Do you like playing pong?
Nicely done.
I made a pong game in C++ once.
This seems like it was probably infinitely harder.
Updating my retro rig and I was wondering why everyone always says to use a CRT instead of a modern TV. is this just because of nostalgia or is there a technical reason?
Why you should really do is emulate and use a computer monitor.
did you even bother googling
my four bubble bobble 2s
i got da earfbuond
>>2812794
how is it rare if you own 4 of them?
One of variety of rare things I own, no clue what is the rarest.
Prototype cartridge of Attack Animal Gakuen. No clue what it was used for (preview/review, demo, development, etc), but it lacks any sort of title label on the cart beyond the stickers numbering the ROMs.
This shit right here is the opposite of fun
The original graphics are way more fun, I agree.
>>2808915
At least they give the option to revert to those at will. Can't say the same for most HD remakes.
That whole game is opposite of fun.
I adore the first Monkey island, but 2 is such a piece of shit. Almost all of the damn puzzles are illogical as fuck and nigh impossible to solve without a guide.
ITT areas/locations you always remember for one reason or another.
I thought it was a roller coaster track when I was a kid and there was a roller coaster heading into the reactor.
>>2804128
I'll remember this entire game for the rest of my life even if I stop replaying it every other year.
Also, this particular screen always resonated with me emotionally for some reason.
Fuck this game is so beautiful aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
>>2804128
i can hear that music still, i remember i was too poor to afford the game but i had an Eidos demo disc that just included basically this "section" from the beginning when they come across that Shinra tower thing thats on the cover up to the gold saucer. For years I wanted that game so bad, I never knew how expansive it was, i figured this was near the beginning. I leveled up Cloud and Barretts limit break too by mistake once from overplaying it and was blown away. So much mystery so much potential that was to be. I bought the game used for playstation years later to emulate on my pc so I could finally play it. That game blew me away even, 6 or 7 years after its release. It gets a lot of hate but this game is probably the top gaming experience in my whole life. Sorry for the rant, todays been a long day introspective day.
What was the best Mega Man X game? When did the series die?
>>2800859
>>2800881
Well, X5 and X6 are at least playable.
X7 was the absolute obliteration of the series. X8 was... OK, but literally anything would've looked like gold next to X7.
That being said, I think X4 was the last really good X game.
>>2800884
>>2800881
X5 had a shit story but the levels/gameplay was just as good as X4. I liked X5 just because it was fun to play. I personally think the series died when X got that shitty ass falcon suit.
>>2800859
X1.
It never really died, although the quality was spotty at multiple points in the series' lifespan. X3 was boring shit, X5 was mediocre, X6 was rushed shit, and X7 was utter shit.
OK, /vr/, can you guys help a fellow anon out for a second?
This game, Ripper, has a faulty 3rd CD iso that results in a crash every time you try to enter a secret lab.
I went to some sketchy website hosted in Bratislava where someone else posted that they had this problem, where I learned two things:
1. Bratislava is an actual place where people actually live and not something Euro Trip made up.
2. The 3rd CD iso that's been around for who the fuck knows how long is what's causing the crash, and some dude uploaded it to said sketchy Bratislavian website and put it behind a paywall.
Does anyone have an actual physical copy of the 3rd CD they can rip?
Please note, this game is Ripper, not Jack the Ripper, not Jack the Ripper vs Sherlock Holmes, Mind Ripper, or, as google seems to think, Crash Bandicoot.
Just download from iso zone.
>>2818278
As I said, the iso that is currently widely distributed is fucked.
>>2818341
That may or may not work, but I only need the 3rd CD and that entire download is apparently going to take 10 days.
anyone here beat this? I'm finding it hard as fuck
>>2816579
I did.
It's hard as fuck.
Good discussion gentleman
>>2816585
any tips? was it mostly memorization eventually? I'm pretty good at platformers generally, the first mario is a breeze, so is stuff like donkey kong country
GoG has a sale on Goldbox games. Which GB game is the most accessible in your opinion?
Azure Bonds

Man I want to get both of these bundles but first one doesn't have HD rereleases and second one is expensive for a bunch of games that look poorly aged.
Also are any of those Star Trek games good?
God I hope this is good.
>>2810616
i'll prolly finally get into playstation if this thing has good compatibility
>>2810618
Same. Hoping the reviews are good.
Funny how everyone on /vr/ called it snake oil and a scam.

I failed to find a gameboy emulator for Arch Linux that can do full screen.
When I say gameboy I say gameboy, not GBC not GBA etc. It could emulate GBA or... but it MUST emulate Gameboy.
Can someone help me to find a decent gameboy emulator for Arch Linux that is capable of proper fullscreen.
>>2761396
sudo pacman -S vbam-gtk
Works great for me on i3wm
I wish diablo could run in DOS mode and by extension today in DOSbox on arm devices , oh well there's always the PS one version that can be emulated on arm.
Can someone please explain what the point in doing this to the map is?
>>2816410
You're walking upside down on the inner side of the Earth's crust. That's why it's shaped like the inside of a sphere.
Mode 7 was the shit at the time
Are there actually good ones?
Photopia is really great. Don't think it's retro though.
There are plenty of other good ones, but that's the first one that comes to mind.
>>2816294
>are there any good ones
The majority of them are. What's your problem with the popular ones? Zork and ADVENT are good introductions to the genre.
The Hobbit on the ZX Spectrum andnot retro: Heroes of Ardaniaare probably tied for my favorite, but the latter is pushing the definition of a text adventure.
Overall though, they're great games and it's hard to mess it up, sure there are bad ones, but there are a lot more good ones that I've played at least.
I remember enjoying Anchorhead and The Lurking Horror
