Im looking to buy a old crt,

>>4033693
BNC
>>4033693
Rf only
>>4033693
component and s-video.
buy high end brands - sony, toshiba, panasonic
Why didn't Plok ever catch on? It certainly had the charm.
Maybe it got Battleborned? I can't remember if some really good shit came out in september 93
>>4033417
>Battleborned
Can't you just said it got overshadowed?
>>4033393
it got hoodwinked
How you like your input lag senpai
You can't even notice it..
>>4033134
desu i have a mini projector and its the only time ive had an issue with it. Everything else is fine from what ive played.
This is the most modern "retro" game I've ever played.

Bring me something more in line with the current trends, I'll wait.
it's basically a retro cowadoody, so yeah
>>4032906
>cinematic
No shit, it was made by Steven Spielberg
That's as close as the Playstation had ever gotten to something like Goldeneye 007. Still not as good though.
I tried playing Dune in DOSBox but there was no sound. What's the best way to play it?
in DOSBox with sound
Emulate it on Amiga.
>>4032973
Not worth it, for emulation the DOS version is better, on actual hardware I'd prefer the Amiga version too
It's Zangief's 61st birthday today. What's your present?
>>4032610
a copy of tetris signed by the great leader of the soviet union.
>Guile is 56 years old
gief screwed gief
A link to the Past SNES vs GBA thread
SNES has a better resolution, better sound, better color saturation, doesn't have the voices, and has more buttons.
SNES is better.
>>4032486
I could not tolerate any SNES ports to GBA because the colors were always washed out with the music being inferior.
This puts Doom 64 to shame since it has the classic maps redone in a darker, more horror atmosphere (it also places Doom 2 enemies in Doom 1 maps on UV, which is pretty cool). It also gets rid of the largley reviled Doom 2 city maps (thank god for hardware limitations in this case). The exclusive maps are pretty sweet, too. Only flaw is the lack of Archvile.
This vs. Final Doom, who wins?
>>4032494
If you mean the PSX Final? This one easily. Final doesn't even have the Spider Mastermind, still no Archvile, and only 30 maps compared to the 50+ in this.
>>4032464
>since it has the classic maps redone in a darker, more horror atmosphere
And it doesn't fit those maps at all.
There's too much negativity on this board, especially "what went wrong?" threads. Let's have a positive thread for once /vr/.
What do you think about Attack of the Mutant? I know it's a kids game but it's hilarious in the way the characters act and the cutscenes themselves. The only games that I can think of that are similar to this are Normality and Bad Day on the Midday. Can we talk about these games? I found the last one to be especially horrific.
>>4032169
>especially "what went wrong?"
Those threads are just shitposts and they're only spammed because they get attention from people and thanks to you making a thread with the opening post mentioning them in a bad way we're going to get more.
>>4032169
I remember bad day at the midway, pretty interesting game. The art direction is pretty bizarre and the game is pretty unnerving honestly. The concept of switching between each character's perspective was cool.
>>4032169
I had Attack of the Mutant as a kid and loved it, not sure how you can compare it to Bad Day on the Midway, which I briefly played as an adult and yes found horrific. Normality is good, you say? Maybe I will try.
How many people have beaten every Super Nintendo game 100%?
Zero.
They'll never beat the game I made and never released.
Now get out.
(I actually made a game when I was learning to program for the 65816).
>>4032159
Doesn't count without the seal.
>>4032163
I... I guess.
You only need MAME now.
>>4032016
i prefer to play without crippling lag and with at least an attempt at accuracy
>>4032016
I agree with deleting all emulators.
Buy the actual fucking hardware instead.
I told you so edition.
New Star Wars table leaked, possibly by mistake. It is as I said. Observations:
• Sega-era art style
• Original trilogy as predicted
• Massive Millenium Falcon-inspired flow in the classic U shape
• Death Star locks balls and explodes
• Modes/shots based on planets / Death Star
• The Force drop targets / standups
• Fan layout, sort of a No Fear Steve Ritchie style
• Dwight Sullivan on software
• Pro table is crap as always for a Ritchie table, since he designs the Premium/LE first then strips features
>>4031961
Here are the cabinets. As always, Premium is the ice-cold "cool" machine to own.
