/vr/ what's the easiest/fastest way to play burned games and imports on PSX? I've looked into mod chips and swap discs but not sure what to get.
Have thought about just buying a Jap PS1? You can get them on fleabay for under $50 bucks. If you're not a purest though, just emulate on computer.
>>2910579
I wouldn't mind getting one for Japanese games but I still wouldn't be able to play burned games. I do prefer the original consoles to emulation for the most part.
If anyone even sells PS1 mod chips anymore, I imagine they would be dirt cheap. Of course, you'll need to know how to work a solder to install it. If you want to go that route, make sure the chip you buy is compatible with your specific PlayStation model.
The method I use is a PS-X-change swap disc. I happened to spot it on eBay a while back for like $6, so it was an impulse buy. It comes with a little sticker that you use to tape down part of your PSOne's lid so the console believes the lid is closed at all times, which allows you to swap discs in the first place. The drawback is that some multi-disc games won't work correctly. e.g. You won't be able to switch to disc 2 of Parasite Eve (*) since the game will be unable to detect when you've opened the lid on the console. I believe games that prompt you to save before switching to the next disc are fine though.
The swap disc allows you to play both burned discs and imports. (Only NTSC-J games on an NTSC-U console, though) For burned games, you need to make sure you're downloading an accurate rip of the game, and that you use quality media to burn it, such as Taiyo Yuden or JVC discs. The PS1 is very fickle about this. If the rip you've downloaded isn't absolutely perfect, or you're using some cheap media like Verbatim discs you bought at Walmart, then the games aren't going to work, or there's going to be shit like FMV stutter or random lock-ups.
* I get around the multi-disc compatibility issues by backing up my memory cards, running the game in an emulator on my desktop, and saving my progress after switching to the next disc. Then I copy the data back to my memory card and resume playing on my PSOne. I suppose it's a lot of hassle, though.
Alternatively, there may be GameShark codes for this sort of thing. The swap disc allows you to input GS codes before loading your game.

That said, bottle adventure and RBA basically let you do anything...it's not quite "secrets" anymore when using bottle adventure...moreso just sort of writing whatever the fuck you want into memory.

If you play ANYTHING other than pure, uncut/unmodded Doom (the way the designers intended) You, yes, YOU are fucking casual scum and have no right to enjoy Doom. That is all.

That's a nice, hot, steaming pile of shit opinion you got there, OP.
>>2910518
The designers intended and supported mods and the base game is just that, the base game.
Not only are you factually incorrect but functionally retarded, good job OP.

does pseudosaturn not allow you to play games that need the ram from the 4-in-1?
You can use the extra RAM, what you can't use is the memory storage in the cart.

For best 3D graphics, Einhander (or Tekken 3 if you can tolerate the interlacing).
Spyro 3 IMO. It just looks wonderful.

Is there a worse console in history than this?
>causes eyestrain
>library of about 25 games

You'd think Nintendo of all companies could do better than this.
game.com is a massive piece of shit. just watch.

I liked it. I never got why everyone hated it. Maybe the price. We are so hard on companies for trying new things. With PS3 in the begining at least they toughed it out until they started to get games. I feel like Vboy, 32x, and the like threw their hands up in the air and said FUCK THIS before even really giving it a chance.
>>2910089
It was good that they threw in the towel with the 32X and Virtual Boy. You already had the Saturn on the horizon so why extend the life of the Genesis with an add-on and split who would be developing for your main consoles like that? For Nintendo they already had a home console and a Gameboy, and the Virtual Boy didn't fill in either space for portability or being a home console so it was inherently inferior to both products that Nintendo already had, none-the-less they would need to develop games for three systems now.
Never played a Bubble Bobble game but I know that it's got a ton of ports. Is there a "definitive" version or are all the ports basically the same?
>>2909825
Can't recommend the arcade version enough.
>>2909873
Basically this. It really is the best.
I'll also recommend the c64 version. Slightly worse graphics due to wide pixels, but plays exactly the same. Where it beats the NES is by having a very good title song. NES only has the in-game music. I know the DOS version also has this song. Did any other version?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yuVQ-jbh_8&ab_channel=PeyserCommodore
And stay the FUCK away from Bubble Bobble Neo on xbox360. It's by far the worst version I've ever played. By... FAR!
While we're at it what are the best versions of the Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) games? I'd assume console since most of them have extra levels and stuff. Also, did the arcade versions of actual analog controls or were they just digital sticks?
What was there best game and why was itJohn Madden Football '93?
