The great debate
according to the rules of this forum, only one of these games is /vr/

> Literally needing to grind your elemental levels for days nonstop
> Even using the morning star + Cyclops trick it takes ages to level up all of your spirits
Please recommend me some shmups with unlimited continues. I like to play this genre but it's just too much at this point, I can't sit down anymore and practice a single shmup for a week just so I can beat it. Not when there are so many good games out there.
>>3822467
Why not just pick the ones you like and give them unlimited continues?
>>3822467
I really hate to sound like an elitist cunt but most of the appeal to shmups is gone if you're going to just continue until the very end.
X-multiply.
Stage 6 will make you rage hard regardless of unlimited continues though.
This was a great game.
Yes. Best Metroidvania ever made.
I would really prefer if you'd discuss the sequel.
>>3820891
Why's that?
what's the best SD card solution for the Dreamcast? i've seen a bunch of stuff on taobao and aliexpress but i'm not sure what to get.
I got my adapter from here:
http://dc-sd.com/
I don't know anything about other adapters, but the one I got there works fine. It even has a nice plastic casing so it's not just the board like in OPs picture.
Together with DreamSHELL it works pretty good. Some games have some stutter during the cutscenes, but most of the games are fully playable.
>>3819406
What causes the stuttering? Do you think it's the SD card's speed?
I have a gd-emu and love it to pieces.
The only negative is that the sound is a bit fucked up in most games and has an effect as if the bass has been turned way up. Also, Code Veronica is impossible to beat because of a glitch that occurs in gd-emu and dreamcast emulators. Which I found out after playing for 9 or so hours.
I need to fight god inside a lava lamp
Any genre is fine. Sprite based 2d preferred but not mandatory.

Bit of a specific question but does anyone know where I can get cheap games in Toronto? I mean flea markets and such.
have a sign that says "will suck dick for retro games"

if you dont mind paying exorbitant prices, i know the personal phone numbers of 3 or 4 nintentoddlers, they actually legit control the market for rare and expensive snes and NES games and other rare shit.
or just a heads up, avoid these fuckers like the plague.
>>3816841
Sauga here, I'd say your best bet would be to get outside toronto/gta for okay prices.Toyratt out in milton's not bad, still expensive on bigger name games, but better than toronto prices overall. Avoid places like A&C, Gamehoard, and VGPlus like the plague
Posting interesting pics from old point and click adventure games with some trivia
In Leisure Suit Larry Love For Sail you can get some extra nudity by using the right verbs in certain situations.
Also in LSL7 you can get an alternative "dirty" ending if you collect all points in the game.
Sam and Max in Curse of Monkey
what are your favorite dos games?
Dune 2
Duke Nukem 2.
Doom II
So what does /vr/ think about this game? I notice the opinion on this game is pretty divided.
I've been playing it, is there any interesting locations to go to, /vr/?

Great game. Glitchy and broken but it's Bethesda so that goes without saying. If you haven't already made it to Daggerfall, I'd recommend hanging around Gothway Gardens for a while. It's immediately south of the Privateer's Hold (within a couple minutes' walking distance actually) and has some good shops - both high-end ones to buy really good things and an extremely low-end one to buy cheaply and sell things for high prices - plus both a Fighters' Guild and a Mages' Guild.
Also, when you get the letter from Brisienna, you should take it seriously and try to get there in a reasonably timely fashion. If you're already in a quest when you get it you should finish the quest first, but just make sure you meet with Brisienna within a month or so of getting the letter.
She's not messing around when she says it's urgent. She will leave if you take too long, and then you'll be locked out of the main quest. And the main quest is actually really good. The game has a pretty good story; fairly complex, very grey-vs-grey, interesting characters and lore, it starts off as gritty Fantasy medieval political intrigue - sort of like Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones almost - but then it starts to get weird and Kirkbridian toward the end, and it has many ways to go about completing it. You can align yourself with any of the major players in Iliac politics or the people involved in the business you were sent there for (the matters concerning Lysandus, his death, and the letter).
The game has several different endings, too; one for each of the factions, and one for yourself. That sounds awkward and poorly phrased, but it's about the most spoiler-free way I can put it.

