Let's post some neat retro animated tidbits.
Bonus internets for
a) looping (ish)
b) OC (ish)
c) crisp, non-compressed presentation (so webm's, while not out, are somewhat discouraged)
d) not the same old ecchi PC-98 huge dump from every other week
>>3821604
Also, discuss: what software do people use to capture non-compressed frames? I can manage console stuff with specific emulators, but I have no idea how to do that with DOSBox and suchlike
>>3821604
>not the same old ecchi PC-98 huge dump from every other week
but i like the ecchi PC-98 huge dump
where can i find it?
>Where'd Spider-Wus go? Spider-Wuuuuuuuuuuus, come out and plllllllllllllay!

SHUT, UP, BROCK
>>3821270
I for one really enjoyed Spiderman the Animated series. What is this gameplay still from?
>>3821270KID MOOODE
Post ur current setup, heres mine
>>3821106
Come on i wanna get jelly at ur setups :(
Goddamnit I'm at work and don't get wifi at home (and who the hell needs it when you've got the PS1 and a SFamicom, right?). I'll post pictures later if this threads still up.
Question for OP, do you not get worried about the sunlight yellowing your consoles?
Whats the optimal number of battalions you should have? I have 10 right now. But after every mission all the money I get seems to have to be spent on training, lest they fall too far behind in levels.
Also is Liedel worth it (instead of low CF characters like Biske and Carth)? I'm trying to do a "good" run this time as I've received the "bad" ending already. I'm not sure who else you get on this route.
>>3821021
All of the units who don't join as a final promote unit wind up being trash unless you change their class and thereby destroy their uniqueness. That means Troi, Katreda, Asnabel, Liedel, Sheen and Vad (who is effectively a ninja who can't change classes) are trash.
>Troi is trash
Nigga what? Troi is amazingly strong. Especially early game.
>>3822468
Early game, sure. Then he falls off the map because cataphracts are straight upgrades of phalanx units.
What's your thought on Xenogears, /vr/?
>>3820941
I'm playing through it, and I really like the story. I just finished the cave part, and I really don't like Bart
>>3820941
From what I played before my ps3 hard drive crashed, it was pretty good. A bit slow, but that's fine by me. If I had one real complaint, it's the fact that you aren't given a mini-map in a town that is in full 3D and everything looks the same. The camera is a bit too zoomed into the player, and you can get disoriented pretty easily if you rotate the camera around before getting your bearings. Otherwise, pretty solid. I'll jump back in someday when I gather the patience.
Pretty good for the most part, although Disc 2 shits on everything. After a certain point, you feel like the story is going nowhere, then they start to rush it towards the ending.
I didn't really like most of the Gear designs (except Seibzehn), but they have a very good "feel" to them.
This is still one of my favorite games ever. 2 was even better, but this stands the test of time.
It is known. When I first played this there was nothing else like it. To this day nothing comes close in terms of atmosphere except perhaps Fatal Frame.
If you're like me and you play shit like pic related at 4am with the lights out and you want something similar but older, I'd recommend Clock Tower on SNES. The cartridge is expensive so emulate if you can. Peace.

You are a special little snowflake.
What are some good /vr/-era first person dungeon crawl games besides the obvious (Wizardry series, Ultima Underworld I/II)?
>>3820824
System Shock 2. The first game doesn't age well, but there's a remake in the works.
>>3820824
Might and Magic series
>>3820973
The first game is the one that is actually like a dungeon crawl game (and its much better).
What are the best consoles of all time?
1. NES
2. Dreamcast
3. PlayStation
4. Genesis
5. Atari VCS
>>3820771
>2. Dreamcast
>>3820776
This is not my opinion. I'm going off of objective ranking, of which there are many. DC is consistently in the top 5. Usually first or second.
>>3820782
well, realistically speaking the saturn is better than the dreamcast by a large margin.
>go to wikipedia
>see this
who the hell is this guy? First I've heard of him.
>>3820239
Don' you know A.K?
$10 says there's some sperglord, know-it-all retro teenie who constantly monitors the MM Wikipedia page, just waiting to pounce on anyone who would edit the page to reference Inafune. That is if he's not too busy educating some Internet user about the nature of the "real" PSX and how literally no regular person back in the 90s used the term PSX to refer to the original PlayStation.
WHAT A SHITLOAD OF FUCK
WHAT WERE THEY TINKIN'
>>3820198
For minute there, I thought that was a book collection of first 20 or so Nintendo Power issues. Thanks for dashing my hopes.
>>3820198
What is this? A guide to the NES Classic?
>Sonic was never good
>>3820167
but that's true anon...
>>3820167
Do we really need a thread for this?
Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he must ask himself:
"Was Sonic *actually* good?*.
Look into your heart; there you shall find your answer.
>Not so fast, Mike
>Turn on your TV....
OOH! WA OOH! WA-OOH! WAA-AH!

Those punks deserved every drop-kick.
Can anyone recommend cRPGs with D&D rules to someone who's never played D&D? I know of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.
>>3819729
That plus Icewind Dale. Where Baldur's Gate is more story focused, Icewind Dale puts a lot more emphasis on combat.
I've heard good things about Knights of the Chalice, that it's one of the best adaptions of the 3rd edition rules but I've not played it myself.
Planescape: Torment of course
Also tons of gold box games
Be aware that these games use first and second edition rulesets so they're not necessarily going to get you ready to play in a modern campaign.
Play all dem Goldbox games.
Which romhacks do you consider essential? I am not talking about fanmade levels or conversions but romhacks that right wrongs, like the NTSC-patch for Terranigma.
Literally zero romhacks are "essential."
The block fix for Mario All-Stars.
Theres some that "fix" castlevania 2 that I hear are essential but I found multiple and was too lazy to figure out which was best.
>>3819617
By that you mean, if the want to play Terranigma we should learn Japanese or live with pal-slowdown?
More like... majora's fetch quest. All you do is run around and do arbitrary side missions that are tedious, because of the time mechanics. The game has 4 dungeons and the rest is just padding that woudln't even take long without the 3 day cycle. garbage.
People only say they like this the best of the Zeldas to be contrarian or "durr muh atmosphere."
>>3819552Here's your (You)
It's objectively the least Zelda-like of the Zelda games bar Zelda II, but that doesn't make it a bad game.
To use that old awful expression, "It's a good game, but it's a bad Zelda game."
That said. It's my favorite 3D Zelda, but this is coming from someone whose favorite 2D Zelda isMinish Cap, so take it with a grain of salt.
The sidequests were the point of the game. It was all about getting involved in the lives of all these people who are going to die in 3 days.
It was clearly 2DEEP4U
