Is princess the best character to play as in Super Mario 2?
>>3056018
yep! but toad is the most fun
Why did you take an ugly picture of your TV screen?
>>3056018
I always played Luigi. Do I lose now?
I think most people may already know about this;

Sound familiar? It is if I recall the Shop Theme from Final Fantasy 1.
But then my friend showed me this album out of nowhere;

Have a listen and see what you think.
Do we know of any developers or old-time composers that stated on record what their inspirations were?
Pretty common OP.

Koji Kondo was an ELP fan
OP here, forgot about Elec Man's theme
>>3055836
Who's ELP
Anyone have experience with the RetroFreak? How is it?
It's pretty good though for the price can do most of the things that you can already do with a PC and/or a Raspberry Pi aside from the whole play from cartridges angle.
It's built better and has more use than the Retron 5 though the asking price is a bit much at $200. (My girlfriend bought mine so I can't complain too much)
>>3055770
Fuck sake.
>>3055774
Default controller kinda sucks. But I just use a USB SNES pad which works perfectly fine.
Megadrive or Genesis?
Genesis 'cause I'm a God fearin patriot who don't got no anteater lookin smegma filled dick
GENESIS DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T, FAGGOT
BLAST PROCESSING
What was it called in Australia?
Just ordered one of these from Amazon. Really getting into PS1 gaming and the stock PS2 D-pad hurt my fingers and are terrible for fighters. Anybody have any experience with the Dual Impact? Supposedly it has a mode where you can use the analog sticks as the digital d-pad, something very rare on PS1/PS2 gamepads.
Hopefully yours doesn't come with dried dogshit smeared over the face buttons like in your OP.
>>3055219
That's light reflection you retard
>>3055279
It's dead skin cells. It looks nothing like the actual light reflection you can see on the d-pad.
Can Gameboy Colours play Gameboy games in black & white or does it have to play them in a shade of colour?
Also gameboy or handheld general I suppose.
Gray is a color, Anon.

>adding DS to a gameboy timeline
DS is not a gameboy

Exactly who thought Platoon would make a good video game? I mean, really. For one thing, it was a serious movie, not a cheesefest like Ghostbusters or something, secondly kids are the primary market for video games and how many of them were interested in a drama about the Vietnam War anyway.
>>3055062
>kids are the primary market for video games
Movie tie-ins had instant recognition and pre-established fans.
American "Action" films were huge money and foreign devs saw dollar signs even if they didn't understand the source material properly they understood the gullibility of the American consumer.

As a new PVM owner. I have a bunch of questions.
1. Should the chroma setting be at on, off, or auto?
2. Should my NTSC be at 7.5 or 0?
3. What are the best settings overall?
>>3054898
There's a thread for this
USE THE CATALOG
>>3054898
bad news, you have asperger's
black level should be at 7.5
>>3054898

where I can find the DOS version of doom at a good price?
Mine doesn't work
The internet
>>>/doom/
>>3054889
I think I still have the original doom on a CD somewhere. You can buy it for 60$ - you pay shipping
>>3054889
gog has them digitally. Better setup of dosbox, and cheaper overall than steam
I'm gonna blow 35 bucks on Amazon and buy myself a set of 7 2.25'' paperweights and pretend that they are chaos emeralds.
i have found 8 colors available so I have to leave one color out. Which color do I leave out?
GREEN
TEAL
BLUE
YELLOW
RED
ORANGE
PURPLE
PINK
CLEAR
That's 9 colors.
But anyway, it varies by game.
>>3054736
Clear isn't a color.
>TEAL
>ORANGE
Drop the post-Golden Age shite, obviously.
I've recently acquired a Sony PVM 1350, but I've noticed the RGB slots on the back only say RGB and not RGB/Component. Can I still use Component cables?
>>3054353
You'll need BNC dawg.
>>3054362
I've got BNC to RCA adapters. I get great picture, but there's a green tint.
>>3054371
Adjust the nobs on the front.
You get RGB via a BNC adapter cable.
Populous thread? Populous thread!
In all seriousness though, this is one of those games I have never been able to figure out. First emulated it for SNES and later bought a loose cart for SNES on the cheap at a now defunct local store.Almost bought the DS version, just because I love the idea of the game, even if I can not understand how to play it. Anyone else a fan of Populous? Stories and whatnot are quite welcome.
OP here, I might just not be able to play games by Bullfrog. I have yet to figure out how to get Syndicate to go from the item/mission/stats screen to the actual game as well. Dungeon Keeper as well. The lack of manuals probably was the cause, or my own stupidity. Syndicate Wars was pretty neat however.
>>3054137
It's a fun game, I only recently figured it out, like last year. Haven't played it since though. Have owned it forever, you just are supposed to make things as favorable as possible for your people, and help them flourish as much as you can.
I had both this and Populous 2 on the Atari ST as a kid. As much as I enjoyed the first game, 2 was so much better with the heavily expanded magic and champion systems.
I'm from Europe btw
>>3054107
China. Look at shoptemp for suggestions.
Also not retro.
>>3054107
Not retro. Please read the board rules before posting.
>>3054112
Any of these sites don't accept my credit card wtf
Did you ever beat this game before it became a meme?
I never actually beat it, I was born in 1991, and grew up with SNES and n64, but I remember when prankcalling gamestops to ask if they had battletoads was a /b/ thing way back in 2008 or so.
Its funny, because meme culture wasn't even a fucking thing back then.
Are there any other games that are this hard in the modern era?
nah, it was too hard. we'd just play TMNT Arcade or the Manhattan one on the NES instead.
What's the best for handheld emulating?
In my (admittedly limited) experience, most handheld emulators are horribly inaccurate junk. Stick to emulation on a real PC, and play actual portable games when you're out and about.
>>3053917
I've been happily using my New 3DS for emulation. I like it more than a PSP.
But I suppose some kind of "android tablet with buttons" thing is going to be way better than either.
>>3053943
Regular size or XL?
Is it comfy?
Are the buttons and d-pad any good?
Do the GB, GBC, and GBA emulators all run at full speed?
