I almost bought a PS vita because I saw this on PSN, but then I saw that I couldn't actually buy it. Why can't I buy it? Why do video game companies hate consumers so much?

>Why do video game companies hate consumers so much?
Poor baby.
>>3236520
Get it on PC faggot.

Gearbox is reworking duke to make him more hip with catchphrases such as bazinga in 3d
Hey /vr/,
I'm trying to remember PC games I owned growing up.
My parents frequently shopped at outlet/liquidation/blowout stores, and that meant I'd subsequently pick up cheap computer games for $5 a piece
So instead of making your average nostalgia thread posts, only post things you got for cheap.
I'll kickstart it with the few games I remember.
World War III Black Gold
Robot Arena
Skateboard Park Tycoon
"I'm an old school gook killer boy, but I'd kill me a nigger if I got the chance!"
Holy shit, how the FUCK did they get this line into the game? I know it's based on an R-rated movie and this is before the ESRB, but just..wow.
Okay.
>>3236120
Just kind of shocked an 80's game had such adult lines like this. Plus first time playing through this game (love the movie) so I was taken aback you know?
>>3236123
Shenmue is pretty infamous for this, one of the bosses shouts out "I'll fucking kill you!"
What do you think of this game based on these four screenshots?
High quality
It's total garbage
Looks fantastic. Makes me wish I could read moonrunes.
Is action doom 2 the best wad ever?
my favorite wad is one I found on one of those doom wad cds you'd find in the mall in the mid 90s, it's called homer.wad and replaces the sound effects with simpsons sounds
I prefer vanilla doom... Crispy doom to be specific.. But i really liked the AI of brutal doom when i tried it, not the fancy stuff and modifications, but the IA felt a great challenge somethimes comparing to vanilla doom... Maybe theres a way to play with the new AI and only that from brutal doom... I have to say that i love brutal heretic rpg, im replaying the game with it, lol
>>3235163
It's probably one of the best-looking doom wad at least.
It's done! time ago I purchased the APE SMW guides and disbinded them so I could scan the pages. It's done now. I'll begin work on the second volume as soon as I can.
• The essential color grading and page straightening is done, but I wasn't able to do 3mm bleeds.
• The size of a typical spread is 358.61 × 128.14 mm at 600dpi, the exception pages being the map spread and its backside, the timeline page. They're a bit wider.
• I did a lot of work to remove all the shit and stains the previous owner left to the pages, but if there's any glaring errors, let me know.
• I'm now left with a bunch of pages and I don't dare to rebind it so if someone wants the disbinded book, I can send it to you via mail.
• If someone could translate the comics and developer interviews, that'd be grand. The entirety of the book would of course be better, but that might be too much to ask for.
1.9 GB might be too much for too many, so here's a lower res version that's only 24.8 MB:

The full non-compressed piece is here:

Scans general I guess
Wow, thank wuuuuuiu

Thanks scanbro we need more like you
>Quake
>doesn't actually deal with a quake in any way
>>3234305
It deals with a dimensional quake. It's also the codename for Shub-Niggurath, the final boss.
>>3234307
>It deals with a dimensional quake.
literally meaningless, they could have just called it an invasion incident.
>It's also the codename for Shub-Niggurath, the final boss.
That'd be like if Call of Duty wasn't about a soldier but instead a loose cannon heavily armed action dude and the villain was codenamed "Call of Duty".
>Half-Life
>You start with full life
Hey /vr/, I know this isn't completely retro since it's a new game, but it's on a retro console (the dreamcast) and I know some of you guys will have interest in it.
A rail-shooter called Xenocider is in development for the dreamcast and is on Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/retrosumus/xenocider-a-3d-shooter-for-pc-mac-linux-dreamcast/description It's also going to be on the PC for you master-race gamers. I wanted to share it since I want to see it get funded.
New releases for retro consoles are allowed. Is the DC version the main project or a stretch goal?
>>3232402
The dreamcast is what they keep talking about, so I think so. If it gets its goal and nothing more it's going to be on the Dreamcast, PC, and 3DS.
EVERY. SINGLE. NEW. GAME for dreamcast is a fucking shooter.
lol.
>yo mang whats the least played genre by anyone that isnt a 50 year old galaga loving dweeb
>shooters mang, make another shooter dawg
I just started playing this game. I'm not impressed so far.
it's shit
what a brilliant way to start the thread.
how far in are you? I'd say the game gets better once you get Paula as a party member.
I mean the game is awful.
Underappreciated retro game devs general
somebody post retro hime, queen of /vr/
What is your personal stance on using guides, specially on /vr/ games?
I think is OK, I mean. You don't look down on someone for using a cookbook to make a meal.
Only if I own it physically.
>>3230446
I try to play as blindly as possible but if I get stuck for over 15 minutes I'll usually resort to one.
I don't have dozens of hours to blow on games anymore so I use them when I start getting frustrated.
What are some /vr/ games with cool intros? heres some of my favorites

>>3230012
who?
>>3230009
Those aren't intros. Just the shit before/after the menu. Usually a condensed version of the actual intro.
>>3230015
you mean intros you retard?
hey most of this stuff applies
http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Creepypasta_Wiki:Creepy_Clich%C3%A9s
>The cartridge/label shows obvious signs of tampering.
>Obviously technically impossible stuff, such as games that delete themselves in such a way that you can't recover them, or games with "perfect" copy protection. (Such as Killswitch, which is both.) This includes older games having graphics/sound/visual effects beyond the system's technical limitations.
>Song generally regarded as "creepy" plays on repeat or backwards
>Buying the game from someone at a yard sale;
>The game's talking to me, telling me to go away, turn back or something of that sort.
>Thinking that certain things were just some "minor glitches" in the game.
>The person who sold the game (yard, eBay, whatever) begging people to buy it, and for a low price too.
>The character you play as looks exactly like you or someone close to you.
is my game cursed or haunted
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsKuuQrCyrw
That game would actually be creepy as fuckif it was just a generic mascot
>>3183353
No I don't think it's haunted. My DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball does that too.
How come dungeon crawlers, a genre born in the west and so immensely popular in the 80s and early 90s fell into obscurity and is basically dead nowadays while it thrives in Japan of all places? It just boggles my mind how one of the forefathers of the genre, Wizardry, is a Japanese property now.
>>3240720
They evolved into things like Elder Scrolls. Japan likes clinging to the past when it comes to video games.
>>3240771
I kinda wish Square would cling to the past in ways beyond ps1 era fanservice.
I much prefer the their older turn based games to how they're trying to make their new FFs Kingdom Hearts style ARPGs.
>>3240813
>I much prefer the their older turn based games
Then turn your sights to handhelds
So, I never actually beat Sonic 2. I'm gonna play it, but I just realized something.
You can disable Tails being in the game, which would make special stages WAAAY easier, but I feel like I shouldn't because it's supposed to impose a challenge.
What should I do?
>>3240471
>You can disable Tails being in the game, which would make special stages WAAAY easier
How so? I didn't think Tails can take damage and cost you rings. If anything, I thought playing WITH Tails makes it easier because he can help you collect rings you miss.
>>3240484
I just remember losing rings because of him. Pretty sure he can help you lose them, but he can also collect them.
>>3240484
he collects the rings you miss because his reactions are slightly delayed compared to sonic's.
same way he gets rings is the same way he gets hit, often. bomb groups are way harder to avoid due to precise timing
