I found this at a yard sale yesterday for around $10
Did I do good /vr/?
Enjoy that rock solid 45 minutes of gameplay for 6 AA batteries.

Nice meme. It's not the 90's anymore, you can get like 6 hours from those AAs. Obviously that's still not as good as the classic Game Boy but it's still fairly respectable, about as good if not better than a 3DS as long as you get rechargables.
Nice. There are some good game gear exlusives that fucking autists on this board dont understand.
>its not the fucking 90s anymore you can own a gameboy and a game gear
>"Mom, Dad I want a Super Nintendo."

>>3171325
I seriously doubt that, since the CD-i retailed for more than 3 times the amount of the SNES
What does /vr/ think about Shin Megami Tensei 2 ?
>>3171245
It's a great game.
>>3171245
I hear the MC fucks his mom then lives in a tormented cycle of reincarnation doomed to suffer for all time
>>3171335
I liked the futuristic setting less than the one in SMT1 and the story can be silly at times -Daleth, please. There are still a lot of awesome or creepy moments in this opus.
The UI and demon recruitment/fusion is a step up from the first game, so there's that.
>>3171335
What about the MC isHijiri in Nocturne?
>here, bro, you can be player 2
That's not a bad controller though.
>>3170954
It might be one of those sneakily bad controllers. Design looks identical to a 6 button MD controller, but it might feel like cheap Chinese shit.

>console
why do you only want to see shit games?
>>3170389
Are you trying to argue that there aren't good games on any console?
Why is this game such a bodacious elegantly crafted masterpiece?
I know right?
People just don't judge it properly because it doesn't have spindash and they get their ass handed to them by Labyrinth Zone, but it is the best Sonic game.
>>3170276
For me it was because it was the first game where momentum was the main mechanic. Great characters and art direction. One of my favorite games of all time. S3&K might be my favorite game of all time
>>3170276
Thank God it's Sonic 1 in this OP
I would have lost it if I had to read another wrong opinion.
How can nintendo even compete
1) Revenge of Shinobi
2) Streets of Rage
3) Sonic the Hedgehog
4) Columns
5) Golden Axe(still a great game but the competition here is tough)
Never played the Genesis port) Super Hang-On

Any love for Point and Click Adventure games?
Are there any games you play to this day?

>Toonstruck 2 will never happen
My favorite genre growing up.
I regularly revisit classics on ScummVm and often try out different versions of those I grew up with.
Great taste btw, Toonstruck was my jam. So sad they weren't able to make the sequel.

