/vr/ help me with this. I have an old computer gathering dust and I would like to turn it into an emulation machine. I was thinking of hooking it up directly to a TV and make the pc boot directly to some program that would start the emulators. I was wondering if any of you guys have experience with this or any advice, or if it's achievable at all?
>>2911953
No.
Theres absolutely no way to do what you're asking.
>>2911953
google search Retroarch.
read the rest there.

Thanks man
The world in Croc feels weirdly empty. It's like a shell of the world of Spyro except uninhabited except for the little furry things Croc is rescuing. Playing it feels like playing emptiness.
I wish someone would make a modern day game that captures this feeling. Maybe a horror game.

croc is a horror game

Surprisingly Epic Mickey feels that same way.

It's funny, I never really listened to this track and how fucking good it gets because in game you only hear about 40 seconds of it before you hit the wolfman form.
Another good track is Gain Ground's first world theme

From here on, only disappointment awaits.
Post the most expensive retro game in your collection /vr/. Come brag about spending huge sums of money on chunks of plastic and cardboard (or finding excellent deals on those items!)
Do we have any high-rollers here who own games like Stadium Events or NWC?
I own shining force CD, shining force 3 (NA), magic knight rayearth (saturn NA) and demons crest.
Those are probably my most expensive games.
Hey we actually haven't had this thread in a little while. Still have this old picture to drag out for whenever it pops up.
>>2911465
As far as "high rollers" go I know we have an anon with Magical Chase, and another with Little Samson. There's a few Duck Tales 2, Bubble Bubble 2, and Chip & Dale 2 floating around.
Battle Mania Daiginjou on the Mega Drive. Only available through mail order via a Japanese magazine. Very good game too.
I have Panzer Saga PAL version, Radiant Silvergun, Alien Soldier JAP version and MUSHA JAP version too.
Quite a few Japanese Mega Drive games are worth a surprising amount these days actually. I didn't pay too much for them 10/15 years ago.
Just bought one of these and I want to mod it for RGB - through the multi-out if possible. Hook me up v
>buying glorified clones
Get a real one. fag.
sure! You just need to identify the correct signals off the video chip. Ohwaityoucant! Your shitty system on a chip clone doesn't have one.
What are some western games well received in Japan? Pic related
wizardry

And Ultima and Might and Magic.
Suprisingly enough Lemmings 1 and 2 were released on the SFC. Neither Super Turrican nor The Lost Vikings managed to do that.
Not retro, but I remember at least one of the Medal of Honor games being fairly popular in Japan, though they were basically playing a murder simulator of their fathers and grandfathers.
Is Megadrive really obscure console in Japan?
It sold like 4 million units to the Super Nintendo's 19 million. It's not Xbox tier, but Sega didn't have a really popular console in Japan until the Saturn. They killed it in arcades though.

I have no idea what this means. Are posts like this really where /vr/ is at these days?

Think of the Pc Engine in the west.
>ITT: ZELDA VS
Everyday there are threads spamming of people giving their subjective opinion to which Zelda game is the best one, it's fun to read what some opinions are but wouldn't it be nice to try to objectivly try to figure out which one comes close to being the top pick? I know this is not going to be perfect, but I was thinking since you guys have good backgroundknowledge of most of the games we could work together and make a list of the strengths and weaknesses of each game.
Since this is /vr/ the disccussion should only be about the relevant Zelda's, but just out of curiousity a Strawpoll is included where you can vote your favorite game (even from the newer ones.) Sidegames like the CD-i and Satellaview are not in the race.
These are possible discussion topics I came up with, more are aprecciated, just don't forget they should be as objective as possible (e.g. artistic style should not really be of concern)
>Number of Dungeons
>Number of Secrets
>Number of Enemies
>Number of Soundtracks
>Sales
>Playtime
>Number of Items
>Sidequests
>NPC's
Lastly, do you think we should differenciate between the bird's-eye view, 3D and sidescolling games? One could argue that they change the dynamic of the game
Strawpoll:
http://strawpoll.me/6516432
Sorry for this diary, but maybe we could have a change of wind and have something productive in /vr/ instead of battlemaymaynia
I'll start with number of Dungeons:
>LOZ:9(+9)
>TAoL: 7
>ALttP:13
>LA:10 (+1 in DX)
>OoT: 12
>MM: 8
>OoA: 11
>OoS: 11
So, this is a tricky one; if you consider the second quest of LoZ to be additional dungeons it wins (18), followed by ALttP (13) and OoT (12)
So this round would go to LoZ

What do you think is over that horizon? Also why do the mountains look like graphical glitches?
Sonic backgrounds and 16 bit cityscapes are great for some reason.
>>2911210
You're near the outskirts of Palm Desert, a suburb of Sandopolis. Didn't you know?
>>2911210
That dithering would look so much better blended on a CRT as intended.
You could switch between three characters. One was a woman in a skimpy green dress the second was a large muscular man and the third was a woman with a yellow skirt over a suit.
It took place a a sci-fi setting and one of the characters was named zach.
Alien Storm?
You're welcomed.

Dendy.
I'm not sure how interested /vr/ is in this, but I'm sure you guys have watched the last couple of GDQs. If you remember the super jump and jumproll glitches, it was recently found that you could perform both at the same time, giving speedrunners the ability to roll over stages. I'll make a video in a bit, but you can find my stream in the DKC section of Twitch if you want to come check it out.
SNES glitching is always boss.
Where do no percentage requirement speedrunners draw the line? If holding a certain button combo at startup allows you to warp straight to the ending, would that become the preferred way to "speedrun" said game?
>>2911173
Yes it would be considered a speedrun.
Speedrunners allowed to use any glitches they find.
A button combo like you described is a speedrunner's Christmas.
Hello, just picked up 3 n64 controllers at a yard sale and the sticks are ultra limp. They register on games but it feels like shit.
I want to replace them but I my previous repair box oem didn't feel right as far as character movement goes. It always felt like mario was locked into going forward if I tilted up and would take more movement for him to move left and right, it just didn't feel right.
I've also heard similar stories about the gamecube style ones have crappy movement and a weird deadzone.
Basically what I'm wondering is, can I get away with just replacing pic related? What I was thinking was that I could clean and grease out the bowl and replacement these two axis'. I really like the stick and mechanism nintendo provides.
Thanks lads
Scramp them for buttons for non limp controllers.
>Best Game Boy Color games.
Revalations the Demon Slayers, Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 and 2.
the wario games where you couldn't die in them were fucking garbage

That's kind of a shitty opinion anon.
