Is this man a genius, or the source of everything wrong with the industry today?
Do you think his concept for the 3DO could work in today's market?
maybe you should tell us what the fuck you mean first
It didn't even work in the market of that time :^)
Trip Hawkins is just unsuccessful Ken Kutaragi
Why was this game so much worse than its predecessors?
Why didn't you post in the thread asking the same fucking question?
Why do you keep remaking this thread?
I wouldn't go and say worse. It just didn't do anything unique. That doesn't mean it's a bad game.
Well, here in Michigan we've been hit by our first big snowfall, so it's time to get cozy.
What's you're preferred go-to cozy game for a nice blizzard? already snuggled up with your CRT and a VHS tape of a fireplace? Let's hear the best games/setup combo for maximum comfy,
While on the topic, what are some of the best ice/snow levels you can think of? most cozy, or just memorable. Ristar leaps to mind, especially that soundtrack...

Big snowfall? It's still quite green outside where I am at in Michigan. And Gameboy Tetris, to answer your question.

So I've beaten this game for the 3rd time this year, and I'm suffering post-RPG depression. Do you guys know of more SNES RPGs with a focus on complex gameplay rather than long cutscenes? I'd appreciate any recommendations.

You raise a steep bar, anon, considering how FFV has one of the best RPG systems of all time period. But try the Romancing SaGa games.

upreddited :)
What was the first game you beat?

Streets of Rage co-op with my brother.
Donkey Kong Land.
Probably Legend of Zelda or Mega Man 6
Happy 25th Birthday!
In commemoration -of the possibly the best Nintendo System- we post our favorite game and what is what we like about it.
I love Lufia 2, despite being a direction mess, the puzzles and the gameplay were awesome for a JRPG. Also the ancient cave.
I just got my first SNES a few days ago. I haven't been able to play it yet but my first games are Mystic Quest, UN Squadron, Chrono Trigger, Gradius III, Pop'n Twinbee, Super Famista, Rockman X2 and Dolucky no Kusayakiu
I used to spend all day playing an emulator back in the early 2000s, my favorite was probably EVO which I hope to pick up but I'm hoping to not pay ebay prices on that one.
Truly the best console.
imo SFC > PAL SNES > SNES Jr. > power gap > US SNES
>>2808943
Best Nintendo console, nothing ever came close to its awesome library.
My favorite games are the Romancing SaGa series, Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius, Metal Max Returns, Magical Pop'n, Ys V, Castlevania IV and Front Mission:Gun Hazard.
Honorable Mentions go to Alcahest, Brain Lord, Mystic Ark and Shiren the Wanderer.
does anyone else like deus ex
>>2808554
Cyberpunk, you gotta love Cyberpunk. Classic game, been watching a lot of the gameplay lately. Am a great fan of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So, should I buy it?
>>2808573
yeah man
the level design and dialogue is still top notch in this game, though the AI is honestly pretty bad, it was a pretty special game at the time it was released
>>2808554
I don't. Tried to get into it three times already but I think it's only good if you grew up with it.
Hey /vr/,
I don't come here too often, but I've been slowly collecting games I had or wanted as a child. Recently my ability to actually build my collection has grown incredibly.
Now the reason I mention this: I was curious if anyone had, or knew of, a list of good games (or I suppose games that are 'required' to have a decent collection) for NES, SNES, N64, Genesis and Saturn. I think it would be useful in building my list of games and a handy second list to go off of rather than just my memory.
>>2808528
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=best+games+ever
>>2808528
I'm going to overlook the douchebaggery of your question and recommend that instead of focusing on "required decent" games you look at the flavor of the games you currently have in your collection and you attempt to expand outward from those games, which is generally done by matching genres and/or themes. What is it that you enjoy about retro gaming? What additional games would expand your enjoyment?
But if you just want to be a douchebag about it choose a platform and start building a complete game set for it. N64 first for maximum douchebaggery.
Would you recommend playing Mother 1 before 2 and 3?
>>2808462
it doesn't matter, play them in any order.
it's better to play them in order but it won't ruin them or anything if you don't.
mainly I'd say just play mother 2 before 3 to get the full impact out of it
I wouldn't recommend playing any of them
I got tired of everyone shitflinging over e-celebs or whatever without providing any real content in past threads, so I dug up some youtube videos and a handful of articles that aren't purely about some random faggot trying to get attention. If you have any informative articles, videos, or books about /vr/ related topics then feel free to share.
Although I personally dont have a problem with let's plays (they make good background noise) try to keep in mind who or what you're linking to, as there are quite a few Anon's with some kind of autistic vendetta to carry out apparently.
And now that I've made the thread, I realize that two new jewtube threads have popped up in the time I was writing all this out.
Fuck.

DKC: 9/10
DKC2: 10/10
DKC3: 7/10
What are your reasons for why DKC3 was so inferior?
For me:
>enemy design is uninspired and generic compared to the other two
>no real "theme" (no pirates)
>music isn't as good
>animal friends aren't as fun/useful
Two words: Kiddy Kong
Kiddy Kong sucks mostly.
>>2808287
I honestly don't understand why people rank DKC1 higher than 3. 1 was fun and all, but very mediocre with repeating bosses and poor level design. 3 has the best bosses in the series and varied levels. People can say they're gimmicky, but this actually started in DKC2, where few levels didn't have their unique gimmicks. 2 is the best one, no doubt, but 3 is close behind. The atmosphere doesn't feel as exciting, though, and I think that has a lot to do with it. But it's undoubtedly better than 1, unless you hate Kiddy Kong so much that your entire view is skewed.
What are some games that could have been decent or good were it not for some key design flaws, making them unfair or frustrating to play?
Alternatively, what are some games that are good, but have extremely exploitable mechanics that make them too easy?
Post a game you believe fits either profile, and what you would fix about them. I'll start with a well-known game to kick us off.
FFVI is a pretty easy game from the get-go, but it becomes a total joke once you get the end-game equipment and spells. Atma Weapon+Offering obliterates everything, as does Ultima+Quick, not to mention the numerous exploits like Wind God Gau. Hell, Quick alone is almost impossible to balance from its design.
For starters, I would honestly remove Ultima and Quick, made it so Atma Weapon doesn't ignore the Offering damage debuff, and make the end-game monsters and bosses harder. Also make Magi Master not be vulnerable to Berzerk. He was supposed to be the game's super boss, kinda, after all.
I'll save you 200 shitposts

Why doesn't Gorman do any research when making videogame comics?
He pretty blatantly doesn't play most of them but gets upset when people call him out on that.
>>2807807
>no pummel
You could easily make a funnier comic with Cyan tickling the train to death with a Fenix Down, since that's what a lot of people do.
Anybody else fan of the SMT series? Which one is your favourite though?
Will be online in like 3 hours to answer anything.
Favorite retro is Soul Hackers followed by SMT 1.
Innocent Sin because Steven Seagal, homoerotic sexual tension, gaijin integration, rumors and hipster literature references.
Too bad Eternal Punishment was kinda meh and more anime-like.
One of my favorite games.
>>2807442
I'm sorry.
It looked interesting enough to try. I have it on my "to-do" list.
>>2807442
Totally agreed my friend, This and another I bought in the same night are what I consider my 'formative RPG"s.
I liked the simple yet different battle formula and most of the characters, the music really awesome as well, there's just a lot to like. It's been a long time since I played but I can still remember most of the big moments.
>>2807467
You could do a lot worse. So the game's rather linear, alright, I can deal.
Post comfy JRPG's