>Full Throttle
That game breaks my damn heart. It's such an interesting concept but it's painfully short.
Pic related. Why were games for PC so uninspired/choppy/graphically stunted as compared with console games of the era.
>>3169560
No hardware sprites/tiles meant everything had to be done in software, which meant shit framerates. Jazz Jackrabbit was the first PC platformer than ran at 60fps, everything before that is garbage.
>>3169560
The short answer is: PC's were intended as business and productivity machines. Things like scrolling and audio weren't really meant to be implemented.
As time went on, most PC users would still just be re-purposing older productivity hardware for games, so it took until the NOT RETRO era before PC's finally surpassed consoles graphically.
Because cheaper microcomputers were still a thing.
Would you have bought it in 1991?
>>3168090
This would have saved Atari. It could have delayed the Jaguar too.
No. I was six and didn't have credit cards.
>>3168090
That thing has woefully small amounts of memory.
8kbyte PCM sound ram, what the hell. That 1/4th of the SNES.
50Hz. :(
>>3168020
Get an american version and a decent TV that supports NTSC plus PAL?
Though I had an American SNES and a PAL Megadrive, enjoyed them both equally.
>>3168020
SNES games are already appallingly slow as it is, I'd hate to imagine how playing them at 15% less fps would be like.
>>3168115
Try using an american ROM with an emulator and limit the fps to 50 (you'll feel the slowdown).
Then try playing the european ROM with its default setting.
You will notice is not the same at all, playing Sonic in PAL I never noticed any difference against its NTSC version.
Ages or Seasons?
>>3167883
Played Seasons first when i was young. Never beat it. Finally now im 21 played through and finished it.
Played through Ages after via link found Ages to be quicker/easier not that its a bad thing.
Cant really pick a favorite but OoS Din is my waifu
>>3167883
Ages had less bullshit.
Seasons had best girl.
You have to play both of them for the real ending so they're technically one game...
What are the best four-player N64 games? Any hidden gems?
I'm having an 'N64 party' on Friday and I have an ED64 loaded with a full no-intro set, so anything goes. I already have the obvious ones planned, like Mario Party, Smash, Mario Kart, Bomberman, etc. I'm just wondering if there's anything else cool out there that I may not know about.
Goemon's Great Adventure has a 4 players mode but I think you need to beat the game first, if you have an ED you might be able to download a save file or something (though I recommend actually playing through the game yourself on single player, it's a great game), the default is only 2 players.
The MP is hilarious and chaotic, you can piggy back your friends and stuff.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_64_games
I JUST built a PC with a N64 emulator exclusively to play 4 player games. I tried pretty much all of the 4 player titles one by one, though some didn't work. Here's my suggestions:
BATTLETANX (or the sequel, it seems like a fun shooter without being a nightmare to control)
SNOWBOARD KIDS 2 or 1 (if you ever get tired of Mario Kart)
And then there are the amazing shooters, that work very well but have nightmarish controls. I got good at it and it feels natural, but it's hard for newcomers: TUROK: RAGE WARS is amazing (I keep hearing how Goldeneye is amazing but this one seems as good as an early Unreal Tournament game). Also JET FORCE GEMINI (but here the controls are even more nightmarish).
Also DUKE NUKEM ZERO HOUR has a very decent multiplayer.
I am the only person who ever cared, but DONKEY KONG 64 has two different battle modes, and I liked both.
BANJO TOOIE apparently has a First-Person-Shooter mode for multiplayer (!) but I never got to try it.
CONKER'S BAD FUR DAY has a lot of confusing modes that boil down to the usual Deathmatch, capture the flag, etc. but with looser 3d platformer controls. Also it looks good.
WORMS: ARMAGEDDON has a n64 version, and well, it works, and it's the best Worms game.
Also, never underestimate MARIO GOLF, it gives a really long experience, almost a "campaign" feel, and it's throughly enjoyable even for me, and I hate golf.
Want a co-op adventure?
I never managed to get GAUNTLET LEGACY to work, but HEXEN on the n64 has a perfectly functional co-op mode. The graphics look pretty grainy though.
PERFECT DARK is another go-to shooter, but for some reason Turok caught my attention and it seems to be actually the best multiplayer fps on the console.
I haven't managed to try Puzzle Bobble games, or The New Tetris, but I think they have a multiplayer mode for 4. Maybe even Wetrix does (all good games).
I'm sure Mario Tennis is great too but I couldn't get it to work, and F-ZERO is very very fun in single player.
This failed because people felt silly playing it right? So why do tech companies think oculus rift will be any different? Motion controls? Fuck motion controls. I'll stick to playing vidya on a tv screen thats fun for the whole familia
Because the VB wasn't even vr.
It was a shitty red tinted screen you strapped over your eyes to play glorified GB games on.

>People learning things from Nintendo
Nope. As a society, we'll simply rip-off Nintendo indescriminantly until they're gone, then be lost without them.
Learning from their mistakes requires thought and planning which the current industry does not value.
>Top 10 PlayStation 1 games list

The fifth console generation wasn't exactly lacking in games. Why do top ten lists always look the same?

Oh boy this thread again.
>>3166716
Could it be that most people don't play every game made for a system so it's more likely that they've only played a few of the most popular games?
>>3166720
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying that it's a very overused pick for best game on the system when there's plenty to choose from. Same deal with Metal Gear Solid - both MGS and Zelda are fantastic games, but they are generic responses.
