Is Knuckles' campaign in S&K before or after Sonic's, chronologically?

I played it for the first time recently and enjoyed it. Its different from the genesis games, but its still pretty cool and a worthy addition to the series. I don't understand the people who sperg out about it being bad. How do you guys feel about 3D Blast by the way?

Does anybody have any good recommendations for retro console arcade sticks? More specifically, SNES and/or Genesis, but additional compatibility is a bonus. Obviously I'd prefer a jack of all trades stick to save on space/expense, but I understand that may be a pipe dream.

I was going to pick up one of these, but I read a lot of stuff about it being absolutely terrible. Wasn't sure if you guys had any solid recommendations. Additional modability would be nice, but if it needs soldering I probably wouldn't be adventurous enough.

Your best option is to build a stick then grab some busted controllers off of ebay for parts.
It shouldn't be too difficult but swapping controls might be annoying
>>
>>3070630
>>3070608

Definitely this.

Cannibalize a board of a working but cosmetically fucked controller.

Use the board, connector and cable.

Build a housing, probably wood, there are some cool ones, like that one guy has a furry one and some others use metal or plexiglass.

Then you just buy some nice parts like sanwa, or other good quality arcade parts and wire it up.

You'd be amazed how simple and easy it is to wire up something like that. I've been meaning to do it myself since I have a couple of busted ones.

I'm probably gonna cannabalize one of my SNES advantages because I'd like the turbo functions for some games.
>>
>>3070608
>>3070682

I forgot to comment on the SNES advantage. It's not terrible, but the stick is squishy, and the buttons don't really have that nice press and spring back that standard push buttons do. I use mine mostly for JRPG's and the auto fire for getting through random battles. I've beaten sunset riders with it, and it's alright, but I definitely prefer microswitches.

If you've never used a microswitched controller, then it's probably alright, but its definitely squishy and can be a bit inaccurate at times.

hey /vr/, what's the way to go with the famicom? i've owned around 20 nes consoles throughout the years and they've all been super unreliable, are the failure rates on the famicom better? i'd like to get into collecting for the famicom but i'm not sure whether to go with one of the several famiclones, the original, the famicom av, or the twin famicom. pls assist thanks.

Your best bet is the model 2 Famicom. Solid build design, comparable to a top loader NES, but with composite AV out, shouldnt be any compatability issues either. I'd recommend the Sharp Twin Famicom but the disk drive is just to unreliable.
>>
>>3068469
Also just to clarify: This is coming from an anon who has owned a standard RF Famicom, a modded AV model 1 Famicom, an AV Famicom, a Sharp Twin Famicom, a Famicom Disk System and a Generation NEX.

Hey /vr/, I recently got back into collecting retro again. It's been a great ride but some games are just way too expensive. It started with MUSHA on the genesis. I really wanted to play that game but paying hundreds is just ridiculous. Then I found out it was on the Wii VC and bought it right away. Best decision ever!

What I wanted to know is, what other games are extremely expensive to collect but are on the Wii VC?

I don't know much about the TG16 so I want to look into that, as well as the NeoGeo(though I already have the NG Collection on Wii).
26 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Wikipedia should have a pretty exhaustive list of every virtual console release. Are you playing these on a wiiU?

I should tell ya, it's really easy to mod your original Wii and just download virtual console WADs.

As far as expensive but on VC, do not ignore Rondo of Blood for the TurboGrafx. One of the best retro games in existence, and unavailable anywhere else except for a horrible 'updated' PSP port.
>>
>>3068092
I'm not an expert at TG16, but the main advantage has to be running on reliable hardware and not having to deal with the CD addon. The VC library is pretty decent too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_for_Wii_%28North_America%29
>>
>>3068189

Yeah, I've found the list but I was wondering about things in particular that were either never released here like Pulseman or stuff that's extremely expensive to have a physical copy of like MUSHA.

I recently purchased SMRPG, and I have Ogre Battle and Alien Soldier on my list. I'm definitely adding Rondo of Blood as I love Castlevania games. I am playing these on the Wii U using Wii mode.

I do have a regular Wii that'd be easy to mod but whenever I deal with roms, or stuff I don't pay for, I have no motivation to play through it. I'm just weird like that. I have a PSP loaded with thousands of games and I never touch it.

I've never seen this game discussed here. Does /vr/ dislike this game or something?
Apart of the killer OST and Wild West feel, I enjoyed the story and the traditional turn-based gameplay.

What's your favourite and least favourite part in WA? Asgard is a bro and his moments with Cecilia saddens me. I hated De Le Metalica on my first play because my English fucking sucked back then and couldn't find the right door.

Also WA2 thread if you'd like.

I only just recently played and finished it 2 months ago but it blew me away with so many things it did right.

The guardian system is good if not better than FFVIII, the force meter was pretty neat and the fact that each member (arguably) has equal weighting on the story with each member having their own zelda-esque tools was pretty damn fun.

The whole wild west/sci-fi setting never wears out its welcome either.

I'll definitely being playing sequel later, i hope it doesn't suck ass.

A GPU that can only calculate rounded up/down to the nearest integer. It is unable to do floating point operations for sub pixel accuracy.
This is also what helped it render so fast all the way back in 1995
>>

>sub pixel accuracy.
But it's clearly several pixels out in places. If it's a rounding issue, surely it's taking place in the geometric "domain" of the process?

No z-buffer, it could only approximate depth relative to the camera.

Yes, I said that you weren't allowed to bit bang it in windows.

Linux will let you on almost all parallel port devices, including most USB ones. ALMOST NO terminals use parallel ports for data transmission to a modem though, so your point is invalid when it comes to USB RS-232 devices.

Anyway, USB -> serial converters don't work with a lot of gadgets especially stuff that requires an IRQ line (being that USB is poll-driven and has no provisions for this).

Siege ain't using 3E.
The only IE game that uses 3E is IWD2.
>>
>>3073327
Enhanced Edition is all about 3E weeb rules.

"Dorn Il-Khan: Dorn is a half-orc who wields unmeasurable [sic] otherworldly power in his black sword and unholy spells. Betrayed by his allies, Dorn Il-Khan lusts for vegeance [sic] and glory. Dorn is an NPC that can join the player's party. Also included is the Blackguard kit, which allows you to create your own champion of evil. Confirmed length of this addition is four hours."

>half-orc
>Blackguard "kit" (Prestige class)
>>
>>3073341
First and foremost you don't have to recruit an optional companion.
Secondly you don't have to use the Blackguard kit either.
Third are you implying BG2 and IWD1 didn't have the fucking 3E Sneak and Crippling attack? Because they did.
Pretty sure there was something else from 3E added to IWD1 and BG2 as well.

Anyhow why the autistic hate for 3E anyway? D&D peaked at 3.5.

Why? That's some awful design. Could at least throw some buttons there to use as turbo buttons/for 6-face-buttons consoles.

Anyway, I don't have any experience with this device, but most of these android based emulation devices tend to be fairly mediocre. If you have a decent android phone, you might as well just get a controller for it and use that instead. You'll have access to the same emulators and probably end up with a similar result, for a cheaper price.

Also, most of those devices have really, really terrible and cheap-feeling buttons and joysticks. YMMV.
