Games with clay aesthetic.

Besides Claymates and the Clayfighter series
there's only
Amerikrog
Skullmonkeys
Rampage 64
Not a lot
>>3817309
Skullmonkeys is great, but the original The Neverhood is the best; being able to actually explore a claymation world in POV view (albeit in Myst-like rails) was awesome.
Was Rampage clay-animated? It looked like lame early CG, but it might have been because of sprite blurriness.
>>3817303
Most stop motion-animated stuff ends up looking clayish. Mortal Kombat bosses, Primal Rage and some of the monsters in Quest for Glory come to mind
Not retro, but the Celebrity Deathmatch game

One fucking job.
The cancelled SNES port looks like an even bigger mess.

They made a ton of amazing games and then just quit.

Howdy /vrdoom/, I'm having trouble coming up with a good layout for a hub area for this map. It's supposed to be right beyond the front door of the fortress, and I also want it to be good for deathmatch. Any tips?
>>3816246
Why do you waste your time?
It's time for another one of these, /vr/
Please critique, suggest games to add or swap, help me find assets I'm missing (like boxart), spot mistakes, etc.
If you hate the whole idea in general I can't do much for you other than suggest you stop the playback and move on.
My personal Saturn library is small and missing a lot of the greats, so I'm relying on your input for this one!
Guardian Legend appears twice. Why?
For reference, here's the last version of the Dreamcast chart I made.
I can only fit 35 cells into a chart small enough to fit on most screens (and many web browsers don't allow you to easily zoom on webms), so these are somewhat limited. I may do genre-specific or Japan-only etc. charts at some point, or just release the source code if necessary.
>>3815969
Just a mistake. It takes about 10 minutes to render the chart, which I'm not going to bother to do again until I have some other changes to make (like more games!).

I hate that this is the real way to pronunce SEGA, I'll keep saying Seh Gah though.
Anytime I mention jsr to people they always talk about future. Shit gets me mad
The first one on Dreamcast was the only one I played. Very comfy game with cool tunes and visuals.
Also this game is very cheap on Steam but I don't know how it performs.
>>3807729
I beat it on Steam, it ran good. I think it is missing a song though.

me on the right
Hey /vr/, I was playing some indie game and came across a certain MIDI in the game that sounded awfully familiar, but I couldn't wrap my head around it: I tried asking some friends and they couldn't identify it either. I've already tried going down the entire Mario Party 1/2 playlist and none of the songs matched up. I also checked Mole Mania and Cocoron.
The MIDI seems to be structured as if it were an NES or Gameboy chiptune, having exactly 4 channels representing 2 pulses, a bass (tri/wave), and a drum/noise channel, each channel playing one note at a time. There also seems to be some pseudo-echo in the MIDI, further suggesting it might have been a converted chiptune track.
The creator claims to have "written all the songs in the game" and, being the doubtful ass I am, was hoping you guys happened to know the actual origin of the song.
Can you guys help me identify the song?
Here's the audio: https://clyp.it/xfpku3tu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE4sZeSsCxc
Got it, thanks to a friend. Can't believe that guy would pass this track off as their own composition, but there it is in case anyone was curious.
That's from fucking Kid Dracula.
What's the game called?
>>3820361
Thanks for identifying the song. I think I'll give the guy a break and tell them to pull their game silently before I resort to publicly humiliating them.
Not sure if I should post in CRT thread.
Long story very short. Wanted to play Fire Emblem IV translation on TV. Bought one of these, connected laptop to CRT by VGA -> Box -> SVideo.
Use Snes9x emulator. Shadows flicker, things just generally look shoddy.
What might be cause? What do?
Also, the minimum the box can output is 480i. How the fuck can I output a 240i signal from my newish laptop
Use Soft15khz and SCART-to-YUV adapter
Or a softmodded Wii
Or a real SNES and an Everdrive
>>3819710
>what might be the cause?
Your stupidity. Obviously cheap gook electronics are going to be awful.
Many of the digital to analog boxes are shit. Ive had to send q back because the image was flickering and coming in black and white. I bought the Sewell Direct SW-23000 PC to TV Converter because it doesnt fit the form factor of all the others so to me it might actually be an original product and not some cheap stolen chinese design. Still works after 2 years

Good thread
just do "the trick"
>be me
>high school
>never owned a Nintendo console before
>always make fun of nintendo kids and their "kiddy games"
>eventually, one of them (who was admittedly more alpha than me, and who was an idort) challenged me to beat SMB1 in front of everyone
>everyone in the class (girls included) started chanting "do it, do it, do it"
>get nervous
>accept
>the challenge was that very day at 4PM at his house, everyone was invited to watch
>he'd set up his NES with Mario on his living room
>get home at 2PM, barely had time to change clothes and quickly download an emulator to practice a bit
>levels 1 and 2, piece of cake
>level 3, I start dying constantly
>fuck
>no more time to practice, gotta go to my school mate's house, everyone will be there
>get there
>nobody is there
>relax a bit
>my school mate receives me with a coke and potato chips
>we chat a bit and I try to persuade him that I don't really hate Nintendo or mario, it's just that I don't really know about it all that much
>"Yeah but you always talk shit about it"
>I tell him it's all joking and tongue-in-cheek
>"Well, whatever, today we'll have some fun"
>other kids start arriving, including girls (including my crush, fuck)
>The challenge starts, everyone is chanting, cheering for me, and also singing along the Mario level 1 theme
>Die on level 2, something that didn't happen on my emulation practice, I notice I'm getting nervous
>can't make it through 3rd level at all
>everyone starts laughing and telling me that I suck
>I just laugh it off and pretend that I don't care
>eventually the host starts playing the game
>he doesn't lose a single life
>he gets to last level and I see these fucking hammer turtle enemy
>There's no fucking way on earth I could have come beaten that shit
>everyone just watch and don't really comment on it being difficult or anything, as if they knew the game by heart, even the girls
>my crush ends up being the girlfriend of the host a few days after
fucking hated hs

Weird question but are there any dungeon crawler-style games that don't take place IN a dungeon? Rather a forest, underwater, in space, a variety of landscapes, etc.
Pic not really related

Shin Megami Tensi.
Look them up and have fun.

Cosmic Soldier
Might and Magic 1 is practically one big overland dungeon dotted with smaller dungeons.
Wizardry 6 goes through a variety of environments. However the EGA version uses the same castle walls for everything so you'll have to play the console ports to see a difference.
Are there any 1st gen consoles worth owning or is it litterally just variations on pong?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_generation_of_video_game_consoles
It's all pong. They're really fun though, I used to have a Coleco Telstar I found for $5 at the Goodwill and got some good times out of. You should just jump into the 2600 though, it's cheap, extremely fun, and it also has pong.
>>3817276
Oh I allready have a 2600, and the paddles for it. I was just thinking the 1st gen is the only one I don't have anything from, the collector in me would like to fix that but there just doesn't seem to be anything worth getting.
>>3817297
Yeah, you can play better (and even the same) versions of Pong with Video Olympics on the 2600. It's literally like every Pong machine rolled into one cart; and the other standalone devices were simple racing games or breakout, which can also be played on the 2600.
What's your opinion on this /vr/?
A bland, unfinished game which is only remembered at all today because "muh RPGs"
Super ambitious characters written by someone who understands Enneagram.
Unfocused story but hey it's an rpg they have to fill some space. Still had some great set-pieces despite still using character sprites
Mech combat is pretty bad.
Cool concept overall and a lesson to everyone about how much the video game industry isn't conclusive to novel story telling
>>3815441
If it wasn't for the fact that the story was the video game equivalent of evangelion, including not having enough budget to finish it, then no one would remember it
