Whats your all time favorite game made by SEGA?

Honorable mention to Phantasy Star IV

Fantasy Zone.
Maybe Space Harrier.
Maybe Puyo Puyo.
Maybe Beyond Oasis.
Maybe Crazy Taxi.
It's hard to choose.
Tough choice for me
Virtua Fighter 32X - nostalgia!
Shenmue - most memorable & jaw-dropping
Crazy Taxi - my first addiction
F355 Challenge - so unforgiving, but so rewarding
Sega Marine Fishing - the one I've sunk the most hours into
Go, i need suggestions.

Wasteland is a hell of a lot of fun.
Ultima 1 is incredibly easy to pick up and play. Though graphically very simple, the game plays like a fun mix of Zelda 1 and Phantasy Star 1 (pretty sure it directly influenced Zelda 1, but I dunno)
All the Ultima games are great actually.
What does /vr/ recommend for some good controllers ideal for controlling old games via emulation?
Pic is of one that should be fairly obvious to anyone on /vr/
>>3770315
Official controllers or the best console-lifetime knockoffs with USB adapters.
I play with a Pokken controller. It has enough buttons for SNES/Genesis games, and Hori makes a good controller.
>>3770315
I use a DS3. Sue me.
Thoughts on the DBZ games for SNES?
>>3768303
Not as good as Budokai 3.
There are many DBZ games for SNES.
Super Saiya Densetsu is a pretty good remake of the first 2 Famicom RPGs.
Super Butoden was decent, it introduced the main Butoden mechanics but it's clunky, and doesn't actually have a story mode (despite "Butoden" meaning "battle story")
With Super Butoden 2 they nailed it, gameplay got much better and it actually included a story mode as well.
Super Butoden 3 was pretty much like SB2 in gameplay, but they didn't bother to include a story mode in this one. Overall, I prefer SB2 to this one.
Super Gokuu-den 1 and 2 are pretty weird interactive story/RPG games. I liked them, but they're not for everybody, the best thing about them is the alternate scenarios you could get, the fan translations are really bad though.
They all have consistently great music.

Please don't compare with non-/vr/ games.
How come the early DBZ games were so bad (compared to Street Fighter) yet so enjoyable?

Yeah but they try to guilt you so fucking hard into choosing her. I refused to be manipulated and darted right for the blue-haired waifu instead.

Nera? Even her sister Debora was better.
I am looking to travel some time next year, and will probably be living away from home for a few months. Practically speaking I can probably only take one game console with me. The Wii is a rather small console making it acceptable for transport.
I already have a sizable amount of games through the Virtual Console saved onto my Wii.
However, I heard that while you can easily install homebrew on your Wii, is it easy to play emulated games on it?
What consoles can the Wii emulate?
Do I risk ruinning my Wii my running emulators? How easy is it play emulators and ROMs on it?
Most consoles from early atari to SNES/Sega CD/etc. play very well. GBA as well, albeit slow with certain games. PSX and N64 emulation ranges from fantastic to piss poor. You will find countless ways to crash your Wii while playing games, but it wont kill it by any means. You'll mostly just get a code dump and reboot. There are some pretty cool homebrew games/apps on there too. Running GameCube images is also possible if you set it up right and have the SD card. I recommend buying a GameCube controller to play with regardless, since snes/genesis/n64/psx are a bitch to play with the wiimote. Authentic if possible, the cheap ones feel terrible. Just be sure to read all the instructions on how to safeguard/backup your console before you modify it; most homebrew installation instructions found on the web don't mention that bit.
A Wii was one of the best investments we've ever made in our household.

I'd recommend using a classic controller, it's really easy to install apps just copy them to the app folder on the sd card.
The wii will emulate n64/ps1 but it really depends on what games. You don't really risk anything unless you install random wads.
Is it a powerhouse? No. It IS quite flexible, easily going from 480i to 480p and 4:3 to 16:9. You'll want one with Gamecube controller ports and there are a lot of options for controllers that use those ports. Wiis are also compact and fairly easy to mod. As far as their power, PCs destroy them of course as do most modern Androids which are even more compact but Wiis like PSPs are cheap, plentiful, built with gaming in mind from the start and fully cracked so they are going to be popular. If money is no object and you never will want to use an SDTV, built a micro ATX PC for this purpose - or just your existing laptop.
>you will never EVER get to experience beta versions of Super Mario 64
Honestly soul-crushing, lads. It looks so mysterious.
i actually like how the HUD looks more than in the final game.
Who cares? It's just beta shit.

I care.
What is the South of Heaven of retro games?
>>3761759
Doom. /thread
>>3761770
Doom is the general metal of retro games and has covers of SOH (among other Slayer song covers from different albums, and many other bands) but I don't know if it's specifically THE SOH of retro games :S

I've only played the first one. I've watched my friend play 8 and it looked kinda cool and I'm starting 2 pretty soon. What am I in for?

Unreal Tournament > Unreal
Prove me wrong
First shooter I ever played back when I was a kid. Still in my top 10
UT2004 and UT3 are also really great. I haven't gotten much into Unreal and Unreal 2 but I plan to sometime.
An overall stellar game series and I've recently been playing the fuck out of the pre alpha Unreal Tournament that is out FOR FREE.
>>3641192
Hard to compare the two. One was a superb singleplayer game with a tacked on multiplayer component. The other was one of the greatest competitive shooters of all time. They really feel like two halves of a whole, rather than separate things to compare against eachother.
That being said, I do go back to Unreal more often than I fire up UT. This is mostly just my preference for singleplayer games nowdays though.

Has anyone here had luck running Street Fighter on MAME? Got the ROM for the US Set 1, and it doesn't seem to be working. Is there some other file I need?

Turning dopey, MI1 Guybrush into an egotistical bigshot was genius. You really get a sense that he's a kid way too inexperienced for the kind of fame and wealth he's basically had thrust on him. I'd kinda love to see where Gilbert was going with him in his planned MI3, considering the actual MI3 just reverted him back to dopey MI1 Guybrush.
What beach? I'll try to be there to kick your ass

Fuck yes. I'm a sucker for retro merchandise, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Shamers can go fuck themselves. I already have a shirt with an nes controller that says "classically trained"
