Hello!
I have a few SEGA hardware pieces whose behavior I can't fully comprehend...

- A clone Genesis model 2 that's able to play Virtua Racing (US)
- A CDX (US)
- A 32X (US)
- A Mega Drive / Mega CD 2 combo (Euro).

When I first tested the 32X, it didn't work on anything, till I got the CDX a couple nights ago. I'm guessing the 32X is not compatible through regions (which is reasonable). Is there any hardware based reason why the clone Genesis can run Virtua Racing but not make the 32X work?

And on terms of video... oh boy.
I have a TV that only accepts some kind of PAL or SECAM and RGB - full stop. This became quite troublesome considering 95% of my stuff is NTSC based and RGB cables are very rare here.
When I did manage to acquire an (official) RGB cable, the Genesis didn't output RGB, and yesterday I've learnt that the CDX doesn't either... But the 32X does!
And it's the prettiest RGB I have ever seen.

Why? Can anyone enlighten me please? Can the power supply be the reason on the CDX?
I'd like RGB without needing aid of the 32 bit mushroom, at least on one system

So thats a standalone sega cd?
Grab a pack of cdrs and burn every game. Its not copy protected
>>
>>3223913
Did you try other games besides Virtua Racing? Virtua Racing has a special chip in it that helps with the 3D. I don't own the game but what if it doesn't work with the 32x?

Btw, there is an actual 32x version of the game. I have a lot of questions about what you tried and didn't try. It'd just be a bit much to post.

Is there a better sci-fi 4X game than "Stars!"

I haven't found one, but hoping you wonderful anons have opinions on the matter.

4X general as well, I suppose

Well, Stars! is definitely the very best of the genre. First GalCiv was quite good, MoO 1 and 2 were fine. However, mind you, any of these games were nowhere near the Stars.
>>
>>3223914

That's what I thought.

Used to enjoy the first MoO, but after discovering Stars! in 2012 or so, never looked back.

Unlicensed software is unlicensed software. Atari was salty af for blowing their chance to distribute the Famicom in the US and wanted a piece of the action. Tengen Tetris and Fantasy Zone are worth playing though.

The actual most popular Sega system in south america is the Sega Genesis.

This console was release exclusively in Taiwan.
12 games were made for it.
It came out in '95 so it's no wonder it failed going up against the 3D PS & SS.

It looks like a SNES but the CPU inside is more like the one in a Genesis.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqH6Ck4_AHI

How does it compare to other 4th gen consoles in terms of graphics, sound, controller, build quality, how good are the games, etc?
Where does it fall in power level between SNES, Genesis, TG16, Neo Geo, and CD-i?

Does it have a mascot character like Nintendo and Sega has?

Did anyone here own it as a kid? Memories? How much did it cost? What slogan was used to advertise it? What was the gaming scene like in '95 Taiwan?

My friend has/had one. I remember it being in his parents closet growing up, and I would beg him to bring it out because it was mysterious to me. Never did. I doubt they kept it as they moved and were unlikely to keep it. I'll ask tomorrow.

>>
>>3223157
They definitely feel better. The disc tops are plastic coated, so you dont have to worry about scratching off the foil. Also they are literally blank. No branding, coating, or nuthin. Just a nice mirror finish.

I really miss "no$gmb" the DOS gameboy emulator.
Mostly because it had no bullshit. Just the emulation in fullscreen, and with super game boy borders, something that seems to give most modern gb emulators trouble as far as i've seen (and fuck off, i want borders for nostalgia reasons)

pic related, how the emulator probably looked to someone. Mine looked blue and green

side note:
please point me to which emulator allows SGB borders + GBC colors.

It seems like there's 3 of us on the internet actually giving a shit about it, and it's buggy as fuck in every emulator i try

Also, the "time not set" glitch on pokemon gold dissapeared magically... i don't understand what happened but i can live with this.

thought you guys might enjoy this,

"A "trainumentary" created for the Sega Test Department in 1995-1996."

lots of cool shit, lots of boring shit, but all in all pretty interesting in regards of how testing worked in the 90's, also pretty good fuckin quality for being shot to vhs in the 90's as well.

Features stuff on the saturn, pico (lol) and some other various hardware (nomad, some 32x stuff, sega cd, etc etc)

>The quality is incredible for 1996 video footage
Did you also make this comment OP? The quality is very average for a semi-pro video production. VHS itself is actually capable of good image quality, but most look like shit these days due to age or usage wear.
>>
>>3222586

nope but i thought about it, i dont know shit about vhs editing, i was more talking about the fact that its from ages ago and the fact that it had'nt had the quality degrade too much compared to other tapes ive seen from that same period. At the end though they talk about how it was shot with a sony ccd-v5000 and edited on a sony evo-9700 hi 8 which probably has something to do with it, but once again i dont know dick about vhs editing or the types of cameras used back then.

Hey do any of you guys feel nostalgic enough towards Phantasy Star Online to want to download and play? We started a little 4chan group and have like 50 people so far, and there's 3 full parties as I speak right now. Granted, it's the Blue Burst version, but PSO is old enough to warrant being posted here.