How does the dialog system work for the main quest? I notice that every character has the same amount of dialog options and is essentially a walking dictionary, and new topics only come up when I'm in a quest.
Do I have to be at level 5 to start the main quests for the various regional powers? I notice it takes longer to level than the other games, I'm at level 2 on a new character. My first character was a battlemage and he was stuck at level 1 even though I played on him for like 10 hours.
Also, what's the point of all the 44 provinces? Do they each have their own lore and background? If so, where can I read it?

>How does the dialog system work for the main quest? I notice that every character has the same amount of dialog options and is essentially a walking dictionary, and new topics only come up when I'm in a quest.
Generally speaking, when you talk to important characters you just get a message window, one of those yellow scrolls that pop up on-screen, occasionally with multiple options to choose (though not always).
IIRC though, some important characters do have the standard dialogue window, but with fewer things you can ask them about.
>Do I have to be at level 5 to start the main quests for the various regional powers?
There is a level requirement, yeah. I can't remember what it is though. Might be as low as 3 or 4.
>I notice it takes longer to level than the other games, I'm at level 2 on a new character. My first character was a battlemage and he was stuck at level 1 even though I played on him for like 10 hours.
It depends on the difficulty slider. Depending on your class's Advantages, Disadvantages, and Max HP/level, plus what you set the Reflex to (the faster you set it to, the faster you level up). Also, keep in mind that you have to rest or fast-travel to level up, and that the skills that determine it are your class skills - your Primary, Major, and Minor skills.
If you're a mage, I'd recommend joining the Mages' Guild and making some training spells, and practice magic skills by repeatedly readying and then cancelling the spells. Here's what you should make:
Training 1
>Light, Free Action, Water Walking, Slowfalling
>Set range to "Touch"
>Set Duration, Chance, and Magnitude to 1+1 per 2 levels
Training 2
>Damage Health, Silence
>Set range to "Touch"
>Set Duration, Chance, and Magnitude to 1+1 per 2 levels
It's not necessary, especially if you set reflexes to Fast/Very Fast, but it is helpful. That said, the most important thing for success is good equipment (or spells if you're a mage). You can use your time underleveled to get resources.

Does Minstrel Song run perfectly on PCSX2?
And is there anything I should know (e.g. general pointers, specific things to avoid) before I start playing?
Guess I'll do RS2 next after I play through Tactics Ogre. I played around a little with the android version and the controls are atrocious. Are they more tolerable if you play with a mouse on an emulator?

I don't think the english vita release has officially been cancelled so if you're naively optimistic you may want to wait for it.
Which game would you recommend out of these 4 :
Xenogears
Suikoden 2
Grandia
Wild Arms
digimon world
Grandia has meet gameplay but a weak story. Xenogears is really cool at first but is obviously rushed near the end. Suikoden 2 is a really good game overall. I never played Wild Arms.
Overall I'd say Suikoden 2
SaGa Frontier is better than all 4, if you've never played that
Do we know anything about the satellaview? Why did a ambient new age satellite radio company make Nintendo games?
DUDE SATELLITES LMAO
Let's see what aunt Wiki has to say:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St.GIGA
"By 1994, St.GIGA's financial difficulties resulted in the cutting back of "Tide of Sound" broadcasts. Their portion of the subscription-funded audio broadcasts were to be replaced under subcontract by an all new series of advertising-funded Satellite Data broadcasts, managed under the "rescue" and executive control of Nintendo, St.GIGA's largest shareholder at 19.5%."
About the broadcasts:
>The broadcast content ranged from video-game-related Satellaview news and specific interest journals such as Game Tiger's big House (ゲーム虎の大穴 Gemu Tora no OoAna?) to expansion data for popular Super Famicom games (including, for example, Chrono Trigger) and all new video game releases including titles in such flagship series as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Kirby. Additionally, a number of these broadcasts featured an updated version of St.GIGA's earlier "Tide of Sounds" "Voice," now called "SoundLink" (サウンドリンク?), with which St.GIGA voice actors would provide a live vocal track to accompany games, setting plot and describing in-game goals.
