Would building a raspberry pi emulator machine inside an old snes case be feasible for a guy who's only accomplishment with computer hardware is building a desktop pc and who only knows how to copy/paste as far as coding is concerned?
just put a wii inside it.
Put it on a jaguar case and sell under the coleco name, you'll make millions.

Give it up Mike, your dream is dead.
Does anyone own one of the cirka N64 controllers?
I got one but the control stick is so damn tight and squeaks a lot. aside from that I really really like them and wanna get two more but is there anything I can do to loosen it? will it go away with use or can i take it apart and do something to it?
>>3050862
just get some nintendo ones
none of the replicas have sticks that are near the same quality as actual nintendo controllers
really its just worth the extra money for getting real n64 controllers
>>3050871
Not OP, but finding an official controller with a joystick that isn't worn to crap is getting very hard to do these days.
>>3051034
i found 3 today
only one of mine has a joystick thats worn to shit and we're getting closer to being able to repair the original sticks
even with the worn sticks i'd still say the official controllers are easier to use than repros

Is there a bigger cancer than fighting games?
Go back to >>>/v/
>>3050250
How about you explain to us in detail all the ways you think fighting games are terrible so we can all laugh at you for the millionth time? I'm game if you are, friend.
So what's your biggest beef?
>>3050250
Well, you exist. Can't get any bigger than that.
How the fuck were you supposed to know how to damage anything in this game?
Really forcing this meme hard, aren't we?
>>3050258
It's going to get worse when spring break starts in April.
Protip the gameplay doesn't get better.
Why people like this repetitive shit is beyond me.
Probably a different sort of thread than usual here, but I figure there's no better place to ask. To cut to the chase - me and a friend have a story set in 1986, and I want to know what sorts of games/consoles are popular or out around that time.
I already know about the NES, the MSX and arcades, but I'm digging around to find more stuff, flesh out the world a lot more.
If you're including something like the MSX, your story is already extremely obscure and probably hipster.Or maybe it's a story about some social reject/rich kid.
Are you like 15 and just looking at wiki shit?
Where is your story going to take place?
>>3050236
Take out the MSX and replace it with a SMS
Do you guys think this could've been a cult-classic (like secret of mana or similar titles) if it had been released in the US?
Or do you think an US release wouldn't have made a difference?
Doubt it. Late release SNES RPG with a trilogy that already wasn't that popular as a whole.
Even now I don't have much of an incentive to give it a try.
>>3050191
Was illusion of gaia ever a cult classic? I don't think so.
>>3050193
I should ad I had no idea the game existed till like 2010.
How the fuck were you supposed to know the right arrow d-pad moves you?

How the fuck were you suppose to know to stomp on the enemies? I legit don't remember how I figured it out.

Does anybody have a reputable source of good quality RGB Scart cables for retro consoles? Looking for a new source since http://www.ebay.com/usr/retro_console_accessories doesn't seem to be doing it anymore other than a few special requests. I don't trust these random chinese sellers
Wait for restock.
Or make your own.

She takes the store down from time to time; I doubt that she's taken it down permanently.
Alternatively, if you're impatient: http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/
Literally the greatest force in gaming that no one has heard of. This guy literally brings old games back from the dead.

SegaCD has ~150 games.
How many of these are "buttonal films" as opposed to real games?
Here you go scooter.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sega_CD_games
It was mostly just one company making the majority of them. I'd wager there's around 20ish including the anime fmv games as well. Might be more if you include the leaked isos/aftermarket releases.
The Sega CDs real problems were the lack of arcade games and Japanese support.
FMV isn't trash by definition, you can make a good game out of it. D, Myst, and that X Files game come to mind.
Is only Dragon's Lair clones that get old pretty fast.
Post your favorite game.
You know, that game you've sunk thousands of hours into. That game you think objectively tops all other games. That game you think nothing has come close to, even today.

Perfect blend of action, level design, music and sound, graphical art style, varied and strategic gameplay, modification ability built in by the creators, still has huge level making scene going strong constantly churning out quality content.
>>3049085
In my personal opinion, Doom's "art style" is more of a nostalgic and iconic thing than being genuinely amazing.
>>3049126
I don't feel that way. I think it strikes a perfect balance between giving enough detail to provide a direction, but leaves enough to the imagination to fill in the missing details.
It also gets pixelated up close and that's an aesthetic preference of mine, it always has been, even in the 90s. I lamented high resolution games of the mid-late 90s because they were all about "realistic" lighting of simple polygons with shitty texture smoothing.
Thief 2, and playing and creating its fan missions
Were there any games where you had customization options? I cant recall any old games who had more than maybe showing another weapon at the sprite. The only one that comes kinda close is RO with all the Headgear. Pic slightly related, the dye options they implemented later.
>see thread, don't read it all the way
>what the fuck is this RO shit in here
>oh
Anyway, you're right, I didn't play RO because it looked like a terrible Gaia Online Grindfest but I'm always excited to play a game and see that my main dude is wearing the armor I just spent a bunch of time grinding for
Well there were several games that had features to build your own levels. Some examples are Excitebike on NES, or Q Billion and Cattrap on Game Boy.
>>3048896
Ah i'm sorry. I know RO doesn't really belong here, but it has nice sprites, and it's the only thing i could thought of. And yeah it's really grindy but it was fun when i was 14.
