Is there anyway to make retroarch look and operate like pic related
>>4027367
I wish.
No wait I already have a Mac, fuck retroarch. kek
>>4027367
Why?
>>4027367
What program is that?
I just loved this game, so charmingi almost choked when Lucia went back to Blue Star leaving poor Hiro alone though, but then came the epilogue, lovable characters and NPCs, and one of the hardest final bosses I've fighted.
That's all, also Lunar thread (just don't spoil me more about Lunar 1 i played Lunar Legends on the GBA ten years ago and now i want to play the SSC on the emulator)
>>4026641
Fair warning: be prepared for people to jump in this thread and shit on Ireland, Working Designs, and the merits of direct translation vs cultural translation. Some people just have to make sure their hate is known to everyone.
On topic, you kind of spoiled yourself anyway. Playing these two games in order makes you appreciate a certain scene in EB a little more. Still, enjoy the first game, though there will be some limitations you might not enjoy, depending on which version you'll be playing.
>>4026641
I want to play Lunar 1, is it worth to emulate the GBA version? From what i can see, the psx is the most complete one, buti can emulate gba on my ipad
>>4026687
>GBA version?
No, it's a very abridged, very easy and dumbed down version that's missing most of the scenes from the original.
I want to live in the time-line where we get a sequel
how do I get there?
do I get banned from that universe for hacking if I try?
I don't know, nigger, did you play the mega cd and game gear versions?
>>4026359
>made by nu-sega
I haven't played and I already know it's shit.
>>4026359
I played this one, the CD one and the game gear one, and can say this one is fairly different
is an step up in every aspect except the game-play.
when before you had a board often was pretty easy to predict things, the saturn one you had to guess a lot. It was never frustrating (except in the train section one, you fucking know which one)
is still good, you may like it even more, but I didnt cause it was 2diferent4me and ended up liking it just fine.
it may seem like the predicting part seems like a pretty insignificant detail but it does make it feel different.
play it anyway.
Im ready for my Saturn Sotn Playtrough!
Lets talk about SotN. Its such a great game, i discover something new everytime i play it
Hooray! Expect severe lag, bad loading times and completely unnecessary extras.
Maria is oh so broken. She's got a quarter-circle-motion spell that quickly drains through most bosses health. She's got a myriad of kung fu moves that you don't even need to use that is equally as broken.
Eerr how do you bring out the map in this one?
Will Compile Heart ever release a western retro Madou Monogatari pack?
I tried to play Madou Monogatari I (the one with the tower), but since I don't know Japanese I don't think I can beat it without using a guide and I won't be able to appreciate the story/characters as much.
Super Kindergarten Kids (the fantranslated SNES game) pretty much remakes and improves on the first game. Other than that, yeah, no, it's not fucking happening, Compile Heart is a horrible company and they don't even own the rights to the characters anymore, that now belongs to Sega which is more interested in milking out the Puyo Puyo puzzle franchisae.
Sega owns the rights. They released Puyo Puyo internationally for the 3DS and could do the same with the other games.
Gotta talk it over with Sega.
Hey, maybe they'll listen. They cooperated with fans to make Sonic mania and ARE interested in making puyo more global.
This is my first roguelike game and I'm kind of liking it. Shit's pretty cute and addicting although it's a pain to die and restart from the first floor of the dungeon.
What do you guys think of it? How does it fare with other roguelike?
I don't know why, but for some reason, I think this thread is gonna be full of shitposts
>>4022876
I heard the game being described as such but am actually not sure what it means beyond a specific type of dungeon crawling.
is this game a meme? A lot of people seems to enjoy it.
>>4022502
Paladins Quest.
Oh I remember trying this game casually in a emulator many years ago, I used to test many random games, I remember beating the first boss inside a big tower(?) with some kind of fairy as party member.
I never really played it seriously, I see there's a sequel too, are both worth?
>>4022502
I played it when I was a kid and started it twice on emulator. All times I was taken in by the graphics. It certainly is a meme b/c it's mediocre AF.
I liked it back in the day when I was a kid because it had some interesting concepts that I thought were pretty awesome for an RPG like the lack of MP (spells take HP to cast, which creates a quandary), hired party members/mercenaries (you really wanna try that cave on your own? okay then, don't whine to me when you die) and the fact that spells gain levels individually rather than having a catch-all mstrength stat (it's explained as your relationship with a particular spirit in charge of that sort of magic, like the fire spirit or something, gets stronger with each time you use that sort of spell).
Ultimately, however, the new car smell wears off quick. I lost interest somewhere midway and never completed the game. A noble effort on the creators' part, but PQ falls flat for me.
...but I can also appreciate the idea of playing on real hardware, and have several consoles.
Can you please offer any advice?
(ps, I'm poor and have a SEGA and every sony systems)
Thank you in advance!
