist hoarding reseller scum and wants them to die. Everyone except for opportunist hoarding reseller scum. Flash carts and emulation are the cure for artificial scarcity. Let the fuckers starve.

I just like to play games.
How does /vr/ feel about Retroarch? Is it worth the download or should I just download seperate emulators? I want to start emulating some of the classics and am just wondering which approach to take. Also, give me your game and controller recommendations. I was looking at the Logitech gamepad they sell everywhere but are there better options?
Depends on how much you like tinkering with things.
If you like to spend time customising everything so that it's just right, then use retroarch. It was made for you.
If you want everything to just work out of the box, then don't use retroarch under any circumstances. It's the Linux of emulators.
You might want to ask in the emulator general on /vg/
Vidiot was a magazine dedicated to arcade gaming that released around late 1982 and only ended up with 5 issues due to the crash.
It is hands down the coolest video game magazine ever.
You can read/download 4 of the 5 issues (all but #4) here:
https://archive.org/details/vidiotmagazine
However, the only formats are shit that can't be posted on 4chan. Does anyone know where to get these in .jpg format? Or could someone convert them (without quality or size loss of course)?
>>3746783
Or alternatively, does anyone know where to get a download with the files already in .jpg format?
>>3746836
Download the pdf and then get a pdf-to-png splitter program.
feel free to just discuss old school gaming magazine also

xth for INVULNERABILITY
serious question
would you a demon?
What was the point of these sections of Hyrule Field?
Trees are good for recycling oxygen and shit.
Top has a secret next to tree by the river as well as a hidden fairy fountain if you explore across the river.
The bottom was just there for a Big Poe. The trees are intimidating to you and stop Epona so it's probably the hardest of the ten.

The randomized levels and exciting presents system. Plus it's one of the few 2P games where having a friend actually gives you a significant advantage.
>>3746490
>funny, weird, 90s vibes, funky soundtrack, shared screen multiplayer, good mechanics
it's literally the definition of a fucking great game.
ChrisRayGun has a DOOM poster in his room. Is he ourguy?
I don't know who the fuck he is and I dont give a shit he has a Doom poster in his room.
>>3746391
I have a Dragon Quest VI poster in my room. Am I our guy?No, I'm not
Who the fuck?
what are some funny /vr/ games?

Earthworm Jim, if you get past gimmick stages
>>3746370
Wario Land on occasion.
Pac Man 2 on the SNES is amazing at parties, weirdly I've found the same thing to be true of Night Trap - not intentionally funny but it amuses the fuck out of people.
Can we all agree Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts was the best platformer Capcom produced?

>>3746232
She doesnt use it that often but her normal stuff hurts like a motherfucker too, and you can't really predict her movement at all
Which version to play?
-Uncut
-Best graphics and sound
-Best controls
>>3746156
The one in english.
If you don't speak Japanese you don't have a choice other than Mega CD or some MSX shit.
If you do the answer is probably PCE-CD.
PC-88 is lacking a lot of the later extras.
Graphics, sound and controls are pretty much a subjective thing. You might simply give all versions a spin and stick with the one you find most pleasing.
>>3746156
Sega CD one has incredibly camping voice acting, but it's also super charming and I love it a lot.
It's what most English people played first, and it's a real blast.
Play Policenauts after.
The controls, the setting, the music, the retro feel...
Why did we never get anything -just- like it again?
Tomb Raider was a pretty good spiritual successor. The controls in particular always reminded me of PoP.
>>3746140
Jordan Mechner was the man.
Anyone else ever read his graphic novel, Templar?
>>3746910
Tomb Raider was fucking trash
