Alright folks, I'd like to buy a ntsc-j sega saturn but I honestly have no clue about what to do in regards to CRT compability (if a regular PAL crt would work on it or if SCART would work) I dont know if it can somehow be modded to play pirate games from other regions.
If any of you European anons or anons who know about this subject could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Ive looked up online and I saw some sega saturns for sale on ebay but they are often untested and look kinda shady too, so I dont know.
Also, I dont plan on pirating in the long run but I have my reasons.
Blog post: My father was big sega enthusiast back in the day but he ended up giving most of his stuff for donation and I know he loves Panzer Dragoon (the whole series, but specially Saga) and I really would like to surprise him with a sega saturn, I dont have a job so I was hoping for the cheapest method and I know I cant spend a thousand bucks or something for Panzer Dragoon Saga

Thanks in advance.

We had a thread just this weekend I think on this very topic. Basically any name brand yuro CRT even from the early 90s should be capable of displaying NTSC. You WILL want a voltage converter of course
>>
>>4245154
I see, what about the voltage converters though? Is there anything in specific that I should look for?
If I do get a jp saturn I want to be able to play on a PAL crt but I also would like to fully understand everything I need beforehand so I dont make any stupid mistake.
How trust worthy are the ebay sellers?
>>
>>4245307
Fairly trustworthy when it comes to shit working as described just bad to sell chinese stuff that will die within a few months once it's too late to get a refund.

My official Sega six button turbo pad is way better.
>>
I bought one expecting the same feel as the official Sega pads and was severely disappointed. No shit tho, I guess. It feels cheap, the dpad is wobbly as fuck and imprecise, and the buttons squish down in a way that just doesn't feel responsive.

What happened here?

This is on an original cartridge on an original SNES. No emulator or romhack. I've tried to clean both the game and the console but to no avail. It's a fresh game file.

Is my game just cursed?

You're going to get shit on way harder for playing in 16:9. I assume it always behaves this way since you said you cleaned it. Those blocks are pretty uncommon. Any other glitches to note?
>>
>>4245063
>You're going to get shit on way harder for playing in 16:9

The reason it is in 16:9 is because I had to test the game on a different television, and I could not bother to change it to 4:3 just to see if the glitch was still there.

how easy is it to fix arcade machines?
I have a machine I bought used but the buttons are a little sticky and the stick is lose, how hard would it be to replace them, my only frame of reference is a fight stick
18 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Easy. Get in from the back and there's probably some pop-loose clamps that hold the control panel on. Flip it over and take a look at the mechanisms. Sticky buttons should easily just disassemble and clean. Loose joystick might be adjustable, might be a matter of replacing springs, might need a whole new stick but the parts are pretty cheap - even good ones.
>>
>>4245074
thanks, what would be a good place to buy replacements? and is it just as easy to replace as a fight stick stick and buttons which usually just take a gentle pull on the wires and plug them back in or is it more difficult
>>
>>4245080
A good arcade stick is usually made with literally real arcade parts so it should be exactly the same. Just shop on eBay. Weebs usually go for Siemetsu style but I'm a Happ man myself.

Equal-effort answer is "keep playing". What are you struggling with, specifically?

always be manufacturing things no matter what, items cost money up front to make but you can always sell them for a profit. Just always be making stuff.

Any retro arcade games with some depth?

For example, something I would buy or assemble at my home, and be able to sit and play as long as I'd like

I've seen Gauntlet 64 (Legends?) arcade machines, and on those titles you explore (albeit not some sometimes it seems) and can collect some items and go to new areas

Not interested in emulation, I would buy the board, or a board with the game on it, which might affect what choices I have
>>
Are you saying that you want something with a robust 1P campaign? If so, no, you probably won't find much. Most depth for 1P games come from extreme difficulty that requires multiple plays in order to clear what is otherwise a short game without credit feeding. Skill development and score pursuit are other aspects that add depth and replayability. The goal of arcade games is to make money, so they don't want to make long, moderately difficult games that encourage one person to play for hours at a time without putting in more money. Unless you have very high dedication to a particular game or genre, hooking up a single arcade PCB for one player play with unlimited continues in your house will probably get boring after awhile.

I'd love to be wrong and hear some exceptions, though. If you want to go the arcade route, I'd suggest having at least a handful of titles ready to swap in and out so you don't get sick of one particular game.
>>
>>4244863
It would be for a personal arcade

The game itself can be more than one player, that's fine. Yeah, think I might be looking at beat em ups

Can we have a thread about fan-translation projects that not everyone is necessarily aware of?

Bushi Seiryuuden: Futari no Yuusha is a Super Famicom action-RPG developed by GameFreak. It has Zelda-style, overhead exploration and side-view battles in semi-real time, where every movement or action counts as a "turn". It's steeped in Japanese folklore/mythology and has character designs by Ken Sugimori of Pokemon fame.

Anyway, there's an active fan translation project for this game here:

What are other WIPs do you know of, /vr/?

The SaGa 2 and 3 remakes for DS have fan translations. I think the one for SaGa 3 is technically incomplete. The group translating it eventually dissolved due to some retarded e-drama that no one cares about. Autism is not at all uncommon in the ROM hacking scene.

So I just downloaded this "6666 in 1 Retro Legends" rom pack, all emulators allegedly included. My question is how do I play it? When I try to open the file I just get prompts to burn it on a disc. Do I have to burn a DVD in order to play anything?