I have been emulating for years, but we all know that's lame
Everdrive. Problem solved.
Is that easier that psp emulation?
I have set up a gba flashcart before, but I am also very stupid.
What's the best version of this game.
>>4021101
the Sega Saturn one.
>>4021101
Not the SNES version. I'm going with the PC version as the best. If you get the special edition, it comes with the Urban Renewal Kit which lets you customizes all kinds of stuff.
>>4021101
PC version of course.
Then get Sim Copter so you can fly around your cities.
Deals and steals.
Post overpriced trash near you.
>>4021090
Deal and steal are both used in reference to items priced way below their market value.
>>4021090
>still has the feet on it
That's gotta be worth $1k of anyone's money
>>4021090
My local reselling Jew has common toploaders priced at 150$ and no one even questions that shit
I am in a high income area tho i guess
>here's your sega cd setup bro
>>4021070
Ha!, Nice reference. I get the misuse of greentext and the /v/ meme.
>>4021070
who are you quoting
>he fell for the pvm meme
ITT we post and discuss /vr/ games where you get to explore a human house, yard, etc. as a small creature or object. There is something neat about turning normal everyday places into vast worlds to explore and mountain ranges to overcome. Any recommendations?
Is there a consensus about which of the games is better, the first or the second?
Sim Ant, but that game is so easy that you can do nothing and still win.
>>4020119
Level 2 of Super Bonk IIRC
What is the furthest that 3D graphics can go while still being considered retro? Are there certain thresholds and methods that must be obeyed? E.g., polygon limit, max texture sizes, gouraud shading, simple texture filtering.
>>4019347
Anything up to and including Unreal Tournament (original) and Quake III Arena could be considered retro. It's not so much the tech as the year, since PC gaming doesn't have the leaps in hardware that console generations have (the evolution of PC gaming is all gradual).
>>4019347
When it comes to windows games using DirectX. Games using up to DX6 are retro as DX7 was released in 2000.
>>4019347
I assume you mean on PC? The 99 cutoff works fine and only excludes a handful of games that are normally not talked about much anyway but have their own threads from time to time.
Having a hardware capability cutoff makes no sense. It should be by software. Win98 is the cutoff in my opinion. Games pretty much stopped by 02 to really support win98. Also anything newer than win98 will run on a new machine without issue. I know for a fact since I was playing BF2 on my modern PC with a 6700k and 1080 without issue other than servers.
The late 90s had many standards come and go along with old standards dying out. Past win98 you don't really run into ISA slot sound cards or anything ISA really. As for other standards you have neat things like glide and a3d stuff that many games used. You're still pretty much forced to use that era of hardware to play those games. Emulation is non existent.
>'I wasn't waiting to kill people. I was waiting for someone to kill me.'
>'I never believed in the boss' desire for world conquest. I just wanted to kill as many poeple as I could!'
If you were a boss in MGS1 what would your story/closing words be?
>fug :DDD
>>4005615
isn't the second quote from mantis?
anyway my closing words would be "AH SHITSHITSHIT FUCK FUCK, IT HURTS AAAHHHHH"
>>4005642
Yeah it was, forgot to mention it.
This is a thread for those who are exploring retro games, that is, the people who weren't there at the time but want to play the classic games. How are your discoveries going on? In my case, i'm interested in jrpgs (Right now playing Treasure Hunter G). I want to jump into the psx, but there are so many games to play.
>>3998789
I think I'm in the same boat. The only experience I've had with sega before about three months ago was us having a master system when I was very little. Parents made me sell that and ever since Segas were just these weird black machines I'd see maybe once every 8 years or so
couple months ago I got me a sega mega drive(did my research to make sure I got a good one) and with youtube gameplay footage and very small tastes thru emulation I've picked games to buy and play
so far I'm very happy with what I've discovered
kinda wish I'd kept the master system
>>3998789
My first system was aGameCubewhen I was 4 or 5. I was a kid with no money so I mainly stuck to getting games my friends were playing like Madden and Zelda and stuff. I got my older brothers N64 in like 2003 when he saw me getting really into it. It kinda sparked my interest and made me research this stuff. I got myself an NES and a PS1 at a flea market a year or two later with my mom. I'm still looking for those "hidden gems" I didn't get to experience. I'm really glad I found /vr/ to show me of these.
Thank you, dudes.
>>3998789
Catalina master race!
I've always been a Nintendo kid for most of my life (first system was a SNES, last a N3DS), and only decided to give the PS1 a try a couple years back.
I'm big into JRPGs, and, to be honest, I still have to play a single bad one in this damn console.
Grandia, Final Fantasy IX, Vagrant Story, Suikoden II, Breath of Fire IV, Tales of Eternia, Wild Arms, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, it's been amazing so far and I still have so many to try.
