How do I make pic related run on Windows 10?

and why would you use a spyware as an operating system?

Microsoft will drop support for the older os.Its a matter of time.
How do you guys pick a new game to play? I've developed a system where I exported the full list of roms available to download from any particular system to a spreadsheet and use random.org to pick a title. This may seem autistic, but relieves of the stress of having to choose between thousands of titles.
Historical relevance.
>>3231025
>this may seem autistic
Bingo. Stress? You're choosing a video game. It's not difficult. Pick one that looks fun and interesting. Keep your autism in check.
I play games I liked, but didn't beat in childhood. Then I play games by the same developer. Wanting to know more about a specific genre, I play games that are precursors to this genre.

Do you think this canceled Sonic belt scroller looked good, /vr/?
Not really, not a fan of SatAM either.
It looks like it had potential.
Would've been neat to see the archie characters in a sonic game too. Something that isn't spinball.
>>3230838
I'm all for trying out a new style of gameplay, looks like it might have been a cool game.
Why does this game get so much praise? It's not a terrible game, but it just doesn't have a lot going for it. The story is a very average save-the-world affair with no real interesting plot twists. The characters are generic and have no development. The battle system is dead simple and also broken, once you get the ability to change into Spiritual class you can just hide behind your enemies and wait as long as you want for your magic gauge to recharge, essentially allowing you to live forever in battle. The game is short as fuck, my final playclock said 14 hours. The "amazing ending" that I've seen people remark on is just the ending fromEarthboundexcept it's not done as well.
I will give the game points for being relatively unique with the dragon-riding mechanic. It also follows a very minimalist design, which I think other RPGs could learn from. Unfortunately, I think they might have gone too minimalist.
Thoughts?
>>3230564
>The story is a very average save-the-world affair with no real interesting plot twists
The twist is that it's vastly expanding the Panzer Dragoon mythology from the rail shooters
>The battle system is dead simple and also broken
The battle system is actually super awesome but you're sort of right. After you level to a certain point in any number of methods you become fairly unstoppable. There needs to be a difficulty-up hack but the game checks for game-shark type devices
>The game is short as fuck
So's Chrono Trigger. That's not necessarily bad and there's your standard 40-50 hours if you 100% it.
>I will give the game points for being relatively unique with the dragon-riding mechanic
Yes, it's combat system may not be the most complex and it may not be correctly balanced but it is absolutely unique and the source code for the game has been lost so we're not going to see HD re-releases or rebalanced versions.
Hell, I'd be ecstatic if someone would just come up with a game-shark enable code and a player-attacks-do-XXX%-damage code to make the game more challenging and to feel longer in "playclock" terms, plus it would give better reason to search the entire areas since you'd need to grind a bit. Just something as simple as that could make a very good rare game a GREAT rare game.
because it's expensive
>>3230564
Nostalgia. That's why.
I really don't get why kids even come here or play older games. Like half the threads are stupid shit like this.
Anybody have anything to ay regarding the Addam's family games? They had to have been popular for there to be as many as there are, right?
>>3230382
I tried figuring out how many their are REALLY but nobody knows for sure
>>3230415
Wait, what exactly do you mean?
>>3230382
Pic related was a solid platformer with lots of exploration and a good challenge. Ocean made a bunch of movie based games and this happens to be one the few that are actually enjoyable.
I've been messing around with Mario Paint quite a bit, and I can't seem to find any info on exactly how it works. You can put a dot of every colour and patern on the screen all at once. How does this work considering the hardware limitations of the system? Is it a neat workaround, or something simple? Anyone know?
>>3230369
Now that I think about it, you're right.
How the fuck DID they do that?
>>3230369
you are literally just adding color to a background image. what so impressive about that?
>>3230432
OP mentioned how you can put a pixel of every color on the screen, so I believe he's perplexed about how it managed to work under the color limitation per tile as well as the maximum capacity of the palettes.
I hope ProJared was right about Tower of Doom because I'm about to sink $15 into Chronicles of Mystara.

Most popular Sega system in Asia.
>>3230163
Are you the same anon who made that "Master System is most popular Sega system in S. America" thread?
>>3230163
Still not popular enough to save Sega from going bankrupt, though.
>>3230190
Only America matters
Lets have an Ultima thread:
Talk about your favorite Ultima game, favorite moments, memories, etc.
Truly, the greatest series of rpgs in video game history.
I started with Ultima Online. Played it for 7 years +
Only played Ultima VII after that.
I really should try the Underworld games.. they sound really good.
>>3230104
My favorite is a tie between Exodus and Quest of the Avatar on NES. III has an awesome soundtrack, and there's actually an album called Ultima Mix that got released in Japan. It does, admittedly, sound like late-'80s, early-'90s J-pop in a lot of the songs, but there are still a few good ones in there. Here's my favorite one out of the bunch.

The bizarro secret room in the first town in Ultima 7, which you get to by trying to enter a crate that you place north of the south-east most tree. Lord Britain calls you a horrible piece of shit and tries to kill you.
Why haven't you bought the best portable device for retro gaming yet?
>Android emulation
>Xbox buttons
I don't buy trash.
>>3230085
>Best platform to emulate on other than windows
>Uses custom made buttons and vita joysticks
What??
>>3230082
>Best
>Not powerful enough to use shaders in RetroArch
>Awkward button placement; uses the DS form factor despite not having a second screen
>Analog sticks given the sweet spot
>Mushy D-pad
>Battery has a tendency to keel over if you use a fast charging cable
What??
Is this the best book on the subject thus far? I'm inclined to agree.
What else would you recommend that is as in depth?
>$16.99
>sale price
It better be for that much.
Just lurk /vr/ for a week and you're an expert.
>>3229749
It's Nintendo focused, but Game Over is really good. I need to read Ultimate History though.
There is neoclassical music, so there must be the term "neoretro". ITT: neoretro vg
Super Meat Boy
I Wanna Be the Guy/Boshy
Binding of Isaac
Shovel Knight
Super Amazing Wagon Adventure
They're just called 'indie games' now. Unfortunately.
>>3229481
It doesn't matter how they are called by most. Besides, indie and neoretro only intersect, since some big developers still do neoretro (I think?).
>>3229479
Only catchy tunes I can remember were the first couple of stages in Shovel Co-niggot.
The rest are forgettable.
Should add VVVVVV to that list.
What about neoretro remixers, like RushJet1?
Reminder that Sonic 2 is a bad game
>any Sonic game
>deep

>>3229443
I don't get it. They fixed the one problem the first game had. And made a bigger game. Why so salty?
Should Sonic Team have just let Mario have the "3D platformer crown" during the 5th Generation?
Instead of trying to bring Sonic into 3D, they could have polished up his 2D gameplay even more. Sprite based stuff got pretty good during 5th gen, and I think a Sonic 4 made during that era would have been great.
Then, after Mario 64, once platforming was able to work in 3D, then they could have added the nuances of Sonic. That's what happened in 2D: video games had to learn how to Mario before they could Sonic.
Considering that every 3d Mario has been inferior to Mario 64, no.
Stop crying, Nights was better than a 3D Sonic game could have been on the Saturn.
Shiggy himself praised Naka for Nights.
>>3229427
not crying, and I'm trying to say that they shouldn't have even tried to 3D Sonic on the Saturn. 2D Sonic would have been the better way to go. Level design was already at its peak, as was the physics system. Just needed to improve sound quality, visual quality, and boost the amount of content. Just refine the fuck out of it.
Still haven't played NiGHTS yet.
