How does the fucked up balancing make your personal experience playing these games any worse?
It didn't.
>balance
You don't care about that shit when you're a kid.
>>2802047
I mean now. Like, if I bought this game on the 3ds, and I wasn't planning on any tournament play, would the balancing make my enjoyment of this game any worse?
Anyone know a way to open Nes carts without the specific screw bit?
hacksaw
But seriously, get the necessary screw-bit, that's how they're put together and that's how they're disassembled.
>>2808065
You'll need a 3.8mm security bit screwdriver. The cart was designed that way, no short cuts. If you don't care about condition, throw it against the wall a few times, you might have to pay to patch the wall up though. NES carts are tough.
What are some good Zapper games?
The Adventures of Bayou Billy

Thanks Anon, I'll try it after I'm done watching Boku no Pico.
Literally how the fuck are you supposed to get good at this game?
I have literally 5 scouts facing the same fucking direction, all set on auto fire, and NONE OF THEM perform a reaction shot on a fucking alien that pops out, staring right at them, all while having 60+ reactions.
what a load of fucking horseshit. please tell me this game gets better.
It dont
0. openxcom
1. break line-of-sight and get behind a wall if you can, or drop a primed smoke grenade
2. aimed shots should be used, no auto shots unless you're at or above 100 firing accuracy
3. if you find your first mission with cyberdiscs just abort the mission with all soldiers inside
protip about reactions:
1. Autoshot isn't used, SNAPSHOT is.
2. Current TU divided by Maximum TU, and that number is then multiplied by (reactions / 100). That's your actual chance to reaction fire.
67/80 TU = 0.83
70 reactions / 100 = 0.7
0.83*0.7 = 0.58% to reaction fire... assuming reaction fire costs equal to or less than 67 TU.
>>2806647
> 0.58%
that is, rather, 58% chance to reaction fire.
>Tfw 8 years old
>Tfw you thought was better than. Turok
>3264x2448
>blurry, unrotated, uncropped
hey grandma
>Walking up a snowy hill, fog everywhere
>Hear a faint gobble noise
>Turn around to find myself swarmed with turkeys.
I invested more time into this game as a child than I expected to.
OP doesn't even know what TFW means... sage this cancer!
What's the most autistic game you ever played?
Pic related
I'm guessing you were on the phone and you actually meant to say "artistic".
I vote for Ikaruga, it's the prettiest, hardest shmup (only fags say STG) known to man.
>>2806350
No, autistic.
Jim Power is the definition of autistic.
>>2806362
Why doe? I see no anthropomorphic animals or anime girls.
What are some games for SNES, Genesis, Saturn and PS1 that have anime cutscenes/stills like those old eroge games have (pic related)?
Valis obviously, but what else?
Pretty much anything by RENO/Telenet.
Phantasy Star IV
I just marathoned the first level of Half Life and I honestly don't get why it was so famous back in the day. Does it get better?
I'm going to assume you meant chapter, not level (map)
It stays about the same, give it another chapter.
It had lots of very fun set pieces and was the first a lot of players had to experience them. Running up to an artillery piece or heavy machine gun and actually being able to use it. Seeing a vent and actually being able to crawl inside it.
Mod community was also huge. Several modern full fledged companies got their start modding HL. When you were done playing the game, there was a bunch of extra levels available on PC Gamer CDs or off the internet, and lots of great multiplayer mods.
>>2806192
Depends, what 'first level'?
The reason it was so famous is because it looked great and played unlike what had been typical for FPSes since Doom. I remember the level of graphical realism adding a lot to the fun of the weapons, combat and especially level exploration.
It's insanely overrated, but it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination.
Well, except for the ending levels. Fuck those.
What do you think about this website and the "service" it offers?
I mean, I literally just found this and created an account and I think those could be used as a sort of "new challenge" for some games.
Currently replaying Mega Man X.
What are your opinions /vr/? I don't know if this topic has already been discussed here.
>>2805832
For clarification, this website offers some modified emulators that connect to a server that gives out Achievements for some old snes/megadrive/gb(a) games.
>Achievements
Sounds gay
I already successfully achieved all of my goals and mailed Polaroids of them to Activision
>collecting is so expensive
>emulating feels so fake
Are flashcarts literally the perfect point in between?
Aside from having to wait for 100% compatibility, and the price/quality angle, yes.
Perfect, no but it does give you most of the advantages
>>2805507
>aside from having 100% compatibility
most of them are pretty close honestly.
Genesis flashcart can't play 3 games(?), unless you get the expensive one.
Beggar Prince, Pier Solar, and Virtua Racing.
NES one has pretty high compatibility, just doesn't work on a few koei strat games that are also on different consoles.
PC engine has every game except SF2
SD2SNES has a good list except a good 8 or so games that they are trying to program.
Also not a flashcart but Pseudo saturn and the one light grey 4 in 1 AR has literally almost 100% compatibility, it can't play 2 games correctly(?), which are Croc and something no one cares about.
Ocarina or Majora?
yes
The Adventure of Link
>>2805502
Both
I like to think of them as companion titles that go hand in hand like Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles
Dear emulatorfags,
What's your perfect keyboard config?
Do you play WASD or arrow keys?
WASD + numpad, i play mostly games with few buttons though
I've been using arrow keys for movement and ASDF for actions for every emulator when I use a keyboard for as far as I can remember. In the case of SNES I'd always map A=A, B=F, X=S, Y=D, L=E, R=R, Start=Enter, Select=Space, occasionally switching keys when appropriate, like making A=F for any RPG that primarily uses A. WSAD only really makes sense to me if you're using a mouse.
WASD + arrow keys + shift for shoulders
Exception: N64 = arrow keys as c-buttons. This really helps for strafing and camera controls (and let's you do the famous "spinning throw" digitally if you hold a direction and rotate through the camera buttons on some games)
This was the best game
>>2805337
I like DK Junior better.
No, this is.
Was this a good game? I remember as a kid playing it I didn't understand it and hated the controls and couldn't get passed the first stage
It has its flaws. Money grinding is a real drag during the middle of the game
>>2804930
Yeah was one of my favourite games on the Amiga back then. Very atmospheric, gets hard as fuck later on though.
It has a good story and progression, but the controls are kind of bad. It would have been brilliant if it controlled a bit more like Prince of Persia or Another World.
