What triggers your autism about retro games? For me it's the title of the Gradius games. It should be Gladius. I can't play those games because of it.

That's not autism. I have actual autism and you sound just plain retarded.
>>
I dunno, anon. Doesn't sound like triggering or autism to me. Sounds more like a pet-peeve.
In the not-too-distant past, we used to have separate terms for things we didn't like instead of faking a mental disability/illness just so we could throw around the no-go card and get special treatment.

Anyway, enough of me being pissy about where modern language has gone. Mine is when games have areas that have items on/in them that you can't get to. Gets me every time.

Where would i find retro wallpapers for older computers?
31 posts and 17 images submitted.
>>
they come preinstalled with windows but if you insist on using custom shit then go through usenets and the wayback machine
>>
Here's the secret to making a shitty looking wallpaper that looks like it came out of the late 90s. Might not be what you're looking for, but who knows

- Download and install Irfanview
- Open wallpaper of choice in Irfanview (preferrably 4:3 or skewed to 4:3)
- Save as jpg, set "save quality" to 20
>>
Sonic Jam for Saturn has 4 wallpapers you can use if you put the CD on your computer CD drive.

Can someone explain, without buzzwords, why you guys hate DK64? I always thought it was fantastic, on par at least with Banjo Tooie

I liked it, I think the main reason people don't like it is because of the many collectibles and how you have to backtrack with different kongs, but... I dunno, it was fine to me, no rush, just comfy.
I used to like it better than Banjo-Kazooie, now that I've finally finished BK, I may like them equally.
Also, DK64 has the only port existing of the original DK arcade game, so bonus points for that.
>>
Every Kong practically plays the same. I only played up to DK Jr and Tiny. The game feels very boring platforming wise. The jumping is awkward (per most 3d platformers) and the gameplay is just mash B when you see an enemy. No thought process. It's a barren game in terms of gameplay. I can understand the appeal of B&K because atleast the character and settings are fun.
>>
The multiple characters was a failed gimmick, game has too many cutscenes and cut-outs to try and hide how bad the actual platorming is funny enough the minigames are all complete ass unlike BT/BK, and the game is so fucking buggy they were really better off saving it as a GC project.
I'd still put it above other abominations like Gex and CBFD but it isn't super high on the 3D platformer list

Made an impulse buy today. I love Chrono, Earthbound, and Mario RPG. Sick of being out of the loop on this one.

It's my favorite of the entire series. 7 rightfully made an impression, but 6 was the one that got me. Tons of characters, great music that I remember to this day, and even though I played a ton of CRPGs, this was really the thing to get me into JRPGs.

Plus, you had those commercials on TV I'll never forget
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBG4TUPxQ0U
>>
Yes, you're gonna like it if you liked those three games. Chrono comes closest when comparing them. Has the best characters, villain and music of the 2D FF's. GO PLAY IT WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE
>>
>>4105730
I remember doing the same, bought it for $50 randomly. As I began it I really did love but slowly and slowly it kind of just falls apart to me. The game has good qualities but I want to go over what I disliked about. The cast of the game is quite large, 14 party members in total. You might be thinking "surely not everyone is useful?" and sadly you're right. At one point the character genuinely just stop even being unique really at all and it comes down to "who has the best stats?". Look at chrono trigger, you have seven party members, only half of FFVI's selection, but all are fully capable in battle. During the game's final section a big plot twist happens and you kand of just wander around with no real story progression. You can see each character have thier subplot wrapped up but it still feels off and not really satisfying.

Personally I find CT much better. Hopefully you enjoy it more though anon, I hope you have feel it was worth it personally.

Please stop with these threads. It's just going to incite another flameware between literal autists.

Let me give you a better piece of advice, OP: Don't ask questions on this board. Play every version and decide for yourself what best suits you. We can't gauge your arbitrary preferences, nor is there any objectively "best" version of anything.

I'm playing through The Silver Case remaster right now, and finding it pretty enjoyable so far. The assets are in a higher resolution, and the music got remixed, but as far as I can tell it's more or less the same experience as the PSX original.

The NES game. I realised many years later I'd accidentally become a Sunsoft fanboy with the NES, and Batman was a big part of that. The soundtrack is amazing.

It's been twenty years since it came out. Anyone else going to replay it? I've been playing since midnight here and I'm debating what I wanna do with my party this time. I kind of wish there was something like Four Job Fiesta for it. I know I would participate every year if there was.

Anyway, talk about Final Fantasy Tactics.

I haven't played long recently enough to remember a lot of them. The waterfall sticks out though.

Favorite job?

One of the best games I've ever had the fortune of playing. Twenty years since, and yet to be surpassed.

>Favorite character?

Argath. He is a master of using beautiful language to denigrate the poor.

Real answer: Delita and Ramza. The story hinged on them both being perfectly executed, and succeeded.

>Favorite battle?

Hard to pick one, I'd say the entire run up to rescuing Thunder God. Just a great series of maps that build on one another culminating in fighting your way up the sleuce.

>Favorite job?

Orator. Mimic Darlavon is hilarious, and Enlighten has one of the most amusing spell descriptions I've seen in a video game.

Any of you guys has ever got anything from Yahoo auctions? Can i pay with PayPal? would they ship to the US? any suggestions? share your stories.

Its been months since ive found a decent deal on Ebay, nowadays everyone is a reseller. Im mostly interested in TurboDuo, some Famicom and Super Famicom Japan exlusives.

Anyone here who can read moonrunes? are they for parts or working?
>>
No and no. Yahoo Japan is a very insular community and is specifically set up to make it basically impossible for people outside Japan to use. There are services that will buy for you and reship items internationally but it's pretty expensive expect to pay at least $10 extra to the service unless you plan to buy a bunch of stuff at once and the service is willing to combine shipping.

If you're fairly fluent in Japanese you can buy items yourself but you'll still need a Japanese address to ship to, preferably a friend who just has a big box sitting that he fills up with whatever comes addressed to you then mails the big box to you.
>>
You need a proxy service.

I used to buy on Yahoo like 10 years ago.

Why is it that of the many, MANY retro consoles out there, the only ones that have managed to remain popular and command ridiculous prices (given how widespread they were) are the NES, SNES, N64 and gamecube? Most of the other retro consoles, and even most of Nintendo's other shit has kept a pretty low profile, even the shit that e-celebs talk about all the time like the Virtual boy. So why are those 3 4 so popular with normalfags?