LCD screen as anticipated. FIRE button on the lockdown bar for additional strategy and gameplay features. Plunger, not launch button.
Everyone who said Game of Thrones was worst game ever is saying this is worst game ever for opposite reasons. Consistent.
>>4031961
christ ugly baby compared to the data east.
Just discovering this now.
>From left to right in the hot tub are
>Diane Siegel, On-Line's production manager
>Susan Davis, On-Line's bookkeeper and the wife of Bob Davis, the creator of Ulysses and the Golden Fleece
>Rick Chipman, an actual waiter from a local restaurant, The Broken Bit
>and Roberta Williams [who would later design the King's Quest series, Shivers, and Phantasmagoria]
>>4031886
This is fucking mindblowing. Thanks for posting it.
>>4031886
I would definitely do prime Roberta Williams, but I wonder how many nonsensical puzzles I'd have to solve.
Roberta Williams a cute. Cute!
Hey /vr/gins. As we've always loved this board right from the start, and we know that 4Chan in general likes weird MMO's, we're extending a special invite to everyone here to join us in the open alpha of Habitat on Friday!
The Game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habitat_(video_game)
The info on the relaunch and how to connect (final connect info coming Friday): http://neohabitat.org
Habitat is a C64 MMO from 1986, the first graphical MMO. It was played on QLink, the precursor to AOL. It originated the term "Avatar," had in-game currency and an economy, and despite being a largely social environment, even allows players to murder one another.
You'll be able to join Friday via emulator, or if you're hard core enough, C64. You know, provided you can sign your C64 onto the Internet.
We've spent 4 years bringing this game back so that future generations can see the absolute roots of this tremendously successful genre of games. Habitat cost something around $6 an hour to play back in 1986, due to online service pricing of the day. That's like $20 an hour in today's dollars. Very few people ever played Habitat, despite it's landmark status. We hope by making it freely playable it will finally reach a real, widespread audience.
We have a long way to go to build out the world, and as we're an open source project, you can join us. We, in particular, need someone to build a Web-client for the game, similar to what Archive.org does with it's browser-playable systems. We just ask folks to be friendly and open minded, and not negative nancys. We're all volunteers, and the original creators of the game, Chip and Randy, are the ones driving this whole project. They deserve immense respect and praise for their work over the years, and on bringing their creation back to life.
Thanks for being honest about marketing the game, I guess. I'll give it a chance on Friday.
How exactly would I set this up in VICE? Would I need a QuantumLink image?
>>4031879
This is an open source project, so I figured that was fair game for spreading the word in here.
We will be posting a more specific how to on Friday. You won't need anything special, as we're running a QLink Reloaded server ourselves. You'll need the newest version of VICE, and when we post the public image (It's up now if you speak Github) you'll be able to sign in with it.
It's a fairly simple press that requires a few settings tweaks in VICE. Biggest thing you're going to want is a Joystick, or at least, explicit bindings for a joystick in VICE with your 360 controller or whatever.
>>4031873
Were they using Tcl for object behaviour back then?
I used to work for WorldsAway.
What are you scoring and 1cc'ing in lately, /vr/??
Started playing R-type. My goal: get a 1-ALL. I'm pretty consistent at clearing the first 4 stages without a death but haven't memorized stage 5 yet.
>>4031814
I have a few shmups to play...
>Darius Twin
>Ikaruga
>Guardian Legend (kind of counts right?)
>Last Resort
I also have a Turbo Everdrive, so I can play stuff from there.
Where should I start? I've wanted to get into the genre for awhile but always get disheartened.
Bump.
>>4032431
I've heard Ikaruga is amazing so possibly go with that, or wait for someone more experienced in those games to give an informed response.
