Is there a /vr/ recommended USB controller for emulation? I want to play mainly N64 and Gamecube games with a few 16 bit systems. I'm tempted to get USB to PlayStation 2 controller ports and using PS2 controllers... Will the sticks work correctly?
Pic is my old arcade machine which got damaged in a flood :(

Yes. Do that.

There is nothing better for classic games.
Generally the recommendation that gets thrown around here for 8/16 bit is a sega saturn controller via USB converter. I don't hear much good for third party usb controllers.
What else do I listen to if I like Spyro 1-3 soundtracks?

I guess you could give Crash Bandicoot's music a try, though it is very different from Spyro's music (there's nothing quite like either of them, honestly). Crash 2's is the best. Some of the uncompressed music mixes for all 3 Crash games are avilable on Josh Mancell's Soundcloud profile.

Are there any usb N64 style controllers that aren't complete wank? I've had two cheapy ones off of eBay (~£8 each) and the analogue sticks always seem to be mapped as the D pad so pretty useless.
Any decent ones out there?

Thanks anon, didn't think they'd be so cheap. Should have some controllers in storage with my N64.

Are there good usb ones out there? Retrolinks look OK.
The main selling point of a video game for me is whether or not it has cute little girls in it.
Help me find some retro games with which to sate my depravity, /vr/.
Pic related is a good example of the sort of game I'm looking for.
I'm interested in this topic as well. The only retro examples that come to my mind are Cotton, KiKi KaiKai and perhaps retro Touhou.

CUTE!
How do they survive the flames?
As I recall, they aren't actually real flames, they just get the sensation of being burned by flames.
pretty cool sprite tbqh famm

The flame just covers them for a brief second and it's gone. It just does damage.
what is the best snes emulator and why?
zsnes cause it's old timey :D
SNES9x for toasters, BSNES (not Higan) for everyone else.
>>2780497
Objectively wrong answer, I like the look of ZSnes but that's it.
I vote Snes9x if you want to make your game look better, but Higan is better all around.
The man behind the plan opened the fucker up. It's real you guys, IT'S REAL.

Do you have a proper source that isn't a scam site?
>>2780232
Elaborate. First I've heard of this accusation.
I know many people have been complaining about all the retro hipsters moving into the hobby since 2010 or so, but luckily they've mainly targeted the SNES. As such, it's still possible to get great deals on NES and Genesis games. This thread is for pointing out damn good games that regularly sell for $10 or less.
NES:
Tetris, Dr. Mario, Yoshi, Tetris 2, Yoshi's Cookie, Solstice, Krusty's Fun House, Adventures of Lolo, all great puzzle games for less than $10.
Looking for platformers? SMB/DH, TMNT, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, Batman, Adventure Island, Blaster Master, Little Nemo, Bionic Commando, Wizards and Warriors, Faxanadu, Little Mermaid, StarTropics 1 and 2, Tiny Toon Adventures, The Guardian Legend, The Goonies 2, 8 Eyes, Kabuki Quantum Fighter, Elevator Action, all fantastic platformers, some considered the best games on the system, all less than $10.
RPGs/Strategy? Dragon Warrior, Ultima:Exodus, Legacy of the Wizard, Wizardry:Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms all sell for less than $10.
That's 33 great games on the NES that are under $10 each, and that doesn't even cover sports and arcade titles, or misc genre's like the Infocom and Sierra graphical adventures, or games like Solar Jetman.
Feel free to chip in with other great games that aren't priced to hell.
>>2780003
Stop with the price bitching! Is that all there is to this board? Holy shit
>>2780008
Nah. I can actually see why my fellow Anonibro's would bitch- try collecting anything for the N64 over the internet, for example.
That being said, some of the more autistic fuckers here cling to the real thing (when the emulation options are just as good, if not better) and then have the audacity to bitch about a bubble THEY are helping to contribute to.
Shoot me for liking the N64, but as long as you avoid the 1st and 2nd party favorites everything's very affordable. Hell, even some of the 2nd party games are cheap. Wipeout 64, F-Zero X (on a good day), Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Mischief Makers (on a good day) Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Wave Race 64, 1080 Snowboarding, and others all end up in the sub-10 range.
Similarly, PS1 games that aren't cult classics are pretty cheap. If you're willing to burn CD-Rs of games, PS1 and DC games are pennies on the dollar (though I don't do that anymore - it gives you ADD and you don't complete games).
Happy master system day!

does brazil keep making games for it? Are they all just so absolutely shitty no one bothers to talk about 'em? It seems like if there had been a 25 years game industry there there might be a few gems.
>>2779935
Haven't played much of them, but they sure can be awful. And that's not just the sound.
What are the essential tank-controls-and-prerendered-backgrounds games?

Well obviouly you know about Fear Effect and Resident Evil is a dead giveaway.
Parasite Eve 2's pretty fun. Not as good as the first but that's less tanky more RPGy

Emuparadies is a good direct-download site, though their PS1 section has some bad apples.
Some examples: Spyro: Year of the Dragon is using the Paradox crack and Driver 2 has an Emuparadise screen at the start, both are from before EP had alphabetized and expanded it's PS1 list some many years ago. Not sure if they fix them now though.
>>2779416
my rompacks are from emuparadise and internetarchive.
Can you recommend it?
My pick is Adventures of Rubble Saver 2 on the Game Boy, localised as fucking Max, who was resposible for this? Anything would've been better than Max. To the game itself, it's a decent action platformer. The outstanding feature is the grappling hook, which is sadly underused. Overall not very challenging or pretty and they reused some level sections at times, like in SML1.
I've completed Martian Gothic on the ps1 multiple times. Fuck no, I don't recommend it.
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon R on the SNES. Do yourself a favor and don't play this piece of shit. You can beat this shitty brawler for the most part just jumping and kicking with Sailor Mars, it's ridiculous.
Play something else, like Double Dragon, or even the Kamen Rider games on the same console.
>>2779032
Well, I know there are other Sailor Moon beat'em ups on the system. None of them any good? Weren't some even released in Europe? France I think?
How do you become more immersed in retro games? There are a lot of games that I really want to play and love the thought of playing, Final Fantasy, some Zelda games, etc. but I can't sit down long enough to put in any time on them.
Cannabis.

Bought this but can't get a display on my HDTV's, it gives me a "signal out of reach" message but it does work on my monitors. Is there anyway to get VGA to work on my HDTV's?

Forgot to mention that it's the VGA cable for the Dreamcast, also this is what my monitor shows:
