What do you think Georges favorite SNES game is?

NBA Hangtime
NFL generic game here
Major League Baseball
He's a try hard sports faggot

>"Aw c'mon George, you coulda gotten that ring"
>"You see how fast this little bastard goes? YOU try jumping in point-1-second!"
>"Kramer doesn't have any problem with it"
>"Kramer's a GameGenie-using son of a bitch, Jerry! He's a cheater, Jerry, A CHEATAH!"
I'm gonna start a thread where we help each other find games we encountered way back when but can't remember their name because I'm bored.
1. Post a description of the game to the best of your memory. MS Paint picture welcome.
2. Help other anons find their game.
3. Recommend other games to anons while you wait.
The game I've been trying to find is from around the mid 90's I think and has a large purple alien on the cover art.
The opening cinematic is the player getting inside some type of capsule/pod that's sitting in the middle of a science lab (tesla coils and blinking lights kind of look). You either time travel or get transported to another planet; the first level is a type of jungle with a village.
There are tons of spike fruits laying around everywhere and it the game controls like Diable/Fallout, etc; with a grid inventory on the main screen.
Two games I can't remember:
First one is a game where you have to survive in an alien world, and all the aliens speak a language that you can't understand. Someone suggested Captain Blood in previous threads but I faintly remember you owning a car with wheels in the game, rather than a spaceship. Also you had to buy parts from the aliens for your car.
Second one is a top-down action/horror game, can't seriously remember whether it had horror or not. The setting was an arctic village/base, maybe in Alaska or Antarctica? Gameplay was basically comparable to Hotline Miami, kind of.
Looking for a DOS(?) Action Platformer. You play as a walking reptile and blow shit up with weapons. Enemies would burst into meat, blood and bones if killed.
There's this "so many great untranslated retro games, sigh" idea being thrown around so often, but what are they?
I mean, not some niche games aimed at a small group of fans but actually great games that would have been generally considered such had they been translated?
>>2822252
is that black/matrix ? damn i gotta start this one.
>>2822276
No it's been fan-translated b8.
>tfw learned both sets of kana, and learned to search on jisho.org
That's literally enough to make most of those games playable, you might miss some of the story but fuck it, I'm in it for the gameplay.
Your favorite Street Figher version and system?
For me it's plain Street Fighter II - The World Warrior on SNES.
I don't see any reason to play the home versions of these games anymore other than nostalgia
I like Alpha 3 and Third Strike, emulated arcade
>>2821619
I suppose the one I've played the most is Alpha 2 but you can't go wrong with Super Turbo
For me it's Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PS1. Man I wish they'd release an online version on the PSN or something.

anyone know if they're having a sale on ROMs anywhere?
>>2820769
ROMs? No that's not legal I'm afraid, but they sell digital downloads of ROMs on PSN, nintendo e-shop etc...
>>2820769
Everywhere, everyday, for free, on the net. Unless you like the feel of original hardware in your hands.
(I do)
Which Gameboy era Zelda game is your favorite, and why is it Link's Awakening?
>Perfect challenge
>Tons of hidden items and homage's to other games
>Emotional ending
>Best waifu
unless youre including oracle games that's the only one anon
>>2820505
I really liked all the references in LA. Also was this the last time Wart appeared in a nintendo game?

Link to the Past is bestest. You get Master Sword after 3 dungeons, fight Ganon and then surprise Bitch, dark world with 9 dungeons and going back and forth getting extra stuff, fuck mane.
ITT: What's your favorite Breakout clone, /vr/?
Cyberblock Metal Orange

>>2820490
Clearly the DX-Ball series, awesome levels, powerups, editor, etc.. and other stuff really worth it.
>>2820524
>Cyberblock Metal Orange
Amazing soundtrack, saved.
>Invisible + X-Zone kills everything in one hit 100% guaranteed, even bosses
Why was this allowed?
>>2820353
I'll take Glitches And Programming Oversights for 500, Alex.
>>2820353
Evade is literally a worthless stat. All evade calculations use Magic Evade.
>Why was this allowed?
A better question is:
Which game is more glitch-heavy between G1 Pokemon and FFVI?
I think they're both high contenders for the coding mistake crown.
What's the point of this? They do nothing but make the screen look darker.
filters blends dithered pixels
scanlines sharpens them back and yeah they do make shit darker
>>2820071
>What's the point of this? They do nothing but make the screen look darker.
That's because you just turned the screen 50% black
Half of the retards: Why are retro games colors so oversaturated?
The other half: What's the point of scanlines?
What's the first (retro) game that /vr/ remembers actively anticipating before its release? As in, you didn't just see it at a store or receive it as a gift, you knew it was coming out and we're excited for it.
I'm pretty sure mine would be Pokemon Gold and Silver. The first issue of EGM I ever bought had a big preview of GS, and magazines were pretty much my only source of game news as a little kid. I lost track of how many times I read that single issue of EGM over and over.
Majora's Mask
ocarina of time
I didn't pay attention much to game magazines and stuff until after the /vr/ era. I just played what I saw in the video store.
Was Malon the best Ocarina of Time gril?
>>2819684
waifu thread?
naked fish loli is best
>>2819761
The head ruined it for me. I liked Naboruu
>>2819785
I too have a weird thing for big-nosed wimmens.
The entire premise of this is fundamentally flawed unless split-screen can become a feature.
And yet Chip'n'Dales, Goof Troop, Secret Of Mana, and just every run&gun and beat-em-up work perfectly fine in non split screen co-op...
>>2819503
But those are 2D games. The screen can be easily locked.
It's harder to have both players on one screen in 3D game because of the camera.
>>2819503
A big open 3D platformer is obviously a different story.
Anyone still play this over private servers?
Got my broadband adapter but the people on Sylverant have gamecubes
>>2817079
I play on Ephinea, it's alright
Schthack broke up because they're all niggers that can't get along some shit and probably some combination of everyone jumping ship to PSO2, making it pointless to maintain anymore
>>2817082
Yeah, I feel ya. Fuck Sega for not making an NA version of PSO2. I want to buy the jap version but that's a lot of nonsense just to play it and not know wtf is going on
PSO is awesome, played the original DC version way back in the day, still got my save file but using it online is a pain nowadays.
Easily the best game on the Dreamcast for my money, even with all the cheaters, although even the cheaters were pretty high quality. I can't think of any other games where somebody could maliciously overwrite your save with a random low level NPC.
It's a shame that schtserv went down. It might not have had the best admin team but it really feels like the end of an era.
Lately I discovered a pretty good PSO-like game in the sadly not retro (just turned 10 years old on Monday) .hack//fragment for ps2. They definitely weren't subtle about how much they loved PSO, I haven't tried the private server online mode yet and this is pretty off topic so I'll shut up, but yeah PSO is great.
If I'm going to play Chrono Trigger, should I play the SNES or PS1 version? Keep in mind, I'm not looking forward to paying $100~ for the SNES version either, and I don't like emulating. Thanks.

do whatever makes you happy
>please tell me the answer I already have in my head but want to hear from you
Fuck off
